Goin' Dual Mamba Max 6900 in E-Maxx

Will have this project finished in a few days as soon as second Mamba 6900 system comes in.

AAngel 05.21.2007 11:14 PM

That does sound cool, but why? A single XL can motor will do the same thing, if not more on less juice.

gandalff 05.21.2007 11:54 PM

Y not?:)

Serum 05.22.2007 01:16 AM

Welcome to the forum!

because a single XL motor is cheaper, stronger and more efficient.

Nice Tonka you've got there..

Serum 05.22.2007 08:27 AM

one single XL will outpreform a dual 6900 Johnny!

Dafni 05.22.2007 09:06 AM

Yeah, and will be cheaper and lighter too.

Procharged5.0 05.22.2007 10:03 AM

Welcome Gandalff!

Hope the two "sync" well for you. That would be my major concern. Two motors fighting each other would be hard on equipment & run times.

Serum 05.22.2007 10:24 AM

With two controllers you don't need to worry about being out of sync Barry. Unless they are turning in opposite directions.

Procharged5.0 05.22.2007 10:57 AM

Are you sure serum? Both controllers would need exactly the same programming files at a minimum or they would in fact "fight" each other even if only minimally.

Serum 05.22.2007 11:04 AM

It's a rather smooth motion, the turning; one low RPMs it might affect on or the other, but it's not as essential to have a perfect timing as with 2 motors on 1 controllers. The MM (or any brushless controller suited for our applications) uses software that enables it to turn from a minimal amount of RPM's. The MM is the slowest turning esc i know. still more than a ~120rpm start though. (guess)

They are not fighting eachother, since you have got inertia from the magnet. They are not endless fast in response to the magnetic field that powers the rotor.

Dafni 05.22.2007 11:04 AM

Same programming goes without saying.

Opposite directions would be an interesting experiment :)

Serum 05.22.2007 11:08 AM

I'll get the camera Daf.. Hang on..

Dafni 05.22.2007 11:24 AM

I'd pay for the spur, and make it a steel one :)... but who donates the motors and ESC?? :027:
LOL don't forget the dual eagletrees

Sorry for the Hijack, Mithrandir.

Procharged5.0 05.22.2007 12:48 PM

Dual Eagle tree's! Perfect! Would love to see the current graph after that one!

Agreed, he should have gone dual XL's.:027:
Procharged, I've never had any "sync" issues with my dual XL's or dual 9L's. Smooth as butta. :027:

Good to know!

When I suggested dual Mamba Max 4600's for my Supermaxx I received numerous "Don't do it" responses from the RC-Monster Collective, so I went for the NEU1515/Mamba Max.

That's why I was raising the red flag.

I gues it's not a problem, so ... nevermind! :010:

AAngel 05.22.2007 04:50 PM

I don't view it as so much a problem, as less than practical. Of course, practical is not a word that I see used very many times on this forum.

Practical is boring!

Everyone here like to break new ground! Push the envelope! Let smoke out even!

:005:

gandalff 05.22.2007 08:53 PM

I just want to try it. If it does not work I can put the motor systems in something else. Maybe a bl dual motor 4-tec  I will find use for them.

The USPS can be slow at times. And frustrating!
