Trackpower.. yes, no?
I was thinking of going with 3 trackpower 4900 packs, 2 for my LSP and 1 for my B4, than sell off my maxamps packs.
Id get their V-balancer, and use my 989 to charge them up. Do you guys think it will be an increase in performance? Im already running a 4s2p maxamps 8000 lipo in my lsp and a 2s2p 8000 lipo in my B4. How could i balance/charge 2 of the flightpowers at once? They dont seem to have a balance plug attached. Last question ; the v-balancer is inline like the lba10, correct? Thanks guys. |

Yes, it will offer more power.
Good choice. the trakpowers rock. Balancing goes like this; the individual packs use small 2mm sockets; you need to make a special harness. |
If you decide to go with the Trakpowers, amainhobbies.com also sells them besides duralitebatteries.com. Not only that, but I can tell you a coupon code to save $25 off of $250+ from A Main as well. I have a feeling that I'm going to placing an order for some today.
|
Thanks guys! Skellyo, i have that coupon since i ordered some parts from them and got a coupon off my next order:)
|
Cool. The only problem is that I don't see that they sell the balancer or balance adapter. Duralitebatteries.com has both of those items available though.
|
I might be ordering off duralite since they have a dealer in Canada which means no duties to pay. Also faster shipping here. Than again, amain has amazing shipping too!
Hows the life on these? Longer than maxamps if balanced every run? I might get 2 and run both of them once in my LSP than charge and have 2 runs for my B4, too bad they dont have 8000mah for the price of the maxamps packs.. ;) |

My only problem is I have a good many IB3800's sitting at home that I've never used. Although, if I bought the Trakpowers, I could sell off all my other sub-c NiMh cells, save for the stick pack I need for my Wheely King. |
Also, FWIW Sylvester, icare-rc.com sells the Trakpowers, balancer and 2S balance adapter as well. I'm not sure if they're closer to you than duralite, but at least they're in Canada too.

A nice review in case some of you haven't seen it:

Seen that one, there is also a review on oople.com.
Im still thinking about these batteries.. Maxamps Great runtime Ok power A bit heavy Great price Track power Ok runtime Great power light OK price.. Ill have to do some more testing with my maxamps and see how they do.. |
Again;
Flightpowers, without a SPLIT second of doubt. |
Thanks for the words of wisdom Rene! :)
I will have to think about it for a bit, but i will very likely (90% chance) get the Track powers. |
here is the deal;
real life data from enerlands; (viruss) the enerland 5K packs deliver a stunning 3.6V per cell at a 110A burst |
I was thinking of the 6s2p 5000 pack, they are 40% off right now and are only 240 cdn! Any good? They are long as hell!
|
Just get those TrakPowers, dude. Don't make the prices and offers fool you. Quality over quantity, my friend.
I would say get them from duralitebatteries.com where you can get the packs, balancer and balancing connectors. I'd even go with x2 3s 4900mah FlightPowers( more power than the TrakPower) for the LSP-R and a TrakPower for the B4. |
Ok, 1 x trackpower 4900 for B4 w/ balancer adaptor, 1 x 6s1p4900 EVO20 pack for LSP, V-balancer and thats it... anything else?
I hope the lehner is ok on 6s.. 22.2*1867=41447 RPMs.. |
6S is quite ridiculous for racing/bashing.
|
Thats what i thought, thats why i went with the 5s1p 4350 lipo :) Nice in between setup, and still lighter than the 8000's. :)
|
Question, the Trakpower comes with the bullet connector with wires, right?!
|
Oh, I did not think you are going to race.
|
No, It does not. You need wires and connectors.
|
Link to those? I am partially racing more bashing.
|
Wires and connectors can be easily picked up from mike..:)
|
What are they, 4mm?
|
I recommend 5.5 connectors.
It's up to you by the way. |
Do they fit into the slot of the Trakpower? Also what gold plugs does the V-balancer come with? thanks.
|
Oh yeah, they wont. Use the 4mm ones with 12Ga wires.
5.5mm should be used for the FlightPowers( less resistance). |
Where can i get some 4mm's? Mike only has 3.5 and 5.5.
|
I think icare-rc.com has them. Also you can find them at towerhobbies.
You need connectors for the v-balancer, too. |
Somthing like these? http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5257

Just order my Trakpowers! :D
I ordered 3 packs and 2 of the balancers. It was news to me to find out that they have a specific balancer for the Trakpower packs that comes with the necessary harness adapter...and it's cheaper too...$44.95 versus $49.95 + $6.95. I told him about this site and he seemed interested to see if Mike wanted to become a dealer for them. That would be nice! Also, to anyone else running Trakpowers...the guy at Duralite I talked to was interested in photos of the Trakpower battery packs in the vehicles. Apparently they're working on a new website and would like some nice gallery photos. |
Cool!
Great buy! Makes me wanna order up some right now! |
Yep! Those are the ones.
If you are going to use them for the trakpower, you'll need three males and three females.( two for the pack, two for the controller and two for the balancer). However, if you're gonna use the 4mm for the balancer, this means you won't be able to charge the flightpower packs if you'll use the 5.5mm with them. You either have to use the 4mm generally or make an adapter to connect between the FP packs and V-bal. |
I've spoken to Mike about the FlightPower packs, too. He seems interested, but not that much. Someone must shoot him another e-mail about them.
|
Or i might use deans for the packs going to the esc.. will use deans on the balancer as well.
|
That's a good option too.

That would be nice. I'll remind Mike about the FP thing.
These packs MUST be carried in the rc-monster store. |

Well, let's give him a push, then.
