You gotta see this

I know its nitro, but its so cool. A 1/4 scale New era monster truck with a supercharged connely V8, it sounds like a real monster truckhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxX8y...elated&search=

gixxer 06.08.2007 06:34 AM

it does sound cool, but I think my neighbors would want to kill me, if I drove that around the neighborhood.

2FastSS4U 06.08.2007 07:28 AM

That looks and sounds sweet, wish I could've seen it do a wheelie though. :D

snellemin 06.08.2007 09:13 AM

I would have a blast with one of those.....if I had $$ for one.

jnev 06.08.2007 10:05 AM

Very cool. I bet all my neighbors would be riding in the bed of it... lol.

neweuser 06.08.2007 10:29 AM

That is very sweet! He had to put some work into that baby!

crazyjr 06.08.2007 03:52 PM

If he could do a modern monster truck chassis, Like gravedigger, that would be fun to see. It looked a little too stiff for me

Patrick 06.09.2007 12:30 AM

That's what nitro's should sound like. Unfortunately it not as fast as the noise makes you think it will be. With a smaller lighter truck it could be good.

+1!! One of the pro-nitro arguments is the "realism" of the sound. But to me, regular nitros sound like overgrown mosquitos. This one actually sounds very nice and realistic. Seems that the power would be better suited for 1/5 scale or smaller though...

AAngel 06.09.2007 01:55 AM

I think that he should convert it to electric, then it WOULD do wheelies and he wouldn't have to worry about the neighbors.

2FastSS4U 06.09.2007 07:13 AM

That's not nitro, it's gasoline isn't it?

jnev 06.09.2007 11:01 PM

I am also pretty sure it is gasoline.

BrianG 06.09.2007 11:18 PM

Gas, nitro, whatever. They all make too much noise and are smelly. :)

A BL setup for something that size would be expensive! Let's see:
  • 2215/1.5Y motor: $550
  • ESC capable of 10s and 200A : estimated at $600
  • 10s 10Ah lipo (2 X 5s1p): $550
Hmm, $1700 and that's not including the radio, servos, truck, and custom parts.

Patrick 06.09.2007 11:29 PM

I'll volunteer for that project when I win the lotto, until then..., since Aangel was first the first to suggest converting it I think he should try it. Although it could end up being really really expensive if he starts having any more of his famous good luck :005:

BrianG 06.09.2007 11:33 PM

ROFL! Yeah, with his luck, the whole truck will explode!

Patrick 06.09.2007 11:35 PM

At least it would make a good video.:027:

Serum 06.10.2007 02:44 AM

Well, with the speed he is getting now you could set with a mm 4600 combo..

Very nice to see/hear that V8 roar though..

AAngel 06.10.2007 03:05 AM

OK Brian, let's get it straight. Lipos don't explode, they just burst into flames. LOL.

Now, you guys are killing me again. I've never given any thought to doing a truck like that, but...I'm a small guy. I'm about 5'1" tall, but stocky. I like to ride dirt bikes in very sloppy places, so I have to ride a bike on which I can sit and touch both feet to the ground. It sucks to get stuck in the mud and not be able to touch the bottom of the bog. You just kind of sit there for a second and then fall over.

Anyway, I ride a modified YZ85. It has a 100cc can on it and weights less than 140lbs with a full tank. It is WICKED fast. The problem is that I have to rebuild the top end every 20 tanks or so and replace the crank bearings every third rebuild, depending on how hard I've been riding.

How is all of this sounding for a conversion. I'd love to do away with the engine and tranny. I don't need it to be as fast as it is now (100+ mph), but it needs to be quick. I could live with a 50 mph top end.

Anyone have any ideas?

AAngel 06.10.2007 03:06 AM

Oh, and I think that all of you guys are jinxing my with all of this talk of my bad luck. LOL.

I bet you are able to make them explode..

The bigger the conversion; the more it costs when you blow things up Aangel...

AAngel 06.10.2007 03:13 AM

You know, I find myself looking to RC Monster forums more for its entertainment value than its informational value. You guys are nuts. LMAO.

I could see myself, after having wiped, laying on the ground, in the mud with my bike on top of me, just praying that the battery doesn't go up.

Serum 06.10.2007 03:16 AM

And when you least expect it, praying for your batteries to be save, the 150V 300A controller blows up right in your face..

AAngel 06.10.2007 03:32 AM

OK Serum, I can't laugh any more. My stomach is starting to hurt.

jnev 06.10.2007 11:22 AM

Here is a thread I posted a little while ago of a Yamaha R1 converted to electric.

BrianG 06.10.2007 02:00 PM

lol, this is pretty funny stuff. Like Serum said; I know lipos don't "explode" but you'd find a way to do it!

AAngel 06.10.2007 03:07 PM

Hey guys, it's not like I do this stuff on purpose.

BrianG 06.10.2007 03:14 PM

Let's just say you are very good at finding the weak spots in any system. :)
