Revo diff cup

Hi mike !!!

I would like to know if the revo diff cup you sell for the price you have listed, is that for 1 cup or 2 cups. Also are they machined or cast. Thank's

Dafni 06.17.2005 02:14 AM

Unfortunately that's the price of one  But they are serious quality, milled out of one piece, I think.
Mike, please correct me when I'm wrong.

I hope RCM-Mike can get his hands on some alu diff-housings soon ;) Hint Hint

Dafni 06.18.2005 02:39 PM

Tell you what, they are cast :o Sorry for the mis-information.
But I can tell you from experience, they are a good fit.

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 10:28 AM

The diff cups are not cast, but machined by EDM, just like their maxx diff cups.. And daf is correct, the price is for one diff cup.

Dafni 06.19.2005 12:21 PM

You sure? Check the inside of one of them, looks cast to me. But I might be wrong, though.

DAF

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 12:30 PM

What you see is the "burn" marks from the EDM machine. While I am note 100% sure, I am almost positive these are made with an EDM machine. An aquaintance of mine(master tool and die maker) suggested this was the method by which they were made.

Dafni 06.19.2005 12:34 PM

Interesting, you might be right.
Either way, I think it's a good hop-up towards a driveline that can handle a serious BL.
Next thing I'll be looking for will be alu diff housings. Any ideas Mike? I saw some, somewhere, but they were not avaiable yet. Can't remember where, though.

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 12:37 PM

The only concern I have is the small screws used to attach the cup to the ring gear. these were prone to failure in the maxx trucks (which is why the aftermarket diff cups went to 3mm screws). You have been running it, though, so they must hold up fairly well. By diff housings, do you mean the bulkheads?

Serum 06.19.2005 12:40 PM

I too thought they are molded, by the looks on the inside. That rough surface made me think the same as Daniel. They can be moded and machined on the outside.

Dafni 06.19.2005 12:46 PM

By diff housing I don't mean bulkheads. I'm thinking of this 2-piece shell that holds the bearings for the input and output shafts. See what I mean?

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 12:49 PM

Those would a nice aluminum option part for sure!

Dafni 06.19.2005 12:56 PM

Here they are:

What do you think?

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 12:58 PM

Cool. I guess I will have to get myself an account with 3Racing so I can stock them for you!

Dafni 06.19.2005 01:03 PM

Ja, good to hear! Do that, Mike. I'll also check their alu rims. Already smell a new order ;)

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 01:09 PM

I just sent an inquiry e-mail to set up an account. Hopefully, they will respond tomorrow.

Serum 06.19.2005 02:24 PM

I have got very, very good experiences with 3racing from HK. I once bought integy shocks, who had wrong size of o-rings, Integy was not willing to help me out, 3racing asked me for my address and 5 days later i had the o-rings. They willing to help for sure.

They make all sorts of hopups, for all kinds of trucks/cars. I like them over GPM.

It would be nice if you could get an account. I think it wont be a problem, because they also sell directly to customers.

Dafni 06.19.2005 03:43 PM

A new connection!? Would be great!

Can't find their alu 40 rims, though.

Serum 06.19.2005 04:42 PM

Well Daniel;

let me help you out..

here is the link to their site.. Just be patient, it might take a while (understatement of the century) before it's fully loaded, and their 40 series are on the bottom of the page.. :D

Dafni 06.19.2005 04:57 PM

Rene, I can count on you. Thanks for the link.

Ooh, and a dangerous link it is! Their stuff is just TOO nice.

Mike, if you can work out something with those guys, you should stock some things. Check the alu 40's! Not quite lightweight, I know, but looks durable.

Still, if I could find some, I would prefer the Ramtech 40's

RC-Monster Mike 06.19.2005 06:09 PM

If(when) I get an account setup with them, i will no doubt stock a bunch of stuff. They do have some very nice items.
I have New era 40 series aluminum wheels. They are very nice and also very strong-they aren't light, though.

The die hard racer added a little BLING to his truck?

I said I had them-I didn't say they were on my truck! :)
They are available to those wishing to "bling" thier own truck. You won't find anything this heavy on my truck!

Serum 06.20.2005 06:23 PM

That's what got me wondering..

Forgot you had a shop too... :D

RC-Monster Mike 06.20.2005 06:30 PM

:)

Dafni 07.01.2005 04:56 PM

Mike, any news on your 3R connestion?

RC-Monster Mike 07.01.2005 07:06 PM

No response from them! I will keep trying, though!

RC-Monster Mike 07.02.2005 10:48 PM

I found a distributor that stocks the RRacing parts! I will fax my taxID and apply for an account this weekend! Hopefully, I will be set up by midweek(they say the setup is fast). Keep your fingers crossed.

crazyjr 07.10.2005 03:01 AM

Their internal diff cups and diff housings are better looking and cheaper than what i've been looking at, i am interestedas well

Dafni 07.10.2005 03:14 AM

I guess I can post this here: Mike will stock 3R parts soon, this distributor deal worked out.
I'll be getting those cups and cases, the prices are good, and I only hear positiv things on 3R.

Serum 07.10.2005 04:39 AM

Great news! they make a nice line of products!

RC-Monster Mike 07.10.2005 09:39 AM

I have a few items in already (the distributor was out of stock on some stuff). I will get some stuff listed today.

crazyjr 07.10.2005 06:09 PM

Hey Mike, I found something a lot of REVO guys may need(A little off topic but it does involve the diff) for some reason i can't do a link, but at (www.gpmracing.com.hk) i found a set of hardened steel diff gears it is (part#STRV1200) it is a 5 piece set that includes a pinion gear.I just found it and thought i would it here, if i find a place in the US that carries them i will let you know. I was wrong that is a link i didn't think it worked

crazyjr 07.11.2005 01:12 AM

couldn't find them anywhere in the US. May have to go through a distributer.

RC-Monster Mike 07.11.2005 06:37 PM

I am pretty sure the stock gears are hardened, actually(the t-maxx ones are).

crazyjr 07.11.2005 08:39 PM

Mine look like their made of brass. I stripped mine out and all i see is what looks like brass all in the diff carrier.

RC-Monster Mike 07.11.2005 08:42 PM

They are definately not Brass! O good shimming will cure your stripping diff woes!

Serum 07.12.2005 03:22 AM

Shimming and aluminum diffhousings will solve the diff issues (the part that houses the entire diff)

crazyjr 07.12.2005 07:51 AM

Thanks, I was refering to what it looked like. I got new diffs on the way and they will be shimmed and upgraded before going in.How much play or backlash should i shim for? Also, Which diff cups would you recomend? And what mods are nessary?

Serum 07.12.2005 06:04 PM

With proper shimming, the gears must not engage, they must run smooth, without resistance and with the lowest play possible to keep them smooth running..

Aluminum diffcups and housings.. Integy makes the housings, and Fastlane or the Maximizer (maximizer is the better choice, they are 7075 aluminum and are a 1 on 1 fit.. (the FLM needs some work on the shaft to make it a perfect fit)

Dafni 07.12.2005 06:08 PM

Rene, I think it was about Revo diffs..

However, do you shim the spiders and the input pinion?
