Couldn't Resist...LSP-R on the way

After a couple of days of thinking, I finally decided to pick up a LSP-R while Ultimatehobbies.com had them on special for $259.95 shipped. I'm planning to run a Mamba Max ESC, but I'm not sure what motor I should use. I'll probably want to go with a Feigao or Wanderer to keep the cost down. Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm also real close to buying a Lightning GT10 to convert to BL as well. It's killing me to see such great prices on these trucks and not have a ton of $ sitting here to drop on them.

AAngel 02.26.2007 04:28 PM

I've found that the MM ESC and Feigao 7XL combo is hard to beat for the price. I run the same setup in an 1/8 scale buggy and a Monster GT conversion. It runs cool and there's plenty of power. The setup also carries a 4S2P 8Ah pack like it's nothing.

Mike.L 02.26.2007 06:13 PM

wait, you said lsp-r. right? 259$! then thats a good bargin its not the 1/10 scale?

squeeforever 02.26.2007 07:06 PM

Damn....I paid $450 for mine a year ago...

Sylvester 02.26.2007 07:07 PM

i paid 400 for mine a couple months ago.. I might go ahead and get another for spare parts, thats a good deal!

squeeforever 02.26.2007 07:13 PM

Sylvester, if you do, let me know. I might be interested in a couple small parts if you would be willing to sell em to me. :)

skellyo 02.26.2007 07:28 PM

Yep, it's the 1/8th scale LSP-R truggy roller. The smaller 1/10th scale Lightning Stadium RTR is only $189.95. They have some killer deals on the HB stuff right now. I thinking of selling off one of my crawlers and buying another truck or two at the prices they're at.

Sylvester 02.26.2007 07:42 PM

Squee - will do, im keeping chassis, arms, diffs, and some other big parts :)

Skellyo - how is their service? I am loving the prices on their site!

skellyo 02.26.2007 08:32 PM

I've ordered from them about 5 times in the past with great service.

jnev 02.26.2007 08:37 PM

Wow, those prices are amazing. I may really need to consider picking one of those up. Those prices are just too good.

Electric Dave 02.26.2007 09:13 PM

I wonder if this ultra low price means that HB is coming out with something new soon...clearing old stock...hmmm....Paid $529 for my LSP-R when they first came out...

jnev 02.26.2007 09:21 PM

I never thought about that, but that really is a possibility. Wonder what kind of changes a new model would have.

elegal 02.26.2007 09:38 PM

I know a few of you have BL LSPs, i have one and am thinking about converting it to BL instead of the emaxx i was originally going to convert, it will be cheaper in the long run, since there are too many upgrasdes the emaxx needs to deal with a BL motor. Did you make your own motor mounts, and how could i get my hands on one of those? Thanks for any advice.

I really doubt it. UH is the only retailer online that has them priced below the typical pricing. If they were discontinued, I really think you'd at least see amainhobbies.com with cheaper pricing on them too.

Mike.L 02.26.2007 10:30 PM

Did anyone go and buy one after seeing this?:p man how i wish i had some money right now, i hope they will ceep those juicy prices for a while!

jnev 02.26.2007 10:33 PM

Yah, I agree. Maybe 'till the holidays next year, lol. :005: Wouldn't that be nice.

MetalMan 02.26.2007 11:13 PM

Damn, I wish I saw that before I paid $250 on Ebay for a used Hyper 8! Oh well, the Revo will have to serve the ~MT purpose.

I would probably want the tires for the most part...

jollyjumper 02.27.2007 09:35 AM

i thought HB had something coming up for the truggy scene.
just a feelin i had.
so if there doing dumping-prices now it must be right.

I can probably sell the tires to you. I plan on putting something like Badlands on mine when I get it. I'll be running primarily in a very low cut grass, so the stock tires won't do me much good.

phidailo 02.27.2007 12:12 PM

I am still waiting for my jammin crt but think I may pick ones of these up anyway! thanks

MetalMan 02.27.2007 10:43 PM

I read on the local track's forum that HB will stop producing the LSP as well as parts for it, which explains the price drop. I'll see if I can find the post that contained that information. Otherwise, this post is null.

EDIT:
Found the post. It's here:

I think that there supposed to be coming out with a newer model. About like the Lightining 2 buggy...I think they said it was supposed to be out by the fall.

Skellyo, that sounds good to me. I love the stock tires. They work great for some surfaces. I don't even need the rims, or inserts. Only thing is the set I have now is glued to 14mm rims, and I can only use 23mm rims since I did the 8mm axle conversion. I to plan on getting a set of Badlands for mine as well. Let me know how they do.

Sylvester 02.28.2007 08:49 AM

Are the parts gonna be interchangable with the newer truggy? I hope HB will still supply parts for the LSP!

jnev 02.28.2007 07:27 PM

I am guessing that they would be interchangable, because otherwise, I would be guessing that Hot Bodies would get a lot of complaints from people that have the lightning right now, and have no parts to fix the broken ones.

squeeforever 02.28.2007 11:47 PM

I'm guessing some will be, but not all.

skellyo 03.01.2007 01:32 PM

For any of you that were thinking about the LSP-R while it was on special, Ultimate Hobbies has pulled all of their specials on HB products. The LSP-R is back to the normal $439.95 price now.

I guess I spoke too soon. They are back on special again now. I guess they were just in process of changing up their specials page at the time I checked earlier today.

Sylvester 03.01.2007 08:07 PM

Too bad they dont ship to Canada :(

skellyo 03.12.2007 01:09 PM

Small update...

Received my Trakpower packs last week...ordered a 4th Trakpower pack today so I can do 2 runs sequentially.

With the help of Sylvester, I now have a bunch of hop up parts on the way...better caster blocks, steering links and CVD's.

And silly me went and bought a 2nd LSP-R just because they were so cheap and I had a spare MM I could use in it. Now I have to pick out a motor for this one.

Serum 03.12.2007 01:29 PM

on 4S that is..

What is your budget? you could set with a 7/8XL, but if you don't mind spending a few bucks; the Lehner or Neu would be a nice alternative..

skellyo 03.12.2007 03:26 PM

I have an 8XL for one of them already. I was looking through Mike's store online and was thinking maybe the Lehner Basic XL2400, Neu 1512 2.5d/f or 1515 1y/f. I figured with the weight of the LSP-R, any of these should work ok.
