Video of Traxxas V Brushless
RC Car Action Magazine has posted some videos from their testing of the new Traxxas Brushless VXL Bandit, Rustler and Stampede. Theyr are reviewing for the August issue wich will go on sale in the next couple weeks.
They look like they have some kick to them. Wonder what voltage they are running in the videos. http://www.rccaraction.com/ME2/dirmo...C5EFFABA1B8B95 |
Ah, they looked alright, but my son's toned down MGT rips better than those. LOL
Really, my hat's off to traxxas. They've taken brushless into the mainstream. From a performance standpoint, I don't think that many here will be impressed, since we've seen and already have things that will far outperform what Traxxas is offering but.... This may be the proverbial "foot in the door" that we have been waiting for and could lead to wider acceptance of brushless in general and more importantly, lithium polymer batteries and the like. I have to admit that my interest has been sparked and if I have some disposable money laying around, I might just pick up a Rustler just to see how far the system can be pushed. If I blow something up, I'll just throw a MM into it. |
Nice find. I'll definitely be waiting for this issue. Wonder what their thoughts on it will be...
I'm thinking to do the same thing AAngel. |
Just noticed in some of the shots in the bandit video it looks like they have wheelie bars like the T-Maxx 3.3. Another cool new accessory.
|
i'm thinking about buying a rustler, only to ebay the BL setup, and put my neu in.. rustler's have always been fun for me. I'm guessing it's just from that video, but that doesn't seem any more powerful than a lehner basic setup. we don't know cell count either though..
|
I would imagine that they were running 3S lipo with stock gearing, but who knows.

They look like they've got some decent poke to them. We don't know what battery setup they were running and how heavy the drivers were being on the throttle, so I wouldn't compare power just yet...but they were pretty quick nonetheless.
|
I'm getting the Transmission internals of the VXL for my FLM tranny case. Traxxas has improved those too.

I believe there 48p, but the Jato Mod .8 (32p) and the Revo Mod 1 will fit no problems since they use the same slipper.
Also, they appear to have alot of power actually. I would think that was on 2S since that will be what most will run, aside from the normal 6 or 7 cells. Just keep in mind there 2wd with wheelie bars in dirt. There probably spinning those tires 90% of the time. |
Yep, they should be 48P spurs. 5mm 32P pinions shouldn't be too hard to find if you do throw a Neu in there.
|
I thought the stampede was the most impressive. Which it should, because I have always thought with low KV motors, the higher the load the better it runs
A4DTM, If you are serious I'll buy it, if the price is right |
i hope that would be after you have tried running the neu on that velineon esc.
|
That might drop the value if it survives, then it would be used
|
Anyone know if the "V" will handle 4-polers?
|
VXL+neu
I have tried vxl esc wih a new motor 3600kv.....
do not run....simple cut the engine when it starts the fun.... Now i am a little worried because it looks like vxl and neu do not mix.... some help please!!!! |
Just passing on the info. I posted this on another thread that was related as well.
Traxxas is reccomending that LIPO is NOT run on their systems now. Apperently the ESC's can not handle the power as previously stated. They made a statement that Traxxas will not honor damaged ESC warentees on units run on LIPO. Sorry, this is the actuall statement Li-Po's Not Recommended For New E-Maxx Posted on Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at 11:35 AM by MikeW Although we reviewed the E-Maxx 16.8 in the February issue, using Li-Po batteries, Traxxas does not recommend doing so. Ni-MH batteries should be used in the application instead. Using Li-Po’s runs the risk of fire, explosion, or simply ruining the battery packs. Never attempt to use Li-Po’s in the 16.8, unless you are very experienced and familiar with Li-Po technology. The use of NiMH packs will NOT significantly diminish the performance of the new E-Maxx 16.8. |
What does that have to do with lipos on a brushless vxl system? Traxxas is reffering to the evx on the emaxx.

triggeraa had a good point and you have knee jerked into attacking which in my opinion is unacceptable.
this is a velineon thread and thus posting info or statements not pertaining to the velineon system need to be need to be clearly outlined as being about a different product. Some people might think that traxxas is not recommending lipos for the velineon systems. |
Calm down guys, those two are just messing with each other! I love the assclown pic, that is hilarious!
