here is the prototype drawing of the diff holder:

Promod uses a centerdiff on his TF too, he is raving about it.

Should be awesome Jolly.

also the chassis i drew, note the two extra holes.
twin force owners will know wich ones.

also, now i should be able to get nice speed ( but not speeds like promod)
without revving over 40k rpm.

Promod 02.17.2007 12:20 AM

looks nice!!

Thank you,
Promod

i hope i can get it machined soon enough.
dafni, would you be interested to coloborate with me on this project?
took the stock steering of, would not work with the diff.
because the servo saver is attached to the tranny plate.
dafni, i saw you had the losi claws on your twin, how big are they and how do they handle?
thanks

a little enlighting:
tell me wath you guys think of it.

Dafni 02.17.2007 02:08 PM

LST tires are big. Nice for crawling and hard jumping (easy to pull flips) but pretty much useless for any fast runs.

Your Centerdiff mounts look alright. Doing a colaboration together depends on your time range, I'm rather busy at the moment.
But since I want to do something to my TF anyway, I'll defintely think about it.

jollyjumper 02.17.2007 02:09 PM

ok, ill try and go for it alone if you are to busy because i want to run this thing.

Dafni 02.17.2007 02:13 PM

Okay. Nevermind. I'll make sure to let you guys know when I did something new to my TF. At the moment it's just too many projects for other guys, and when I find time for my own stuff, the TF takes a back seat. But this will change! I love the TF.

jollyjumper 02.17.2007 02:14 PM

okay, i understand.
for promod:
can you post some photos of your steering on the TF?
thanks, mike.

wonder what this is for?
just playing with ideas, wich would be best, up/down motor mount or sideways?
i guess sideways cuz the motor wont go down in mesh to tight?

Here is a picture of the steering. Camera is not the best.

Thank you,

jollyjumper 02.20.2007 06:32 AM

thanks promod,
can you adjust toe-in/out on that steering?

jollyjumper 02.20.2007 11:07 AM

at monster mike a ???

1 Attachment(s)
mike, could you make a sprocket that fits onto a mp7.5 diff?
this is the stock sprocket:

Promod 02.20.2007 02:08 PM

You can adjust toe-in/out by adjusting the rod ends.

Thank you,
Promod

jollyjumper 02.20.2007 02:20 PM

ok, thanks.

Dafni 02.20.2007 06:16 PM

I thought about a chain drive slipperential too, Jolly :)

jollyjumper 02.21.2007 06:32 AM

roflol, i think it would work nice.
i'm always exploring ideas.
i need someone that can make the sprocket.
and i cant draw it aswell, the teeth.:mad:1 :mad:1 :mad:1 :mad:1

jollyjumper 02.24.2007 08:30 AM

promod, yet another question, how does the thunder tech racing stuff hold up?
is it good quality?
thanks, mike.

this chassis would be nice for making center chain drive diff.
i dont want the diff to be bigger in diameter then the chain drve sprocket is now.
it sticks out 12mm below the sides of the truck's chassis plates.
even with a small 44 tooth spur that distance will increase.
so i really want the chain drive slipperential or w/e you'd call it.
here the nice thundertech racing chassis:

Promod 02.25.2007 10:33 AM

Thundertech stuff seems to be good. Have four or five of there clod chassis and they take some abuse. Although my one ripper-pro clod chassis did crack a side plate an a bad high speed flip. Anthing can break, but I would recommend the thundertech stuff unless your going to get real crazy.

