Maxx wheels on smaller trucks?

Hello, I read in another thread on here in the brushless section someone has fitted Maxx wheels to his pede. I was wondering how I could fit some onto my T3 if possible. As far as I know the hex size and axle diamater are different? Are there adapters/ways to bodge them on? I at the min run some Proline Masher 2K's on my T3, but would love to run some RPM 1 inch offset maxx wheels on it to make it a lot wider, helps a lot on tracks in the UK and would make it look more bling :)

Even if I have to get new cvds/hubs etc I'm willing to do it if I don't have to sacrafice strength.

Thanks!

I haven't seen anything that would be a direct fit for a T3. I also don't know if the T3 axle is long enough to accept a hub, since the regular wheels don't use a hub, just a pin. If you could put the adapter for Maxx wheels to be used, there would be a little slop since the 'Pede uses a 5mm axle, and the T3 uses a 3/16" axle (4.76mm). It could be done though! If you were also thinking about the front, well that would be a little more complicated.

Where could I buy the pede adapters? I can probably shim out the small amount of slop. I'm actually thinking of doing a conversion of the back to use RPM pede arms, which would also mean pede hubs/MIP CVD's, so then they would be a direct fit.

There are a number of places that sell the adapters. This slop can't be taken out, since it is from the hole on the adapter to the smaller diameter of the axle.

If you do a 'Pede conversion, and use MIP CVD's, then you can't use the adapters since they have a larger diameter than the regular 'Pede axle. But, you could use dogbones and HPI axles, since the axles are 5mm.

OK then thanks for the info. The adapters, are they just the bigger hex hubs designed for a Maxx or something entirely different? If its something different can you please give me a hint as to where I could buy them.

Cheers.

Yep, these adapters are just like the regular 12mm hex hubs, but they are 14mm instead to fit inside the Maxx wheels. There are several places to but them, but for your setup, you would only be able to put them on the rear since the front bearings differ from those used on the Nitro Stampede. Here they are:

Going to have to figure something out for the front, I'll find some crazy way of doing it.

Thanks for the links, now I know what to look for I found some on rc-monster :) And on ebay a couple $$ cheaper.

Thanks. Will be fun to see how well my T3 fares down the beach :)

The site is getting a bit cluttered with all the stuff, and I have lots more to add. No biggie.

I know a place where you can get clodbuster wheel adapters for the pede but I forgot where.

MetalMan 07.01.2005 03:13 PM

The 'Pede adapters to use Clodbuster wheels are (were?) made by Thundertech. Not sure if they are still being made or not.

HeavyMetal 07.01.2005 08:59 PM

Yeah I checked thundertech and I couldn't find them on the website. I swear it was there... oh well.
Have a good fourth everyone.
