OMG! My Jammin is COMING!
Just ordered my Jammin CR kit for 250 bucks - 30 +35 for a THS driver kit. Total was 463. I ALSO just ordered a Jammin motor mount, UBEC, and kyosho spur. Mamba max, fegio 540c 8xl, 14t mod 1, and all necessary wire and connectors is coming next. My first BL 1/8th scale project. Wish me luck! ;)
|
Sweet! I hope you ordered a camera to keep us all happy too. :018:
|
lol, no need, already got one ;).
If you guys want pics from a n00b's conversion, I'll GLADLY post them! lol. Been in RC for almost 6 years now, and I'm up to the cigarette equivalent of 4 packs a day. ;) It's my nicotine. |
Sure, we're always happy to see conversions!
|
Hey, noob conversion sometimes show the most ingenuity. There's always more than one way to skin a cat and some ways are better than others.
|
^^^ Yup, what he said! :)
And you might have done some detail that hasn't been done before and help others out. |
|
Thanks guys for the encouragement.
Skellyo, HECKS NO! I got this one:http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJDB4&P=7 The original CR. |
Heck, I didn't even know they made that version. Although it looks like that version isn't going to be available much longer:
"*This buggy is being replaced with an upgraded Factory Team version OFNC4959.*" |
Cool!! Good luck and keep us posted.

YEY! IT came yesterday!
But I had MJOR diff problems. It took me 2 and a half hours to fix it and Turns out I broke a diff cup. I put a center diff outdrive in each front and rear and f/r outdrives in the center and realized AFTER they were assembled. grrrrrrrrr..... My complaints so far are the instructions and the some of the tediousness of the steps. The instructions make NO note of specific things like left and right and aren't very specific, which I expected a little, but not this much. The parts aren't marked left and right and the arms are right f/r on one instead of left/right on one parts tree. The fronts hubs aren't marked left/ right. Other than that, OMG! I see now why people pay this kind of money for buggies.....GORGEOUS! |
should of gotten an xray, no problem assembling those.:D
|
Ahhh, XRay, the love of my life.
So, where's the pics of the CR? If you haven't done it already, you might want to go ahead and order some extra suspension arms. From what I've seen, the CR(T)s handle very well, but wear a bit faster than others around the pins. Maybe it's the plastic they use. When they get to a point where you notice the handling degrading, you'll want to change them. |
^Thanks, but looking for parts, figuring out which bag they're in, and time has made me only able to assemble the front suspentions and steering assembly so far. I'm getting there though. So far I only have pics of hte box, contents, and my favorite pic, everything laid out ;).
I didn't want the X-Ray ONLY BECAUSE: I got a pro level national chapion for the same price and already have a spur that's able to fit. Plus, the breakage was my fault, so whatever. |
I'm busy with a CR conversion as well. I didn't have problems with the assembly per se, but I had and still have problems with the design of the rear antisquat setup. The FTE kit ships with a 3 degree alloy antisquat rear arm hinge plate, but it doesn't align with the front hinge plate! Whoever designed this kit took a shortcut and didn't design front hinge plates to match the antisquat angle set by the rear hinge plate. To get the rear arm hinge bolts in you either have hammer them in, or you need to switch to the plastic antisquat plates that are able to flex. Luckily the kit includes both the alloy upgrade and 3 standard plastic antisquat plates, but talk about bad design.
My other gripe with this kit is that some of the brand new ball links have slop straight after installing them... WTF. I think I'll go Mugen next time. |
^That's interesting, I didn't have the ball cup problem. But GEEZ! CAN THEY MATCH BAGS TO STEPS! OMG!
But wow, everything is a work of art on this buggy. The braces are like air.....yey! ;). EDIT: Well, it's almost 100% but I still have to fix the center diff and get some extra screws for the chassis braces as I was shorted :(. |
