emaxx tranny

Hey sum people are saying that Fastlane is in the progress of making an aluminum tranny for the Emaxx.... is this true?
how much would it be?

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 06:35 PM

Won't know the price until there is a finished product. FLM is really fair on the prices, though. I may just have the tranny half made, to work with the g-maxx single speed.

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 07:06 PM

how bout for the people who still want their 2 speed... like me

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 07:10 PM

Tough customer, heh! :) I am sure the whole thing could be done for folks like you!

Shadow350Z 06.28.2005 07:22 PM

Thnx Mike
heh

Serum 06.29.2005 02:34 AM

And the nicest thing about this thing;

It will be the only CNC machined gearbox available.. (the gpm is molded)

Shadow350Z 07.26.2005 03:16 PM

any new news on the emaxx tranny??
how bout date it will come out?

RC-Monster Mike 07.26.2005 11:29 PM

I would guess it will be available in a couple weeks. Maybe sooner.

Shadow350Z 07.26.2005 11:45 PM

coo thnx Mike

Shadow350Z 08.26.2005 08:49 PM

hey Mike FLM Emaxx tranny out?

RC-Monster Mike 08.27.2005 07:53 AM

Don't have the prototype yet. FLM went on vacation last week, though, but said the tranny would be finished before they left. I will revisit this Monday.

Shadow350Z 08.27.2005 08:59 PM

ok
hope you get the prototype soon

Serum 08.28.2005 04:02 AM

Got a truck here desperately waiting for it..

Shadow350Z 08.28.2005 03:40 PM

ehh everybody has
everybody wants a bulletproof drivetrain
oh since were on the subject wuts the best diff upgrade that i can get at LHS and not online
I'm gonna get Integy Diff cases to start off but how bout the gears inside??

Serum 08.28.2005 03:45 PM

Stock traxxas..
The first batch was crap, now i heard people comparing them with the RR ones..

coolhandcountry 08.28.2005 03:49 PM

The robinson racing with aluminum diff cups do pretty good. They will stand a 7xl on 18 cells for a little while. Loosen the slipper up and it last longer though. Just take your time and shim the spyder gears up.

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 03:56 PM

hmmmm.....sounds interesting. I'm looking for a new transmission case, and I was just going to buy a new stock case to house the UltraMaxxed gears and Traxxas hop-up input shaft/gears. Let me know what you find out Mike!

Shadow350Z 08.28.2005 03:57 PM

is this the robinson racing one??
RR

Serum 08.28.2005 03:58 PM

Yeah, but you don't need them.. Stock is reliable as well..

That hopup upper shaft is from aluminum, i would not reccomend it with a high power BL setup..

coolhandcountry 08.28.2005 04:11 PM

Yep that the robinson. You better off to see if you can get it with the aluminum diff cup with the 3mm screws. Not sure what you can get a lhs. I order almost everything online. I am with serum on the upper shaft. If it is aluminum. I would not recommend it. Not with high power brushless. I tore the teeth right off the one I had. Mad a big mess to clean out of tranny. That sucked.

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 04:39 PM

3993X: Input shaft/ drive gear assembly, lightweight (18/ 13-tooth top gear) (hard-anodized/TeflonŽ-coated 7075 T6 aluminum gears)

you guys don't recommend this with an MGM160/Feigao 7xl on 14 or 16 cells? I'm beginning to question if the single speed conversion would be a more reliable solution for my needs.

Serum 08.28.2005 04:41 PM

Yeah, don't get it.
I am building my maxx too with the single speed conversion..

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 04:51 PM

is this considered thread-hijacking yet?

Serum, what gears do you plan on using? Is it safe to say using the appropriate UltraMaxxed gears in the single speed conversion will work wonderfully?

coolhandcountry 08.28.2005 04:53 PM

That teflon coated harden aluminum is what went out in mine. I don't recommend it. I can't speak about the single speed. I still running the stock upper gear with a two speed. I like the versatilality of it. I do different kinds of running. I can play in low and switch to high a let the tires swell up. Need to come out with some belts in rc tires to keep them in shape. I have not tried the serum factor with duct tape yet.

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 05:00 PM

I used duct tape inside bowties. It seemed to work pretty good. I just wish I didn't hit that chain link fence to tear a small hole in one of the tire's sidewall.

Thanks for the warning on the hop-up. Since going to the GMaxx side of the force, I'll probably use the "upgraded" input shaft/gears (I already have it) when I can build another stock EMaxx from the left-over parts.

coolhandcountry 08.28.2005 05:14 PM

If you like me. It shouldn't take you long. I have enough to start a thrid maxx. Not sure how i keep getting so many parts. Is that a musky in your avator. My aluminum shaft survived my novak hv maxx. It couldn't stand the 7xl to long.

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 05:32 PM

that is a muskie in my avatar.

I think I'm going to get rid of my HV-Maxx. I have to head to the post office tomorrow as the delivery person didn't try too hard Saturday to deliver my new BL system. My only experience with Novak has been the HV-Maxx, but so far, I'm calling it "just say NO-vak." It's just frustration I suppose.

coolhandcountry 08.28.2005 05:41 PM

IF you going to the 7xl. You will see a big difference. I am not downing novak. I ran my with out problems. My brother 2 weeks and it was shot. Brakes didn'twork and it didn't do no better than the titans. I did get one thing out novak I like there heat sink. It has big cooling fins for my motor. :lol

I think there is a site goes something like rc-monster something or another that probably has a cheaper heatsink than $280. ;)

Shadow350Z 08.28.2005 05:59 PM

Im using HVmaxx
can you guys give a list on what to get for bulletproof drivetrain
i alrdy have steel idlers from Mike
and rear MIP CVDs and getting centers and front soon

Serum 08.28.2005 06:04 PM

You got it sorted out perfectly allready Shadow..!

perhaps a diffupgrade when they die on you..

The hvmaxx is easy on the drivetrain.

Shadow350Z 08.28.2005 06:09 PM

r u serious?
all i need are
MIP CVDs center and front
oh yeah i might get shims
uhh where do i put the shims?

ok lets get back to subject
i wish that FLM tranny comes out soon

mt_enthusiast 08.28.2005 06:14 PM

my experience with needed upgrades were better diffs, shafts, and slipper. I suppose I should mention a new body too with the number of times it's been on its lid.

I have MIP CVDs all around, UE Spyder 6 diffs, and the strobe slipper and sprong. If you are running the stock slipper, my advice is run 12 pegs and little if any slip. For the diffs, I learned I went pretty much to the extreme. It looks like aluminum diffs with properly shimmed ring and pinion could have been enough. So far, I haven't had any trouble with the stock transmission.

Now back to topic. :)

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 09.02.2005 06:53 PM

Yah, sign me up for that tranny case!
It is a case right?

coolhandcountry 09.02.2005 07:13 PM

Mt ethusiast you have the bases covered then. Better safe than sorry. Better to have a driveline to strong than not strong enough.

Shadow350Z 09.02.2005 07:41 PM

hey Mike u recieved the prototype yet?

RC-Monster Mike 09.03.2005 10:00 AM

Not yet. :(

coolhandcountry 09.03.2005 10:02 AM

If you could just get half the tranny mike for the gmaxx conversons. You would be in good shape. Keep us posted.

RC-Monster Mike 09.03.2005 10:30 AM

Already in the plans, Leroy!

coolhandcountry 09.03.2005 10:40 AM

Okay then. Get half tranny out should keep half us happy. :)
