need a power supply.. hows this?

how about getting a cord that plugs into a wall cutting the wires and the soldering deans onto them then connecting it to my charger? would that work?

i think someeon said theres too much amps volts or something goin through there?

thanks!

BrianG 09.23.2007 06:56 PM

NO!

...Not unless you want an explosion! Wall voltage is 120v AC and up to whatever the circuit breaker/wires will handle (typically around 15A). You need a 12v DC supply capable of a current for whatever charger you need.

lol kinda firgured that hhaaha wouldnt that be a show though!!

anyways thanks for the reply. ill just have to make another PC power supply... i couldnt figure it out this time though.. but o well

Good thing you asked first! You would've definitely blown your charger and maybe even whatever battery you had plugged into it!

I take it you read this already?

2FastSS4U 09.23.2007 08:58 PM

lol, thought you were getting out of RC? Good thing you didn't try the direct plug, that would've been nasty.

t-maxxracer32 09.23.2007 10:15 PM

well.. lol i am going to keep the rc18... maybe buy a couple minis. the big ones are just too expensive.

and with the charger thingy... i didnt really think it woulda worked but it was worth a shot to ask.

Yeah! That would've gotten him out of RC for good!

t-maxxracer32 09.23.2007 10:26 PM

hahah probably... i would have gotten back in later anyways it has happened a bunch.

i was thinking about picking up the
micro-t and just throwing in some bearings and that steering upgrade. wutcha guys think about them?

What's_nitro? 09.23.2007 10:30 PM

Well I meant you probably would've electrocuted yourself eventually. Either when you made the plug and first put it in the charger, or after you plugged it in and saw smoke coming from the charger and went to rip it out fast and forgot it had 120V behind it. Especially with a Deans plug, not much insulation there to keep fingers safe.

t-maxxracer32 09.23.2007 10:37 PM

ya even when im soldering and i hold the deans plug it gets WAYYY to hott to hold lol..

im glad im still in this hobby thuough! my girlfriend on the other hand... lol...

What's_nitro? 09.23.2007 10:43 PM

Yeah, how is she btw... :surprised:

t-maxxracer32 09.23.2007 10:45 PM

lol shes doin awsome lookin hotter than ever!

i might buy a micro-t for her hhaa! she will be entertained for about 5-10 minutes hopefully!

I use a pair of vice-grips to hold the connector. You don't need a lot of pressure - just enough to hold it steady.

It would be a shame to squish one of those! They're too expensive to squish!

thats why i buy mine from hong kong! like 5 bucks for 10 pairs!

What's_nitro? 09.23.2007 10:58 PM

If they get hot enough and they're clamped too hard, they will squish. I've had a few go out of alignment on me because I took too long to solder them and they overheated which allowed the contacts to drift. Happens much more readily with 12 AWG wire and up. They say not to solder them plugged in but it helps a lot.

t-maxxracer32 09.23.2007 11:00 PM

i know exactly what you mean. happened to me too a couple timeS!

BrianG 09.23.2007 11:00 PM

For that, it helps to attach another deans "pigtail" into the plug to help leech the heat away.

If you're looking at buying a Micro-T check this one out. http://www.teamlosi.com/Products/Def...rodID=LOSB0233

so its technically not 1/36th no more im guessing? maybe lke 1/30th? if thats possible? lol

pretty cool looking truck! i think i like the old version better though.. i like the racer type look. but i will see!

HotnCold 09.24.2007 03:14 PM

another trick to holding the deans plugs - try a rubber band on the handle of a needlenose - that works well as well....
