tires, wheels, tires, ...

lets talk tires and wheels,
what do you like: 40's or std maxx size?:032:
wich brands do you like: pro-line, axial, hpi, losi, ...
beadlocks or glued tires?
and so on, tell me all you know.
many thanks.

glassdoctor 01.16.2007 12:04 PM

I like standard and low profile tires.... but I mostly race. For bashing, I use to run stock emaxx treads, but I want to get a set of Badlands tires.

I have never had beadlocks... but they look cool IMO.

Edit... "low profile" I meant the Proline MT tires... bowties, hotshots, and the similar Panther tires, etc

crazyjr 01.16.2007 02:26 PM

for racing I prefer 40's on mine, but i have a couple sets of max sized that work as well

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 02:41 PM

IMO for racing standad size work better because of the less tire you get more turning and it does not slide as much in the turns as the 40 series. But for bashing and looking cool go with the 40 series IMO because it puts more tire to the ground and it looks cool (that is if your motor can support 40 series but it probably can for example the novak gus recommend not using 40 seirs because there motor will not push it but pretty much any other motor will be able to handle it).

crazyjr 01.16.2007 05:23 PM

But sliding is my style, From my experience the G2R likes to run a little loose

jollyjumper 01.16.2007 05:28 PM

wich 40's do you like?

jollyjumper 01.16.2007 05:31 PM

any one running wheels/tires from axial?

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 05:37 PM

they look cool but i dont know if they will hold up to BL power(the axel black monster truck 17mm wheels i looked at my hobby town looked from support that they would not hold up because of week suports) But others might work what do you guys think.

jollyjumper 01.16.2007 05:42 PM

if 17's hold up to big block truggies, i think they can handle bl aswell.just imo.
i think i'll never exeed 1200 watt's.:D

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 05:58 PM

Ok it might work not saying it wont but i was just suggesting that they may not be as strong as the prolines. But if you think they work they mostlikl will because i think your are knowleageble enough that when you see them you can tell if there is enough meat on the rim holding it to the outer circle of the rim. BTW let me know how they do because i like the design and i was not sure of the stregnth. Who know since nobody runs these(at least out of the maxx/truggys/etc..) if they do good for you people will see that they look cool and they work and they might start using them.

jhautz 01.16.2007 08:12 PM

I have been eyeballing the Axial Beadlocks for 40 series tires with a nice set of bowtie 40's for bashing, But I havent done it yet. If anyone has tried the Axial Beadlocks Id be interested to hear opinions too.

BTW the spoke version looks weak to me too, but the ''hole'' versions looks like it should be plenty tough.

This is why i said this jolly jumper becasue i was looking at the spoke version but i have not seen the beadlocks they are probably good though. But the spokes are to week IMO.

Mike.L 01.16.2007 09:16 PM

i really like the proline badlands, for trucks but from my 2wd buggy i like all Panther tires(the slicks come in handy for onroad) Proline is also good crime fiters fuzzie square bowties.....like em all for track bashing? it would probably be bowties alos....on all my trucks

jollyjumper 01.17.2007 06:31 AM

gmaxx, do you mean the 8 spoke beadlock or the non beadlock 8 spoke wheels?
edit: nevermind gmaxx,if you think the 8 spoke's wont hold up i could agree with you.
but i tought you ment the hex hub wouldnt hold up.

jhautz 01.17.2007 11:13 AM

These are are the ones Im interested in. Anybody tried them?

http://www.axialracing.com/tools/loc...06ecdf64a0.jpg
Both of these are designed for 40 series tires w/ 17mm hex.

jollyjumper 01.17.2007 04:58 PM

you and gmaxx both thinkin the 8 spoke are weak huh?!?
that's good to know.
i'm trying to decide on the wheels.
beadlock or not?
oh yes the tires in the pic i posted are the axial terra-izer's.

crazyjr 01.17.2007 05:34 PM

Those axial tires look like they will bite on almost anything

jollyjumper 01.17.2007 05:42 PM

axial claims they do work almost everywhere.
they say its based on mx tire treads.

Mike.L 01.17.2007 05:43 PM

they are nice, but i dont really see a point to it?(beadlocks)

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 04:19 AM

i think i wont buy beadlock's.
there more then twice the price of regular rims.
and the chances are that when the tires are worn out your rims are damaged aswell.
but yea, i need 17mm 40's, so its proline or axial.
and pro-line rims arent so good in my opinion, there not always as true as they should be.

mike those are axial wheels.

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 10:02 AM

any one runs on lots of grass?
if so, wich tires you got?

jollyjumper 01.23.2007 10:04 AM

i was wondering where i could get maximizer beadlock wheels?
thanks.

I use those... Not green but... The same wheels. I like them, they are pretty tough. A little heavier than a normal non beadlock wheel. But they are good.
