Who's going to the RCM Bash?

Well the RC-Monster bash is a week away now. Whos all going? I'm making the long drive and really looking forward to it. Should be a good time.

Anyone else?

HotnCold 09.08.2007 07:02 AM

Good to hear your attending Jhautz - I will definately be attending - as will Dafni who flew in from Switzerland and Rene who flew in from the Netherlands and a slew of other local racers. The turnout should be awesome - cant wait for the day.... Im going to be running BL Truggy and my Supermaxx and maybe a nitro revo.... What do you plan on running Jhautz?

Arct1k 09.08.2007 09:04 AM

Where is the bash? - I'm at 07928 - Any point coming for Sunday only?

jnev 09.08.2007 12:33 PM

On Sunday, from what I was told will be a big race at another track. It will be the "Battery Blast".

Read here for a little info on the bash: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7615

HotnCold 09.08.2007 12:35 PM

Yep - The bash is only on saturday this year - and jnev is correct, there is a big battery bash in Connecticut on the 16th ( Sunday ). I know that Monster Mike and dafni and serum are planning on attending the race on Sunday as well. Mike and Dafni will be over in a few hours to stamp out all the final details for the bash and i will find out where the race in connecticut will be held at.

Yea, I'm looking forward to meeting those guys as well as everyone else.

I'll be running my BL Buggy, BL Revo, BL Savage and BL Lightning Stadium 10 (and possibly my BL CRT.5 if I get it finished in time. Its curently in the build process.) I'm also going to bring a nitro buggy and Truggy to run. As long as I'm going to drive I'm just going to bring most of my stuff. I might not have enough tiome to even run all of it, but the way I look at it is its better to have and not need it than want it and not have it.

Does anyone who runs at Barnstormers have any tire recomendations for what generally works well out there?

Yeah, slicks would do fine!

(i hope i can be racing too, and i am a poor driver, so i advice you to use slicks in order to get our changes even...)

:rules:

Trust me.... you cant be a worse driver than me. If you dont have a rig to race, you are more than welcome to run any of mine.

BrianG 09.08.2007 07:47 PM

Someone should take a group picture of all attending forum members and post it here. Would be nice to match a face with a name...

Dafni 09.08.2007 08:28 PM

They say Crimefighters work there for as long as the track is wet, when it dries up they recommend Bowties. I glued Bowtie MTRs up for Mike and me, so that's what we'll use.

If the Monster and me won't hurry up now, I will have no truck to run... as both my RCs still need parts done. Still one week left though, and we are mad busy working on our stuff.

Yeah, I look forward to it like nothing else! Can't wait to meet you guys. It's all about meeting people and having a good time. Rene and me can battle out the last place. And I rather finish last than not at all.

See you guys soon!

Daf

hyperasus 09.08.2007 08:46 PM

I wish. I'd love to meet everyone and see their trucks in person.

HotnCold 09.08.2007 09:04 PM

Hey daf - you just left here a couple hours ago - you need work done - and your on the forums - shame on you - PUNK - LOL - ill see you guys tomorrow - maybe ill do my 1/8 scale after all...

crazyjr 09.08.2007 09:17 PM

I was planning till the other day to be there, But i think my transmission is acting up in my real truck. I guess i got bad luck this time of the year. I was really looking foreward to meeting our bro's from across the pond, Maybe next year

Electric Dave 09.08.2007 09:41 PM

I'll be there...I'm leaning toward running my E-CRT in both the truggy and brushless open classes. I'm a little worried about the 15 minute mains...my 4900's have not been pushed that far except for once and I was babying them. I will also (assuming my truck is still moving after Saturday) at the Battery Blast on Sunday. It's taking place at Galli Mods Xtreme RC in New Milford CT. Here is their web site link:

http://www.gmxracing.com/

Looking forward to some good electric racing. I'm leaving my noise maker in the car (well, I may steal some parts off it but I'm not racing Nitro...)

David Maffucci

Dafni 09.08.2007 10:00 PM

MacII, you'll be fine. The flyer is not correct, we meant to update it today. Electric only mains will be 10 mins.

HotnCold, yeah baby, we're at it. I'm cleaning and rebuilding Mikes GMaxx and he's cutting parts.

Electric Dave 09.08.2007 10:11 PM

Whew...thanks very much!

DM

Batfish 09.08.2007 11:22 PM

At this point, I actually expect to be there next week for The Bash

I fly home from a project in South Carolina Friday afternoon, then I plan on driving to NY to get there late Friday night.

I should have my G-Maxx and my brushless Losi 8ight buggy.

Hope to see as many folks as possible!

Electric Dave 09.08.2007 11:35 PM

Joe, you going to make it to the battery blast as well?

DM

cemetery gates 09.08.2007 11:40 PM

Unfortunately, I fly back to South Carolina at 5PM from Providence RI on Sunday, so I don't think I can actually make it.
I may be staying in NY Saturday night as well as Friday (with the family) - if I do, I'll at least try to stop by GMX early on Sunday, but I doubt it'll be much more than a visit.
Work sucks :whip:

I'm pretty sure there are a few guys from my local track (RC Excitement) that will be there again this year.

GeeReg 09.10.2007 12:16 AM

90% sure I'll be there. I won't be racing but I'll probably bring 2 of my trucks and all of my camera gear. I'll be the one with the giant camera walking around, so please don't ask me if I work for a magazine.

Arct1k 09.10.2007 07:56 AM

Sorry Where can I get details of the bash... I'm sure I will be very outdone equipement wize but would be cool to hang out for a while and give it a run... Thanks

GeeReg 09.10.2007 07:58 AM

There's info in the sticky at the top of this forum.

