need toknow how to tune...

hey well i got my revo running again (been sitting for about 2 weeks) and for some reason it got out of tune.

starts up ok but spits out gas likea mofo!! VERY VERY slow. slow start.

what do i needa do guys?

thanks!

very new to tuning so i might need some visuals to know what everything is (hsn, lsn, and so on)

tallyram 02.16.2007 06:32 PM

sounds like your low speed needle needs leaning out some.

squeeforever 02.16.2007 08:05 PM

I would start with the HSN. Always start with the HSN, then LSN.

glassdoctor 02.16.2007 10:52 PM

Above advice all sounds right... but what do I know? :)

After it's had time to warm up... get it up to speed, even if it's a dog getting there. You need to see what the top end is like... does it jsut keep stumbling and spitting lots of smoke... or does it seem to lean out ok after a few seconds wot?

Then lean out the bottom if it's still spitting fuel and bogging.

Nitros are sooo much fun sometimes.. :D

t-maxxracer32 02.16.2007 11:42 PM

im not hating on electric, im just defending nitro because people were bashing it first. i did say i like my flm maxx!

I dunno, buggys top out at about what, 35mph? The straight shouldn't be a problem since Ashley (my BPP LSP; yes, I named my truck, after all, its my baby) should theoretically do about 53mph. Hell, it was doing 30mph on half the voltage (3S). Oh, by the way, I should be able to run about 40 minutes without a recharge. :D

revopqrs 02.22.2007 10:37 PM

were geared to do about 40ish (13t cb)because thats all we can get in the 115' straight. they could go faster easily, but we choose to gear em down for the track. its all about hooking up, but still getting on the pipe.. our track is slick so were spinning most of the time! my revo was geared to do 55+ with my novarossi 528xr(most powerful nitro motor ever dynoed) but my buggy hammers it in a drag race. my d21t is one bad mill, i have a novarossi plus 21-5 for back up!!:005:
we had a radar gun at the track not too long ago and the truggies were getting up to about 32 the buggies 35mph.

heres some paking lot action with one of my buggies running slicks and a 528xr. the other truck is a 3.3 jato, they claim 65 out of the box and my buggy was hammering it all day! i was geared for onroad in this vid, close to 60mph (18t cb). and still couldnt keep traction!

if your ever in my neck of the woods let me know man, id love to have ya out to the track! that goes for any adult members of this site!!:027:

revopqrs 02.22.2007 10:38 PM

40 min huh? thats pretty impressive!!:027:

glassdoctor 02.22.2007 11:33 PM

My buggy will run 30-35 min on the battery shown in this vid, and it can be geared to run as fast as you can make your nitro go... I promise. ;)

No doubt a nitro can be very fast... it's not easy for an electric to match the top end of nitros... but don't forget electrics will always have the bottom end that nitros can only dream about. hee hee

Too bad we can't always put it to the ground... offroad often can't take as much bottom end as a BL buggy has. For example, in my video clip, I have to ease on the throttle to keep it pointed the right way. I made the mistake on the first lap, grabbed a little too much heading into the first crossover jump and got sideways... that's why I missed the landing and wrecked.

I won't bash nitros though... I actually like them too. But they get to be too much after a long day of hearing 10-15 at a time.... WAAAHHHH!!!!!! WWAAAAAHHH!!!!!

:D

revopqrs 02.23.2007 03:15 PM

very nice!! thats a sweet ride man, id love to make a brushless buggy. i wish the electronic stuff wasnt so expensive... the 8ight is a sweet buggy!
thanks for posting a vid, i always wanna see stuff like that but its hard to find...
i agree, brushless has the torque for sure!!:024: good drivin man!:027:

crazyjr 02.24.2007 12:06 AM

I wouls love to fly that gap with my MT's. Like glass doctor i love both, I have a 3.3, a G2R, a 2.5 converted to 3.3 and a Gmaxx. All run about the same speed (within 5mph) and love to fly

BlackedOutREVO 04.21.2007 11:59 PM

LOL sorry but i have to say, u could keep up with that buggy with a bl mambafied 18t man! speed isnt everything, but for speed bl and lipo wins top speed... and torque that is unreal! i like nitro and all, but i just cleaned my revo (peice by peice) for the first time, hasnt been nitro for a looong time and has used titians and i rembered why i love bl, flm pede gets dirty, sprey it with cleaner, air comressor and done =)

glassdoctor 04.22.2007 05:59 PM

Well ;) if you mean my 8ight.... no you can't keep up with any 1/18 vehicle on a track. Speed isn't the only thing... size matters too. :) While the 18T is getting kicked all over by bumps and ruts, my 8ight will be ripping straight through it.

And just in case it matters.... the video doesn't show the true speed potential of this buggy. It was geared for a lower top end and I was trying to drive it very "vanilla" smooth... it wasn't hooked up very well and it was the first time on that track for me. I ran it a little harder and geared higher recently and it was a different animal.

On a parking lot or carpet... ( and maybe a super smooth clay track) yeah a BL 1/18 could do some damage.
