Pierre, Great looking truck! How does it run? What are e-max lipos? Where did you get them? |
Thanks
It's not a finedesign kit (just motor mount and pinion) Hummm very interesting ! Do you have other pictures ? E-max is a brand of lipo (ex: http://www.arcaneloisirs.com/emax.aspx ) |
Hi :mdr:
I have a vidéo (by Chezoit ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRfUcwKLSoE or http://www.dailymotion.com/pierremax...shless_extreme Bye |
Pierre - just saw your video. Awesome - very well done!!
|
Dude seriously that video was awesome, great editing. Props man. What was that music?

Pierre,
That's a nice conversion. My buddy and I just finished an XT8 conversion too. It was nice to find that Xray offers a nice assortment of gears to choose from. Right now, we're running the stock front and rear ring and pinion gears, but have gone to a 45/20 gearing on the spur and pinion. The motor is a Neu 1512/1.5y (1900kv) and the controller is Compro 16016 on 5S lipo. We're also running GRP Big Park 40 series tires on it. It's a good solid 50+ mph truck and is the fastest thing in truck class at the Saturday night drag races. I love the XT8. I'm thinking about dumping my 8ight T and getting the XT8. BTW, I see that you are using a converted clutchbell with the FD mounts. MegaMotors has Robinson Racing hardened steel pinions with extra long shanks on them. If you are fastening that clutchbell on the very end of the motor shaft, you might want to try one out. Again, nice mod. |

Do you have any pics of your conversion? I am thinking about doing one too. |
thank you has all

is it just me or is that lipo tiny for a 5s?
what are the dimensions of that battery? |
That's how an off road truck should look :great:
|
Guys, my buddy is supposed to be coming to my house this evening. If I remember to, I'll snap some pics of the conversion. It's really nothing special. The XT8 has nice thick center diff bulks, so we just attached a motor mount to it. It took a lot longer to put the truck together than it took to add the electrics. I think that the actual conversion on the built truck took less than a few hours.
|
AAngel - how did you mount the battery? I bought a slightly used XT8 off flea-bay last night and am just looking for a few ideas.
|
My buddy didn't bring the XT8 tonight. We were going to run 1/18 scale at the indoor track, so he left it at home. I'll try to shoot some pics this weekend.
As for the battery tray, all I use is a flat piece of 1/8" thick aluminum bar that is fastened to the chassis in two of the existing nitro engine mount holes with standoffs. I use industrial strength velcro on the bottom of the battery and a large velcro strap around the battery. I've found that this holds the battery very well. I've had some pretty bad crashes and have never had a problem with the battery flying out. We had this same setup in the Kyosho. The car took flight at about 90 mph and then hit the ground and crashed. The battery didn't move. I used to make all sorts of extravagant trays and such, but it's tough to accommodate for all of the different sizes of batteries. It turned out that the minimalist approach works very well. |
Mike can make you nice custom battery trays, I have one of them on my XT8.
On another note: If you are worried about the rather flexy chassis of the XT8, we designed a chassis stiffener plate specifically for the XT8. Ask Mike about it. A nice extra tuning feature right there, you can easily remove the plate for flat Euro style tracks and extra traction. Daf |
do you have pics dafni?
|
Sure! I will create a new thread for it, don't want to hijack Pierres' thread too much... there's already one pic of mine on the first page.
Maybe I'll find the time to upload some pics tonight. Daf |
