Traxxas "V"
Hey, anyone else notice that huge spinning "V" on the Traxxas home page?
Could this finally be the LONG awaited E-Maxx Refresh? Maybe "V" is for Volt! Maybe "V" is for Very late! Lets see if we get "passed over" again. DM |
I wonder if it has anything to do with their boats? They have the Nitro Vee and the Villain. Have their boats been revammped yet?
|
That would be a serious letdown IMO. All the hype and people speculating on the Traxxas boards just to find out it's a new boat. Ack!
|
Yep, there has been talk about the "V" on so many different forums, and everyone is just guessing what it will be be. The most popular guesses I have seen though was a truggy, e-revo or a boat. I haven't heard too many people think it is a new e-maxx.
Anyone remember how it was before the revo came out? Was there a new symbol? |
Nope, no symbol.
|
Well, it can also be perceived as an M. I'm personally hoping for a new electric monster. Something ground breaking like the Revo was to the T-Maxx.
|
Its an electric revo.
Just wishful thinking on my part. I know nothing as usual..... I've been wondering about that for a few days myself. Just hadn't gotten asking if anyone knew... I'm sure we will find out in a few days or so. Traxxas is usually has the new items just about ready to ship before anything leaks out. Total opposite of CC. It seems that they start advertizing before they even have a product designed, speced or even halfway thought through. That place is bass ackwards. |

While I'd hope it's the Volt or some such E-Maxx refresh, my thinking is that it will either be some kind of Truggy as that is a huge market that Traxxas likely wants a slice of - or a V-Maxx twin cylinder Monster. Possibly even a twin cylinder four stroke.
DM |
Maybe the V will be for V-Maxx? Who knows!?!?
|
My thought is this...why the heck would they even bother with the suspense if it were a boat? I have to think that rc boat sales versus car/truck sales is pretty small in comparison. It wouldn't make sense to have such a suspenseful release for a boat when they didn't even go to that extreme with the new Stampede, Rustler or Bandit which are extremely hot sellers.
My guess is that it's 4WD and has tires. :D |
i think i saw the V in the past and it was boat related :)
|
v-max = 120 mph.
Great work traxxas.. not bad for a revo truggy.. |

It could be a mini.....like a Revo or maxx to battle the MINI LST2 & RC18MT....... Could be the E-Revo, or a new E-Maxx ....both probably with brushless power "under the hood". |

Its sad that these are some of the few boats you can find in most model shops, I guess lots of folks have been put off by poor first RTR boats, If they get the revamp right it would be very good for the long term future of model boating as a hobby. The 2 hobbies aren't that different, for example the two in this pic share the same Motor, Battery, Ubec and RX. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...Picture096.jpg |
The hydro looks like it's seen better days! LOL!
btw, i have a 48" replica of a 48' Chris Craft yacht. Fully stained & varnished decks, working searchlight, 1hp gas motor, etc. Used to have a .60 powered 42" Hydro as well. I'm considering building a brushless hydro in the near future. |
That spinning V (or whatever it is) is quite hypnotic :)
Maybe it's this new BL truck that this guy from Taiwan told us about :032: :032: |
She is 13 years old now, so she has seen better days and worse days. She never was a looker tho, given to me as a failed experiment in how light you could make a saleable hull, it came from the factory with gelcoat you could see through in places, several cracks and a thumb hole at the back of the top deck where someone had picked it up onehanded in the wrong place (its covered by the silver graupner sticker under the wing).
Since then I've reglued the seams on the pickleforks twice, remounted my wing once and wicked cyno into uncountable cracks in the gelcoat. but the cloth has held up to the flips There was a lesson learned here, if your building a a very light hull dont use gelcoat. Boats are great fun, if you want to run for fun you can use a 1/8 scale gear in a 24"-28" hydro with a small prop for a nice fast boat with some runtime. If you want to compete you will need probably new stuff, the top peeps in P hydro (the 12cell/4s class) will be running enerland 4500/5000 4s 2p, neu 1521, castle hydra 240 or schultz 170 watercooled in a 30"+ hull, proped to not melt anything for a 90 second run. |
I've seen some of the videos. They are amazing.
I've considered tossing my NEU 1515 into a 28" Hull to see how it wwould run. I'd need a better speed control to make it work...something capable of 20 cells |
i just saw somthing about v for vegas.
|
V for Vendetta..
|
Here is the thread about it at the Traxxas forums, if anyone else wanted it:

My guess is that it has something to do with machstang top secret project..
Must be... |
haha yep i am just that damn connected traxxas is building me my own truck LOL.
|
nativepaul- I used to have wallpaper that looked like your bedsheets.... long time ago. I've always wanted a fast Rc mono, what with living in Dartmouth and having a massive river estuary & reserviour to play on. Only thing that puts me off is if I flip the boat, I would have to go for a swim to retreave it- not like a truck when you can just walk over and put it back on its wheels. Do like fast boats though....
|
Then you need to make a BL submarine! :)

I said the submarine post in jest, but after thinking about it, it's not such a bad idea. Mount a little camera behind a clear window and you can see where you are going. Maybe even put a fishing hook on the rear to troll for some fish. :)
|
Well if you fancy a mono fliping is no problem, most eco style shallow V monos have a high rounded canopy that makes them self righting if they roll, or if a scale offshore deep V is more your thing you can partition off part of the left side of the hull, cut the transom out in that area and cut some vent holes in the top, when you flip this will fill with water and sink, hanging down in the water when you aply power the wedge shape of the hull will make it drive off right way up.

9pm central time.... Im 5 hours ahead of you guys so I'll be asleep by then.... poo. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out. On the boat front- useful to know what can be done. On the sub front- I like the idea of a scale torpedo rc; we get alot of big destroyers & frigates come into the river due to the Naval college here.... bet they should poop themselves if they saw a 'torpedo' heading towards them one afternoon. Im so evil sometimes....
|
WOW give that marketing guy a bonus in 2 days that thread has 57 pages of post with people wanting to know what the hell the V is going to be. :)
|
How much longer is it until...?
|
About 6 minutes as of right now...
