Here are a few pics from today speed gunned my ZX5 at 70 MPH then jumped it was really funny till i got home and looked what it was going to cost to repair it :035:

HOLY !@#$ that is some sweet airtime! haha! how did the lipos hold up after you landed?

jnev 06.13.2007 05:05 PM

Holy sh*t!!! Thats crazy!! Should have gotten some video of that. :027:

How high do you think it was, and how far?

Sean 06.13.2007 05:10 PM

lipos are fine all though i have had one blow up in the past after doing simlar jumps.

not really much of an idea about how far or high id guess at about 70 foot its on video from two angles [plug]will be on the TM DVD[/plug]

zeropointbug 06.13.2007 05:13 PM

Looks like 30 feet air to me.

Hey Evil Canevil!

BlackedOutREVO 06.13.2007 05:16 PM

HOLLY!!!!!

DAMN! thats INSANE!!!! whats the damage? bessides what we see? lol

Sean 06.13.2007 05:20 PM

maybe its very hard to tell from that angle only measured a jump once and that was 70 foot (measured on the ground with a tape measure the jump is at the end of one of the TM DVD trailers) and it was going slower then thats what i based my guess on.

The damage is by far the worst ive ever done and ive done jumps this big quite a few times with it now but normally on to flat concreate this was like rubble and quite bumpy.

off the top of my head:
both shock tower
chassis
top brace
slipper shaft
drive shaft (which i bent back)

silentbob343 06.13.2007 05:34 PM

I honestly lol

It's a car not a plane ;)

bdebde 06.13.2007 05:37 PM

Serious hang time!

Gotta see some video of that!

cemetery gates 06.13.2007 05:44 PM

It's a bird, it's a plane, no wait it's an RC car!

Pretty sweet man! Question; is that a 2 speed I spy:dft012:? I saw some of those on ebay a while ago...

Bye:018:

captain harlock 06.13.2007 05:47 PM

You surely had some ACTION with this Kyosho buggy.
Is that a XL motor or L size one?

Sean 06.13.2007 05:50 PM

yes it is a 2 speed got it of ebay

Its an s can i think dunno what turn cant remember 5cm long if someone would like to confirm it.

skellyo 06.13.2007 06:15 PM

5cm would be a S can motor

supralover72 06.13.2007 07:46 PM

That's awesome man! That air looks like a lot more than when (I believe Josh Cyrul) jumped the house with his 8th scale!

crazyjr 06.13.2007 08:07 PM

I live near an AFB, They would have scrambled the fighters on that jump

aqwut 06.13.2007 08:33 PM

now that should be on those extreme DVD!ss.. GOOD JOB!!!

bdebde 06.13.2007 08:37 PM

Shoulda had a GPS on it, then you could check altitude!

Wow! I don't know how I missed this thread, but HOLY COW! You just need to have some kind of setup where you flick ch3 and wings snap out to get some serious glide. :)

2FastSS4U 06.13.2007 09:16 PM

Dude that's the sickest thing I've ever seen. Seriously, that's just sick! Congrats!

Yeah, like a transformer! LOL

Make for a softer landing too.

You see the gold can-thingy on the motor? That is the 2 speed, though I could never figure out how you would have brakes while using it...

Bye:018:

If you look real closely at the pic where the truck is in the air, you can just barely see it.

lol, j/k. Looks like it must be that yellow part of the motor. I wonder if it's a planetary drive setup that has a clutch that engages different parts of it to make the two ratios, kinda like how an automatic tranny in a real car works. That would allow the use of brakes and reverse too.

EDIT: Argg. cemetary beat me to it. I gotta stop getting distracted when replying...

Very cool will that work on any BL motor ?. Also since it's a two speed how would you know what pinion to choose ?.

cemetery gates 06.13.2007 10:04 PM

Look what I found:p

I wouldn't go any higher than an S motor for that since it doesn't look like it would stand up to serious torque.

I think that would totally kick butt in a touring car.

bdebde 06.13.2007 10:31 PM

I could get my RS4 up to 100mph with that! lol

AAngel 06.13.2007 10:55 PM

Geez, when I first saw that second picture, I thought it was a helicopter.

jhautz 06.13.2007 11:30 PM

:D Somehow I feel like there is something wrong with shooting your poor buggy that high into the air. But the fact that you just blatantly have no care about busting up you buggy is great. Wish I had the guts to fling a lipo that high into the air. :p

I like the little 2 speed thing though. Simple and effective. Isn't that similar to the gearboxes they use in electric airplanes? I wonder if a heavy duty one could be made for 5mm shafts, with 2 or 3 outrunner gears for extra strength. Theres room inside that housing to fit them.;)

crazyjr 06.14.2007 01:00 AM

I wouldn't do one with a high speed vehicle, no brakes

bdebde 06.14.2007 01:01 AM

...no brakes; that would SUCK

BP-Revo 06.14.2007 02:05 AM

Damn...I don't think 5 of my biggest jumps can equal that.

Sean 06.14.2007 05:08 AM

yea the 2 speed does disable the brakes and reverse but on that day i was running in with the motor jamed onto the spur gear really hard because the spur was stripped so there was enogh drag to act as an effective brake.

Thanks for the comments all.

Dafni 06.14.2007 07:21 AM

Oh lord, 70 mph with a draggin' gearmesh?? That's sick! Keep going! :)

Sean 06.14.2007 07:24 AM

planing to just got a pack of bits in the post this morning and replaced all the broken bits except the front shock tower now im just waiting on that and my mamba 6800 package i see the 2s limit as more of a challange than a limit lol still have my 5700 to stick back in if i trash the bearings.
