Trying to build a track for the soldiers
A handfull of guys including myself decided we want to build a track here on the base in germay. The problem is we all didnt get into r/c until we came over here so none of us have any experience with track building. A couple of us have never even seen a real track in person. Any suggestions or building tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

these are pict i have taken at a local BMX track. the jumps are too big for racing but great for bashing.
http://www.radeks.net/wp-content/plu...?album=3&pos=0 what you need is lots of dirt to make jumps, at least a small buldozer as doing it manually just with shovels would take ages and here are pictures from a track used for mostly buggies but MT race there too thi i think they deserve more and bgger jumps http://www.modelklubkbely.cz/galerie.html |
good advice but the problem is I can dig at the site , but I cant bring in any dirt. Its going to be a lot of hard manual labor. So far I have only been told I might be able to get a small tractor with a bucket loader.
then you can make the jumps the other way - dig around them. jumps dont have to be huge as big jumps are hard to control especially during a fast race.
but before u start digging make a plan so you know what u doing |
Yeah thats kind of what the plan is right now. We want to go as big as we can on the jumps though we all drive monsters. How far apart would the jumps be on a triple or double?
here is a picture of bmx track thats is our favorite for big jumps.
http://smrada.mysteria.cz/galerie/rc...es/image2.html the problem with this track is that its hard to see the truck as the jumps are really high (2-2.5meters the biggest ones) and you need to see your truck ALL THE TIME |
Looks like a lot of fun. How long would it take me to drive there from germany?
I am pretty sure that in Germany there are BMX tracks too! a BMX track is nice for bashing, not for racing though.
well its 200km to German border from Prague where the track is .there must be something closer
Im sure there are bmx tracks somewhere around here I just cant seem to find them. I did find 1 rc track and it only had I jump and they wanted 120 euro/year to use it.
for an entire army 120 euro per year is not bad.. :p
well is its 120 EUR/year per use not per person than its a good price. normaly RC clubs here charge 50-70 EURO a year per person for membership tho you can pay like 40 euro less if u spend 15+h working on keeping the track
it is 120 per person thats why we want to build our own.
well if you get at least that tractor you should be ok building the track. its gonna be hard wotk but you can make it as you like it. if i had a place to make a track i would start doing it immediately
Hopefully getting started this weekend, thats why Im trying to get as much info I can about how high to make jumps etc...
a track for racing usually consits of tubbing to seperate lanes, also it uses dirt (of course). some jumps, burms, and the most imoportant a drivers stand.
Honestly, your best get would to kinda star to design it as you go, because that way you can tell how long to make the table top, or were to put the landing, or whatever. I would just start with the straight and a burm, then the jump you want. Have the beginning like you want, hit it with a truck under race conditions, and see were the truck lands, then make the landing there. That way you don't have a jump thats 20 feet, yet people undershoot it by 5 feet no matter how fast there going. Understand?

This is the track that maxed out and I race at. http://www.rcracephotos.com/special/westcoast3.html
To the left of where the camerra starts is the jump, you just can't really see it, because of the angle. This track is clay, and was built for electric 1/10th buggies and trucks, then E-maxxes came along. It's a good track, even for the E-maxxes, but if your building it only for monster trucks probably go for more of a 1/8 style track. And since your not bringing dirt in I guess you probably won't be using clay. Sorry I don't have any 1/8 track pictures though. |
