Stampede reborn?
4 Attachment(s)
Witness the most tweaked and retweaked stampede on the planet. Took so many nights to build it the way I like it that I almost don't even feel like talking about it. There's a custom chassis brace system I made on the bottom with a compartment for holding my 3S 6Ah Lipos. That's a sideways slide-out cover on the bottom to protect that battery. Beside's giving rock bottom CofG, you don't have to remove the body to change the pack. very handy! 100% steel tranny innards and a basic 5200 complete the deal.

That looks pritty nice, what shockes are those? Does anyone know is some jato shocks would fit?
|
they're just the traxxas big bore Al shocks with silver socks over the springs.....
last I checked jato shocks weren't a direct fit. The stroke is wrong for the back as well. |
Looks very nice. What kind of speed and runtimes you get out of it?
|
Looks good! Bet she is pretty quick.
|
Thx. Haven't clocked her, but she's so fast I get nervous at WOT. I'd guess around 45-50 mph or so. Too fast for a truck honestly. Traction is the hardest part. Even Med Komodo dragons spin to baldness in no time if I'm not careful. I had to get some street tires for when I mess around on the street or I'd go through dirt tires within minutes. Runtime is like 25-30 minutes just fartin around at the tracks.
|
That sounds logical (runtime).. as for the speeds, it may feel as if your going 45-50, but really its probably around the high 30's low 40's.
|
thats good to hear...for about every 2wd truck tires will go bald quicker
|
I assure you it over 40 mph. I was clocking around 40 mph last revision and that was with revo response tires and a Lehner 4200. Since I have added the smaller lighter anaconda's (also less roll resistance), and the 5200 with it's completely maxed voltage.
|
Mike : Yea, tires go quick on pavement, not so much on dirt/grass.
Cadima : If your clocking it with a radar than it is over 40 (unless your using the hot wheels radar ;) ) . |

For me i would have someone drive along a straight road with me in the car (window open), and have my buggy toping out and trying to go at the same speed as the car.
would probably be the bast way for ME to see how fast its going. And ill know that im getting a acurate reading. |
LOL
I can see so many things going wrong with that method LOL. Any of you seen Oceans 12? LMAO |

Video you say? Link please.
|
yeah link. I can ceep it straight, i would have some safe distance away from the vehicle anyway.

However, lately we ordered a MambMax/Twist combo. According to the speed calculator we could see upwards of 60MPH under 3S. I can't wait to try it out this spring :004: |
Yea, but after seeing a 2.5 jato go all out at my hobby shop, i could say my B4 is VERY close to its speed, but i can say right off the accel is a ton better than the jato.
|
hmm....that means both of ours should easly hit 50MPH? IDK sounds odd i doubt it goes that fast...unless your using lipo.(but your saying this when you had those gp3300s still?)
|
When i tried it on Gp3700s it was fast, and i didnt even have it on full throttle settings! It was almost too fast, i dont know if ill handle lipo, but thats what the esc is for ; adjustments!
|
its going to be quite alot for a track unless you decrease the acel alot:)
|
A steady finger helps alot too.
|
Yep thats one of the key steps to becoming a good racer:)
|
you guys crack me up! All that work to transform the pede and make a Lipo comparment integrated underneath the FLm chassis, which allows me to swap batteries without pullin the body, and get my CofG to minumin, and I get quibbling about speed. give me some props please!
|
Awesome ride cadima. Love what you did with the battery compartment.
There is that better LOL. |
Hmmm, Lipo underneath? Can we say FIRE!

Imo id prefer a higher cog with better saftey rather than the opposite.

I know that! I was just making a personal point there!

The battery compartment has a cover that slides in and locks which fully shields the battery. My current cover is nylon at about 0.150" thick. I use two gorrilla straps for insurance keeping the cover from sliding out. Wouldn't be hard to make the cover Al either. In fact you'd only need a belt sander to file the ends to an angle. I've just moved on to different trucks and the nylon cover shows no signs of issues after over a year. My pictures don't do justice I guess, but I think you're jumping the gun on calling it unsafe. It also accepts a 9 cell pack if you prefer.

Thanks hyper.... |
I think it is good idea. The cover should protect it pretty well.
Just make sure the pack can slide around to much in the holder. Nice truck. |
thanks again cool. There's foam in the back, and slight interference of the bottom plate to the pack which pretty much sandwhiches it in. I guess for thinner packs you could put foam rubber strips on the plate as need to get your squeeze. Well, works perfect for me so far and this truck is no shelf queen.
Since the recent comments I have added a warning label requiring outdoor use only, for adult use only. That should cover me. |
Nice Pede. Looks like you have a lot of time invested in it!
|
yup. wife bought it for me as my first r/c truck 2 yrs ago. got the sickness. now here i am where I can share my disease.
|
We all have it....in varying degrees! :024:
|
fortunately, the side effects are intermittent for me. Unforunately, I've had it bad last few months working on the CRT re-version which is quite a bit more advanced than the pede... Maybe a post on the project will make me feel better.