Thank you,
Promod

jollyjumper 02.25.2007 11:34 AM

i'm not going over 40miles an hour really, so i guess it should be fine.
i think can do my diff upgrade easier on the thunder tech enforcer.

jollyjumper 03.01.2007 02:46 PM

got my F/R diffs, 4.3 ratio.
dont really know what to do, get a motor that will run nice with the 4.3's in there or get 3.31's and get a motor for the ratio that would give me?
any advice?
ratio will be 25/1 with the 4.3's. with 20T motor pinion.
need to shim the diffs, got shims on the way, any tips you could spare?

jimbob 03.23.2007 02:08 PM

bring up old thread :024: but i too would like to know about the centre diff and if you got it running :004:

im gunna try and get some designs drawn up in cad soon

jollyjumper 03.24.2007 04:33 AM

i'm still thinking about it but not working on it right now.
i would like to make it with the chain drive, the hard part is the sprocket.
i would also like to use the thundertech chassis as the center plate is longer, wich is needed. i'm kinda holding of since this project may be more difficult then doing 1/8th nitro conversion, wich i plan to do 2 of soon. most likely i wont be able to make my own part so i'll have mike do the machining.
if you draw stuff defo show it of here. maybe we can work together on this?
thanks, mike.

jimbob 03.24.2007 07:20 AM

ok kl... i will try and get some measuring done.. i was thinking of running the lightning centre diff as i am converting to those diffs anyway...

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLGX1&P=7
looks like you could use that spur pretty easy (not sure on pitch) or swap it with a 32p spur
im currently using this Carbon Fibre chassis - (cant find like :013: ) but i may use the stock tranny plate as it is more solid

jollyjumper 03.24.2007 07:30 AM

direct drive? then you need plastic spur for the diff, steel does not work, eats pinions. look in the shop here in gears and tranny section.
i want it to be like the stock trans, but with a diff in it.

jimbob 03.24.2007 07:48 AM

ya im sure you could find some that would fit easily..
looks like they are mod1

i get what your saying now.. is hard to think about the sprocket without the parts in front of you :P
might have to order some parts

jollyjumper 03.24.2007 05:19 PM

yeah, all 1/8th nitro stuff is module 1.

jimbob 03.25.2007 06:03 AM

well i will try and come up with a design and see what you think

might have to order the diff first unless anyone knows any mesurements

jollyjumper 03.25.2007 01:31 PM

HB/kyosho diff is 25mm inbetween the bearings, bearings are 16*8*5mm.
cup is 31mm diameter and spur is 2mm bigger then the tooth count.
that should do.:003:

jimbob 03.25.2007 03:26 PM

ok cheers :027:

so if you would need to mounts with holes for the bearing to sit inbetween
should be too hard i guess..

plate would need drilling as well, keeping stock postion? so dogbones are right length
and wouldn't running the chain as well gear it down more with a centre diff?
as in should it be fine with just the centre diff :026:

jollyjumper 03.25.2007 03:45 PM

i personally bough truggy diff 'cause i tough i would go direct drive at first.
but i didnt like how the diff would stick out below the chassis.
so that why i want the chain drivin' diff.
same ground clearence as stock.
and even with the 4.3/1 diffs and the tranny its gonna be geared right for my motor's.
(19t 540's).
so if you want to do direct drive you should use truggy diff as otherwise it will run too fast imo.:mad:1
with 4.3 diff and 46/13 you are at 15.21/1 total wich is nice with 5.75~6.125 tires.
otherwise you are geared around 11/1~12/1 total, makes the truck really fast at the ideal rpm. 35000rpm or so.

jimbob 03.25.2007 06:17 PM

i reckon you could make it fit :018: i will measure up and see
its not gunna be easy but two minds are better then one

jollyjumper 03.26.2007 05:07 AM

take a peak at my drawings i posted earlier. give you an idea how i would of done it. dafni said it looked ok, so its a start.
it would even have a skid plate and an esc mount.

jimbob 03.26.2007 11:14 AM

ya they look good... i will start out with some drawings on paper, i hate using CAD :032:

jimbob 03.28.2007 05:00 PM

ok two bits more info before i decide on my design

how far infront of the bearings do the drice cups sit...
how long is the total diff?

my plan to to actually mount the centre diff on top of the plate?
just an idea, im thinking may work :018:
