HPI Sponsored event....G2R takes em all...
 

Hey all,
Its been a blast here on Okinawa with my G2R....Last month there was an HPI sponsored Monster Truck event held here...There were 4 events, each event was scored by points and in the end the most points won...Sorta like an olympics....
Events were as follows:
1- Concourse & Customization (best looking and most customized 1st through 5th place points awarded)
2- Monster Drag ( 2 runs in each heat....A down and back format...1st through 5th points awarded for each run)
3- Obstacle Course ( 2 runs each heat....Down and back over various obstacles, 1st through 5th points awarded for each run)
4- Extreme Jump Competition ( 2 runs to anyone who had the balls to do it, 3 judge panel scoring max 20 points from each judge held up by a sign)

What made this unique was that for event number 2 and 3 we had to drive our trucks into a box at the finish line, each box was numbered 1 through 5...
Whichever box you made it into was what place you got for your run...If we did not make it all the way into a box our trucks were reset and we had to try and get in again....If somebody snuck in on you, you had to find another box....it made it interesting to say the least....

I got second place In the Concourse, And First Place in the rest of the events....BUT much to the surprise of the crowd and the other racers......I got 3rd overall...... :mad:1

Congrats on 3rd place. I too think you should have placed higher, but what can you do... it was an HPI event, lol. (They're racist :005: )

That triple backflip was just insane. Did anything break on that jump?

Sounds like you had a good time! Did you win some type of prize because you're holding a box of something in one of your pics?

Now that you've blown your diff, you can get a set of Mike's hybrid Revo diffs. :)

Funny you mention that....The hybrid Truggy diffs are on the way as we speak....
Also....The actual first prize that was Supposed to be given out was a new Savage X RTR package....They had it on display for the 2 days of the event and even had a sign saying that it was first prize....Well they decided to change the prizes at the last minute....I think it had something to do with a total domination by me and my buddy who got first place....
In the end all he got was a savage race suspension kit and i got a work stand....:031:

Sounds like bull$h!t to me...How do you get 1st in all but one, and second in the other, yet you get 3rd? :032: Personally, its stuff like that that gives a company a bad name...Great job though man! Wish I coulda been there for that one.

Typical...HPI holds an event and when Traxxas comes and destroys everyone the event goes down in scale.

Congrats - you and your friend are both #1 in my book.

As for the dude that one first place in concourse...all I haev to say is... OVERKILL.

Oh its kinda a wierd layout....The pic with five of us is the concourse winners...but its 1st, 2nd, 3rd...ect from right to left....so It was my buddy who got 1st in the concourse ....then me second....

Congrats man. Very well done. I'm sure that everyone watching knew who should have gotten what and why.

This is just my opinion....but I think it went something like this....

"OMG look at that truck....It is SOOOOOOO Awesome.....Look....He just blew the pants off a .28 modded savage thats being driven by an HPI Pro Driver....
WHAT.....It's ELECTRIC.....NOT FAIR, HE BROKE THE RULES....HE'S NOT ALLOWED TO WIN....DAMN FOREIGNER...."

But hey; you got your article on the e-revo in that mag! (and a pic of you and your daughter covering an entire page.. )

Not bad at all.. Too bad these events are not held in my area..

What setup did you used on your bl monster?

Yeah man, I am very pleased with the coverage....I was also in 2 other magazines(working on scanning them now)....So I'll take all the publicity over the win anyday....cause in the end I did win....
The setup you see there is a 6XL powered my 18.5v maxamps Li-Po on a schulze 18.97KWF.....
VERY FAST....

The Schulze just can't handle the 6XL at low speeds....It heats up too fast....

Seems like you got a lot of attention with your BL revo then!! Over here people are still sceptical about them and avoiding them at all costs.. :)

Carefull with that schulze! you don't want her to go up in smoke.. Sell it while it's in 1 piece!! and get a controller with some service behind it.. :) (perhaps it seems like a joke, but i am dead serious)

the 6XL on 5S!!! WHOOOOOOT!! that's one HOT bugger.. my 7XL on 5S was freaking hot allready, i hope you are using the maxamps packs in 2P (8000 pack?)

if you want real power, set with a Neu motor. The XL motors are nice, but once you've got the Quark, nothing is stopping you to use a more efficient Neu..

One thing;

did you played with the timing on your schulze? you can set all sorts of things on it. (9/19khz, hard/soft etc)

Does the 6XL heats up btw or is it the schulze?

6XL on 5S? Geez, I thought the 8XL on 5S was too hot. LOL.

The Schulze is heating up, but only cause I can't run it wide open......
When I have space to run it above 70% throttle, I have no problems with the controller's thermal protection....The motor is always the same temp at 130F....This i like very much.....

Who do you think is responsibile for the "politics" that allowed you to become victim to the old "bait & switch" ?? That would have made me sick to my stomach.

I know it must have been a difficult decision...........On one hand, you could have tried to make them make it "right" by awarding you the "said" prize you had earned, or giving you everything back you paid to enter the event & compete, which we know you did. OR having to accept what happened and just enjoy the exposure that comes your way and knowing that you were the BEST on that day.


Thanks for the great vids & text too. It is all very interesting.

I know who was responsible for the switch.....but i really don't care anymore...I got more out of this than anyone else did so i'm satisfied....even if i had gotten 1st place and the Savage X package I would have sold it on ebay anyway.....Nitro Sucks.....

Now thats good thinking! Its a shame that HPI got embarrased by your BL Revo - "an electric traxxas beating all the Nitro savages, we cant have that" - but like you said, you got alot out of it and showed up everyone else in the process.

Edit: Just watched the videos.... You completely thrashed all the other trucks in the drag race, and the 1st run on the obstale course too. But the 2nd run- came off worse in the tussle around the bend, yet you still finished ahead of a few other guys with only 3 wheels.... I think that says it all really.
