Smoked ESC

Guys need your help ,I shorted out my Schulze speedy the other night and fryd her :diablo: We are 1 week out from our state titles and the only replacment speedy i can get my hands on is a mamba maxx ,is this ESC going to be OK to use with my Lehner ?? any help would be great & if you can get me another speedy to Perth Western Australia by friday some how please drop me a line .

bdebde 10.15.2007 10:04 AM

Mamba Max will work great with Lehner motors, at least up to 4s (with UBEC). Some have had luck at 5s as well, but that may be asking too much.

suicideneil 10.15.2007 12:24 PM

Just make sure you send Serum a pic of the toasted esc for his collection! The MM should be fin on upto 4s & 100amps or so- what lehner is it exactly?

ClodMaxx 10.15.2007 02:25 PM

i have a MM paired with a LMT 1940/7 hi amp... it runs smooth as silk on 4s a123 packs. haven't really tried it out thoroughly yet on 5s2p. if you overgear it, it won't cog but you can tell it's smoother when geared correctly.

Patrick 10.15.2007 11:17 PM

I race with maxd out. He runs a Lehner 1940 7t hi-amp, gorillamaxx chassis (G2 I think), racer-X arms, 8 racer-X upershocks, 1/8th diffs, VBS, sliperential (geared 40/18 I think), koolflight UBEC and 2 trackpower packs in series.

Serum 10.16.2007 01:27 AM

The mm works like a charm with the Lehner.

Can you please get me a picture of that smoked schulze?

Thanks!

maxd out 10.16.2007 02:53 AM

Sorry guys no smokey pics ,ive just sent her off for repair

I was going to try & fit the 32/170, 226Amps into the chassis but no longer fits with the slipperential

maxd out 10.16.2007 03:15 AM

Hey guys tried to post a pic ,but its a no go ??

Thanx for the advise guys

suicideneil 10.16.2007 06:43 AM

Upload a pic to a hosting account like photobucket or whatever, then just copy the img code and paste it into a new post.

Its big

BrianG 10.16.2007 11:34 AM

lol, that's big enough to BE the chassis! Slap the F/R suspensions on there and you're half done making a new truck!

suicideneil 10.16.2007 04:41 PM

Yikes! That thing is humongous. Where is the damage to, on the bottom or under the brain section I guess?

Finnster 10.16.2007 04:44 PM

Well if they can fix it at least you have yourself a nice coffee table

:intello:

lutach 10.16.2007 05:54 PM

I'll take the 32.170 if you don't want it LOL.

Patrick 10.16.2007 09:04 PM

That's not the burnt controller, it's his 32/170 that he can't fit his car anymore, because the slipperential is in the way. The burnt one I think is a 18.120 or 18.97 or something like that. There's about 4 people at racing that use Schulze's, and they don't seem to be having problems with them during races...only when they short them out.
He did use the 32/170 in his old car (used the chassis that I now use) with 24 cells, a hacker and did 106kph (66mph) a couple of years ago. I didn't get to go to that day, but I've seen the vid of it. Got pretty close to disaster.

squeeforever 10.17.2007 05:52 PM

What chassis might that be?

maxd out 10.18.2007 06:20 AM

Extream Chassis , IPP Chassis Rail (Composite ) Very Very Light , the truck was well under 5kg I think she was around the 3.8/3.9 kg not sure of the convertion to pounds.Rear arms were also composite ,with no need for a rear turn buckles

maxd out 10.19.2007 11:56 AM

Thanx for all your advise guys on the MM ESC ,placed the truck on the track geared high & drove it like i stole it ,,,,,,,didnt miss a beat ,,, Did how ever notice my motor and ESC did get toasty, witch is very different to the Schultz

ClodMaxx 10.19.2007 12:08 PM

yep - if you've got the lehner attached, you'll need at least a fan on the MM.

did the lehner get toasty? mine was always in the low 100's, while my MM was pushing 130, sometimes hotter. (pre-fan, that is. never got to run it with the fan yet)

coolhandcountry 10.19.2007 12:24 PM

I have seen that truck some where.

Any chance of a link to this chassis mfg?

lutach 10.19.2007 01:18 PM

I have 2 of the Xtreme Chassis, but never got around to put it together.

Serum 10.19.2007 01:29 PM

too expensive for a few sheets of cf..

suicideneil 10.20.2007 12:56 PM

Oh, I know that chassis now I see the website. Kinda like a cheaper version on the G2 cf chassis, sort-of. Still, does look rather nice- especially with those massive slicks mounted.

Serum 10.20.2007 01:35 PM

you call that relative cheap?

the gmaxx comes with dogbones, drivecups, front and rear skid

I call it relative expensive.

suicideneil 10.20.2007 06:57 PM

Well, the G2 cf is $328, whilst the Xtreme chassis is $170. Granted, you have to supply the chassis braces for this chassis, and there is no kick-up to the front skid, but it is a more-or-less complete chassis. That said, the G2 is miles better in terms of quality & looks etc.

The front kick-up is built into the bulkheads.

suicideneil 10.21.2007 08:41 AM

Ah, well, its not though. The front skid on the Maxx is angled upwards, and the bulks mount onto it which tilts them back, giving them the kickup angle. Where the upper-plate of the Gmaxx chassis (or chassis plate of a stock chassis) attaches to the bulks there is an angle to the bulks so that everything lines up like a jig-saw puzzle. Side by side though, there is no difference in shape really between the front and rear bulks- but they obviously arent interchangeable. I think these pics show what I mean best:

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...os/gmaxx24.jpg
Front- imagine it is tilted backwards a few degrees.

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...os/gmaxx26.jpg
Rear.

With the Xtreme chassis the skids are built into the chassis, and there is no kick-up to the front skid- I guess when you tighten the bulk into posistion though the skid will flex upwards to the correct angle?...

Patrick 10.23.2007 04:03 AM

Yes, the top and bottom plates bend to the angle of the bulk.
Doesn't sound right, but I've been accidentally trying to break it and I haven't succeeded yet.
Only problem is that it's not extended, and since the bottom plate goes the full length of the car I don't see how you could fit the mono block extension on it.

I see what you mean now, but like I said, its built into the bulks. Its also built into the skid, which I left out, but I see your concern about how the chassis has the skids built in, so that could cause problems.

If you really wanted to extend one, I would simply cut the rear off, drill some holes, and use a regular skid...

suicideneil 10.24.2007 10:38 AM

Theres nothing a Dremel cant fix it seems. :D