Finnster 09.10.2007 02:18 PM

I'll be going on Saturday and I'm glad to hear there are a few other poor drivers going so I don't look too bad. I'll be bringing my Revo that I've never raced. The closest I've come to racing is driving on the Barnstormers track for ~45min on the warmups before some racing (didin't have time to stay for the race.) Its a lot harder than bashing :)

I started getting the jumps down and learned to brake far earlier than I want to, but I never got the rhythm section worked out, and I had a horrible tendency to clip the back wall on the long straitaway, of course towards the end at full speed..... Only managed to pop the pillowballs once tho.

I had CFs on, they seemed good FWIW while it was wet. The track did tend to dry out alot, but its been quite a bit cooler in Chester (70s), so hopefully that will help. It may rain this week too

If I get a chance to get my rustler fixed I'll bring that for some jumping or other mayhem.

Arct1k 09.10.2007 10:06 PM

Advice - its on;y 70 miles away so looks like fun to pop up and watch but newbie to racing - love to bash...

Is it even worth bringing my MM e-revo 3s 9XL Emeaxx geared 24/55 or are you quark 4/5s neu guys just going to waste me!

I also have a 3s 5700 pede & Rustler I could bring... Battery wise i could have a headache to as I only have one 5i for all my packs.

What do ppl honestly think? I guess you never know until you try!

jhautz 09.10.2007 10:11 PM

Just go. You will have fun. And for sure bring your trucks. That would be silly to leave them at home.

When it comes to racing, speed is almost NEVER near the top of the list of things you need to win.

Tires
Driving ability
Setup
Smoothness
Consistency

Speed is nothing without at least having those things first

Hope to see you there!

Cajun 09.10.2007 10:25 PM

You guys have fun! I wish I could make it, just a little too far. There's always next year right? :D

As has already been said, you never know with racing. "On any Sunday" (or in this case Saturday) it's anyone's race to win. Racing is often a game of attrition. If you can BUILD like a champ, you may be one even if your driving skills are not as good as someone else. You can't win if you can't finish.

Definitely bring your trucks and run them...it's all for fun anyway.

As far more experienced ppl said, you never know what will happen.
I can tell you this however, the track seemed not too large, and fairly tight with lots of turns. When I ran my 4S/8XL on it, it was way too fast, even geared at ~35mph. No way you will be doing 50mph lol.

The only spot I needed alot of power was a large double right on front of the podium. It comes right after a turn and I needed a burst to jump it well. Take a look at the track layout on the website.

Pics

Edit: Well shoot, those pics don't show the track too well, and I can't find an updated track shot. Thought I saw one somewhere, maybe not tho.. It seem like they have alot of track changes. The closest one I could find to the current layout is this gallery from last year.

Dafni 09.11.2007 09:32 AM

Definitely bring your RCs along! Get some laps in before the races start and you are good to go. It's all about the fun and being there.

If enough people turn up with CRT.5s and 1/10 stuff they will get a class too, just bring what you have. Rustlers, CRT.5s, anything. The track might be a bit rough on some places for the small stuff, but it's the same for any racer.

For those who have only seen the track last year, the Barn guys extended it a bit. It has like an extra lane worth of surface on the back and on the left hand side. Jumps are pretty smooth, some rocks showing in the tight turns, a tricky rhythm section and some wicked looking landmines (I call them pimples  ) but overall looks like a good place to have some fun.

Let's all cross our fingers for good weather!! NO RAIN PLEASE, but not too hot either  At the moment it`s raining up here in NY

See ya on saturday

Daf

Electric Dave 09.11.2007 10:06 AM

Any of you local guys able to stop down to the track and snap a few digital pix? I'd love to see the layout...

DM

Dafni 09.11.2007 10:46 AM

We wanted to go there today to test our stuff, but A) stuff's not ready yet, and B) it's raining!

But I will take some snapshots when we are there. Hopefully it clears up soon.

Serum 09.11.2007 11:09 AM

Will there be an in-door track as well BTW?

Or do i need to bring balloons and PlastiDip?

Daf; you sure that's chillin' at the monsters lair? not working your genitals off?

Walter! Looking forward to the dinner..! You are coming over to the falls as well, right?

Serum 09.11.2007 11:14 AM

It's dry in VT btw, hope it'll last for a few hours, since i am planning on having a nice biketrip in a few hours..

hey hey hey now! No pre-testing, that's cheating  You need to show up and look as unpolished as all us n00bs. Lets hope it rains till friday, lol.

Anyway, hope to see what you guys got cooking.
There is an indoor track tho. A small 1/10 scale, but dry.

The indoor track will be closed - and i dont think that ill be attending the falls - but i did speak with my wife and Isabel is more that welcome to hang with my wife at our house if she dosent want to spend the entire day at the track - i live 10 minutes from the track - if she would like to do so - let me know Rene... Talk to ya soon -

Finnster 09.12.2007 03:22 PM

So how late does this event usually, and what are people's plans afterward?

HotnCold 09.12.2007 03:55 PM

I would venture to guess that it will last into the early evening - then its up to whoever to do whatever - there are local restaurants, diners etc if your desiring to grab a bite to eat. I know that there is a race in connecticut on sunday - so im sure some people who are attending that race might not wanna make it a late night as to not mess up their sunday racing. But im sure that people would hang out and bs for a while after the racing...

Arct1k 09.13.2007 06:05 AM

Hi - Quick question on pwr I don't have a generator or anything to power my EOS5i - Also only have one charger for all my packs but thats another issue... (only a problem if the heats go ok) - Is there power available? Thx
