Need a 6s ESC! Which?

Hi everybody,
I'm running with my brushless savage (ex Serum Bashing Savage) with 4s maxamps, MM and a feigao 9XL and it work very good, but now I'm thinking to run with 6 lipo!
What esc could I buy?

I like Quark Monster 125, but I read that has some problems (cogging?) to 6s at full charge and I don't want fry it.
The alternative Is MGM Compro 160, but is out of stock and I need it soon.
What I can do? Buy the Quark or wait for MGM?
Something else?

Bye,
Alex.

Yeah, the MGM24160 or a BK9920/12020 with a LVC.

I didn't knew you had my bashingsavage.

I too was actually thinking about an MGM since I sold my Mamba Max system (I was planning on using the esc and sell the 4600 motor). How is their customer service and quality of their product? Is programming fairly simple and is it pretty smooth?

Thanks. Sorry for the thread hijack.

If the MM is working for you, why are you going to mess with a good thing? So far, I've had the best luck with the MM controllers. I'm on my second Quark, and after a month, I still have no word from MGM on my 16016 that I had to send them, due to software issues.

MGM's customer service is mediocre in my book. Sometimes they return emails, sometimes they don't. There is definitely a bit of a language barrier and if you send your esc in for repair, good luck. Mine's been gone for a month and I can't even get a status from them.

I was running the MM (I have five of them) and decided to "upgrade." I bought both an MGM and a Quark. Right now, the only ones still running are the MMs.

MGM does not have customer service! Six month repair times are not unusual, and I never got an e-mail returned from them to even acknowledge they had received mine.

Unfortunately, the Compro is a more robust controller than the Quark is. The Compro is much more solid and runs far cooler than the Quark. The Compro has a few software quirks that take getting used to.

All in all, I think the MM is the best controller out right now. If they would release the Neu fix, I could live with the MM indefinitely.

Hmmm, since Mike already has a ton of parts with the RCMonster label, he should make an ESC that meets our needs as well: up to 10s, 200A constant, USB programmable, stays cool, digital BEC. :)

Yeah, 10s LiPo would be the $H!T. Although, these controllers can DO the amps we need, it's just the sad issue of poor man's thermal design power...:019:

I wonder if adding more caps to the Quark, if that would allow it to run 6s no problem? I would like to try it some time, maybe when I get a 1512/2Y Neu. (1400 Kv)

How did't you knew!?! :027:
Don't you remember, but I told you in another post:

I bought the bashsavge through Danverz (Daniele).

However, your bashsavage works great!!!!!!
I'm using it a lot and it is perfect but now is time to going more power :027: :027: :027:

Serum 05.27.2007 05:49 AM

That makes sense!

Make sure to use a motor with a 36mm outerdiameter.

Good to hear it's going strong, but 6S! man, that's a hand full.. :)

gyn77 05.27.2007 09:17 AM

Do you think my Feigao 9XL with boca bearings could run good at 6s or must buy a 10XL?
I would prefere take a Lehner 1950, but it seems impossible to buy a LMT motor!

I have hardly decided and bought a BK 20120 Esc, now I need a lipo cut off for 6s, where can I find it?

Serum 05.27.2007 09:26 AM

Mike should have them in store, they are the ones with deans connectors soldered onto them (they are simple an inline LVC, they don't need extra soldering)

8XL on 6S is hot, doable, but hot.

the 10XL would be a better choice.

Have you seen that movie (an older movie) with a savage, 8XL and 6S Kokam 3200's?

Dafni 05.27.2007 09:33 AM

If you want to use high capacity Lipos (long runtimes) you should get a 10XL.

captain harlock 05.27.2007 09:46 AM

So, the MGMs aren't that bad, eh?

Oh Yes!
I want 6s because I have seen the video your're talking. :005:
Here is the video: :027:
http://video.google.nl/videoplay?doc...6&q=hpi+savage

I have decided that I'll try before my feigao 9XL with a fan on the motor and a fan on the ESC, if the setup will be too hot, then I'll buy a 10XL. :007:

If the guy in this video was running with a 8XL and a warrior 9918, I think my setup with 20120 and 9XL could be little colder.
If I don't understand bad, 20120 is better ESC of 9918.. Is'n it?

Please, can you help me finding LVC on rc-monster?
I searched it, but not found.
