My CAD work

Hi all, I just got here and I figured I'd introduce myself. Not much to say but I got some CAD work to show. LMK what you think.

What program are you using? I've been thinking about getting one to play around with.

Sylvester 02.25.2007 09:39 AM

Welcome to the forums!

Nice work, what truck is that for? Also what program are you using?

Serum 02.25.2007 10:29 AM

Cool work!

seems like Alibre or SW to me

captain harlock 02.25.2007 10:30 AM

Purdy!

Buick 02.25.2007 10:31 AM

sapper_triple6 - I used Inventor 10 for that one.

Sylvester - That is a custom 2.2 trophy truck in progress. The only real store bought components would probably be drivetrain, wheels and tires.

The truck isn't finished, and may never be. I'm considering it for my Wyotech Chassis fab project though.

EDIT: The two programs I use, Solidworks and inventor, can get pretty pricey.

sweet work, keep it up.
welcome aboard, man with lot better drawing skills then i.
:p:D

jnev 02.25.2007 03:45 PM

Awesome work. Hopefully it'll end up getting finished. Should be really fun.

Mike.L 02.25.2007 03:49 PM

great job!

Buick 02.25.2007 04:25 PM

Thanks for the compliments! Now I'm gonna have to get this done. First, I got another project though. An electric twin motor TVP truck with a two speed and savage bulkheads. It'll probably be a similar layout to an 1/8 buggy drivetrain wise, but the TVP/Flat chassis hybrid thingamajig should make it interesting. I'll get pics of that as soon as it has more progress.

Thats awesome. I have Inventor 11 and i just know the basics about it, i wish i was that good with it. I need more practice.

New work!!! It's my project DuoMaxx, designed for two mambas. It's based on savage bulkheads, and it may have a 2-speed. It will run with two independent ESCs. If anyone has any advice on the motor setup, I'm all ears. I've never toyed with BL before and I know I'd be diving in head first. Don't call me crazy for doing it, I already know.:007: It's not finished either.

jollyjumper 03.04.2007 09:48 AM

better use one XL can motor then 2 S can motors.
nice frame.

Buick 03.04.2007 11:39 AM

yeah, I'd get the same insanity with less hassle. Out of curiosity, will a 2-speed put too much stress on a BL system? I know they're pretty sensitive with gearing.

jollyjumper 03.04.2007 12:14 PM

i personally would think it is rubish to drive a BL with shifting gears.
1 speed is all you'll ever need!:p:D
do need C/D.

Buick 03.04.2007 12:33 PM

Well, I think I'll go with a 1/8 center diff based on your advice. Those motors are pretty fast.

jollyjumper 03.04.2007 12:37 PM

ah, diff will be sweet.
do you plan to bash, race or both?

Buick 03.04.2007 01:01 PM

Pure basher. I might do some break-in runs at Barnstormers when I'm back in NY though.

jollyjumper 03.04.2007 04:11 PM

use 50k or so, it will wheelie that way. fun fun fun:D

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 04:17 PM

Well, for the price of two Mamba Max's, you can get a Mamba Max and a 1940. Should be plenty of power.

or for a little more $$$ you could go with the more powerful 1950
you may also want to try a neu motor
Nice work by the way i have very basic knowledge of CAD since i just started last week

RideIcon 03.23.2007 05:44 PM

That frame work looks nice, the very front looks like it needs a little more strength, i have been messing with 3d cad programs in school and at home for nearly 5 years, i probably have some i could host if you guys wanna down load them

DickyT 03.23.2007 07:16 PM

Very nice! I envy your talent.
