MetalMan's brushless Revo is at it again...
With some backflips this time :).
I have two versions, one with music, and one without music. To me, the one with music is more enjoyable. Music: <embed style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=8004745057686140871&hl=en" flashvars=""> </embed> Non-music: <embed style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=8033562449959479307&hl=en" flashvars=""> </embed> |
The music was fine, and even if it wasn't, it's not like the volume can't be turned down. Although, I couldn't find the mute button for the cameraman. ;) :)
|
Hey! Nice video, BTW, how does the 5s2p A123 pack perform with the 7XL? I'll be using 5s2p A123, 7XL, and Quark. Do you have an eagletree graph of a typical run?
Zero |
Yeah, the music does help drown him out a bit. However, he is better than no cameraman :).

Where are your tires boy!!!?

120 amps huh, quite a spike! 12.5 volts is actually pretty decent.
I want to get some Altair Nano "nanosafe" Lithium Ti cells. They claim 100C capability! Useless i know, but you would think if they have that capability, they should perform very well at the lower rates we drain at... they aren't generally available yet, is the prob. :030: When, i don't know. How does it compare with a 4s 4000mah LiPo pack? The average say... |
Nice vids MM. As for the 120A spikes, I believe that the spikes might even be higher. I don't have an eagletree, but was looking into getting one, until I realized that the max amps that it can handle/record is 100. From the posts I've read, I'll assume that it will actually do 120, but probably not an accurate max current reading if the spikes are over 120. If this is incorrect, please let me know. I'd like to get an eagletree, but if 120A is as high as it can go, I'll wait until I can afford a model that can go higher.
|
It's 100Amps continuous i believe. I think it should read as high as current as you can put through it until it blows up. It's just a heat issue i think, if you could mount it to a heatsink, the power throughput would most likely go up. It's mearly monitoring the power going through, there is no FET switching involved, so very little heat generated.

Nice!! Whoa Ho! :020:
|
Nice Travis. Next time go for some front flips too!
And for heavens sake, get that truck a body!! :) Daf |
AWSOME video Metal Man,Is 5s 123 cells same voltage as 5s Lipo, I'm thinking of buying the 540C 7XL for my maxamps 4s lipo and my quark 125 pro,What top speed can it reach without thermalling using it on a race track?
Are they the same power with my Hacker XL motors? |
nice video, did you change pinions when you put on the buggy tires? Is on-road performance better with the smaller tires?
|
Very cool video. I liked watching the one with no music. I love the sound f the car. It looked like you were hittign some decent speeds as well.

The A123 cells are rated at 3.3 volts nominal, but from my experience, they are more like 3.15 volts nominal. Depends what motor you are using, 5s2p can be faster than 4s LiPo, and sometimes not. The main benefit of them is you don't need voltage cut-off, very flat discharge profile (good for racing), and potentially 15 minute charge times (with the right supply). They are also very robust, durable, and are claimed to last 1000+ cycles, but we all know RC puts alot more stress on these batts. It has alot to do with the running temp more than the discharge rates for the A123's. Heck, i've had mine for a year now, all summer and fall I was running a dual 820 dewalt setup in a 12 lb rally car. They are still like new, retain almost the same mah rating, and i even shorted them out a couple of times by accident. |
nice thing about lipo's you can have more runtime (capacity) at the same weight.

Thanks for the comments, guys!
Serum - I decided to try something a little different with the tires. Both wheels are 17mm hexes :005:. AAngel - I have yet to see a spike over 120amps. Sometimes the voltage will be at a lower point, like 11.5v (down from 12.5v) at a 120amp spike, even when the battery still has a lot left in it. So, it appears it isn't capable of going over 120amps. Dafni - It was fine without the body :). Besides, both of my bodies for it have large cracks in them :(. luvsrc - 5s A123 is 16.5v, 5s Lipo is 18.5v. There's a bit of a difference, but 16.5v is fine with me. I have yet to see my 540C 7XL get above about 150 deg. F, in the street or on the track. I do punish it pretty hard on the street (as you can somewhat see). With the Maxx mashers the 7XL got to about 140, and with the 1/8 buggy Road Rages it got to about 125. The Feigao 540C 7XL is pretty much the same power as the Hacker 7XL, but the Hacker 7XL should be slightly more efficient (I don't think it's enough to justify the almost doubled price). elegal - The gearing was the same for the MT tires and for the buggy tires. I was surprised that it was going so fast even with the smaller tires. Quote:
The A123s do have one major advantage, though. They aren't sensitive to overvoltage like Lipos are. Because of this, I haven't felt the need to balance either of my 5s2p A123 packs in a while. I've gone through about 5 cycles each since I last balanced them. |
I like the GRP 17mm wheels.. they come glued with moulded foams inside. They look an awfull lot like the wheels used on the 8ight 8t..
|
Serum, do you mean these ones?:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...gy&FVPROFIL=++ |
Exactamundo!
They look like the real deal to me. Moulded foams.. GRP makes good rubber. and i've seen a movie some dudes where banging on them with a big hammer.. after some searching; http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...TJPProductions |
Those are nice rims/wheel set. What size hex do they use? Kinda looks like 17mm.
|
they are 17mm nice strong rims
|
MM, I have to comment again, that the vid was nice. Your truck seems to run very smoothly without any hiccups. That compro looks like it's doing its job, which is a relief to me, since I just ordered one instead of the Quark.

Nie truck Metal Man. That thing moves!
Those GRP wheels are crazy... |
The Ofna's are probably your best bet, unless you wanna go with the RD Racing knuckles w/8mm axle kit and run buggy hubs.
|
Metal man nice video and nice weet set-up!!
Love the Jumps!! |
Sweet set-up!

Very nice MetalMan. I really like your Revo. The MGM is it? Seems to do very well! I likes!
|
Yeah, it's the MGM that arrived at my door as a replacement for one I sent in 6 months before I got this one!
|
Looks fun...can't wait until my G2R is ready. I'm sending the X-Braces into George for a free replacement tomorrow. :D
|
Will you be joining me for some back-flipping fun? :) I think you might enjoy it :027:.
|
Not too sure about backflips (will have to see how strong those new X-Braces really are). But I will backflip my CRT .5 all day. Only problem is it wont be up and running until June at the earlest. However, in the meantime, the kit is supposed to be here next week for me to start planning and stuff.
|
Ok, thats it Travis, I'm coming over, and I'm bringing my ramp over (I'll post some pics of it tomorrow). My buddy and I threw it together in about 45 minutes out of some plywood he had laying around. I've been getting some decent air time out of this thing.
|
only six months?! they must have been on speed drugs at MGM..

I got promoted at work so now I have weekends off. I'll let you know. Need to get my Maxxs' back together. Blown rear diff in my single BL Maxx, new CVD's and Acer bearings going in my dual BL Maxx as we speek, and on the hunt for a Mamba 6800kv for my 18T that my local Hobby People says they won't have for a couple of weeks. T-Maxx is running though. Did I mention that I get some nice air time off of my new ramp? Lol.
|
Johnny, I can get you a M6800. Did you want just the motor or the whole system?
PS. Lemme know when you guys are gonna bash and I'll join you :D (I live like 5 min from Travis). |
