help with bl choice 4 kyosho twinforce.

hello im new to this forum. id would like to get some opinions on bl motor choice for my twinforce. i have looked at a motor called feagio 7xl i think but couldnt se the specs of the motor. my bl esc has a rating of 100A continious and 120A surge for 10sek. i can feed it between 2-6 lipo ore use 6-16 nimh my budget for motor is only 100usd. im problably gonna run on 4cell lipos and 12 cell 4200ib nimh that id allready got. i also have the choice off putting dual bl esc and motors on it thats why the budget for motor is only 100usd leaving room to buy another esc and motor. hope to hear from more experienced monster owners :)
many thanks and please ask fore more info on my project.

Hello ghostrider; Welcome to RC-monster!

for 4S a 8xl would be a nice motor too. The 7XL would work too, no worries, but the 8XL gets less hot and will give you slightly longer runtimes.

Please read the sticky in the brushless section about brushless in general.

serum was first lol :p

i have one and i'm gonna try to fit a neu thin can in it.
the 8XL would be better then the 7XL imo, gear it with a 22t pinion.
that is if you run standard maxx tires.

welcome to the forum btw.

ghostriderlund 05.04.2007 04:06 PM

cool thanks fore quick response :) 8xl it is then :) its a kyosho twinforce with stock rims and tires. but what would be smartest to choose from for a dual bl setup? 8xl ore 7xl? and anybody got the specs on how much amps the 7and 8xl motor draws? i think this is gonna be my favorite forum :) lots of powerfreaks in here.

dual BL isnt needed, promod does 50mph on 4s and single motor.

LOL i agree. My first bl experiance was with my e-savage with the mamba 5700 and i was going to put 2 in, but i drove it with one and it was too much. And that was just a 5700 mamba motor. An 8xl is nice i am ordering one in a minute.

ghostriderlund 05.04.2007 05:33 PM

hmm i know its possible to get 50mph with single but its damn cheap for me to get dual 8xl setup in my truck. and for starters i will only put in 1 and get used to it and then decide if i want more. :) im not that unused to overpowered rc. i have lots off 1:18 scales that i modd with bl and race them on track. so speed is not new to me at all.. thanks 4 all your comments guys :)

Trust me, dual BL isn't necessary. With the added weight, etc., you won't gain much at all. If you have the cash, and want speed, go with something like a 6S setup instead, along with a Lehner motor. That will be were the powers at.

I agree. I think a more powerful motor setup would be better than the 2 you are thinking of. If i had more cash i would definitely go with an esc to take more cells and a better bl motor. But it is up to you on what you do. If you want the 2, get the 2. It would look pretty coll too.

Just out of interest, how much does your Twinforce weigh, with or without batteries? I would say an 8xl motor and suitable esc too.

not much for an 1/8th scale.

ghostriderlund 05.05.2007 04:23 AM

hello guys my twinforce weighs only 4,5kg with 12 cells and rtr with the stock config dual 550motors. i have done some changes to it to get the weight and the cg down so it handles better. with lipos and the 8xl it would be just about 4kg i guess.. but what motor will you suggest then if i have to use only one. my bl esc can do 6 lipos or 16nimh cells and 100A const and 120A peak. is there another option? i dont have unlimited funds.. i have 280usd to go with and already i got batts and 1 bl esc. and for 280 usd i can get another esc and dual 8xl.. hmmm i dont want to do something thats plane stupid.. i dont want it to look cool i want it to run like hell :)
thanks for your advice guys.

jollyjumper 05.05.2007 04:26 AM

wich esc is it?

ghostriderlund 05.05.2007 04:37 AM

re:esc

its specs is all i can say about it. it can handle from 2 pole motor and up. uses soft timing for 2-6pole motors and hard timing from 6poles and up. has a rating of 100A const. and 120A peak it can handle 2-6lipos or 6-16nimh

ghostriderlund 05.05.2007 04:39 AM

and i can use 6cell lipo with 6000mah or more if needed.

ghostriderlund 05.05.2007 04:53 AM

ok a thin smooth can version of the motor you are linking to? ill try to find it and se what the specs are. but are you sure that that motor will out perform dual 8xl motors? thanks 4 all your help

is it this one?

jollyjumper 05.05.2007 05:01 AM

the one i mean isnt listed in the store.
i'm pretty sure it would be really fast on 6s.
the one you linked is to little.
maybe a 1515 would be even better.
if you are that interested in dual bl then you outta ask johnymaxima about it, he runs 7XL's in a maxx.

ghostriderlund 05.05.2007 05:06 AM

ok dual 7xl in a e-max? cool ill have a chat with him about it. but really i dont care if it has 1 ore 2 i just want it to go really fast :) and it would be a hole lot easier to just to instal one kit. but i will go with the setup that give me the most power pr buck. thanks again 4 all your help :)

jollyjumper 05.05.2007 05:25 AM

no problem dude.
the best bang for the is probly a 7XL on 4s lipo i think.
