looking for aluminum tranny

does anyone were to find a aluminum tranny cases

Dafni 07.05.2005 04:52 PM

Get the Gorilla Single Speed Tranny Conversion Kit, and you'll only have to look for one alu half case :p

I haven't heard of a reasonable tranny case yet. Either they are out of production, have a bad fit, or are just too expensive.

FLM is working on one..

(CNC) the other case that is available is molded, from GPM

coolhandcountry 07.05.2005 07:34 PM

I bought a blue andozed one for emaxx. I think i paid 139 for it without shipping.

RC-Monster Mike 07.05.2005 07:43 PM

I have FLM working on a cnc tranny case, as Serum mentioned. It will be a couple weeks at least, though. FLM has recently released an aluminum tranny case for the pede/rustler, which is pretty sweet.

Welcome aboard, coolhandcountry!

I would like to know when someone will come out with an auto shifting 2 speed e-maxx tranny. Or even better yet, an auto shifting 2 speed e-maxx tranny with a built-in center differential like the cen genesis.

Just day dreaming. I guess I'll stick with my custom home grown creations...

RC-Monster Mike 07.05.2005 08:26 PM

The problem with an auto shifting two speed is you would need mechanical brakes.

coolhandcountry 07.05.2005 08:34 PM

I was going to try and put a tmaxx tranny on an emaxx. You will have 2 speed auto shifting tranny with brake to. I just haven't figured out motor mount yet.

starscream 07.05.2005 08:37 PM

This is true but you'd basically be exchanging your shifting servo for a braking servo. Also, if the center diff was installed along with the 2 speed you could adjust your braking for front and rear accordingly. I have ran my g-maxx with a tmaxx tranny and my e-revo with the revo tranny with great success and driveability.

I completed my E-revo center diff solution but blew my front diff on the first test run. I think it was already ready to go anyways. I'm thinking that the aluminum Revo diff case you sell may help my E-Revo diff munching problems. Do you think this will help?
I'll post pics when I get the new diff's installed etc.

coolhandcountry,
If you'd like, I can send you pics of my t-maxx tranny with emaxx motor mount. It mounts quite nicely to the t-maxx tranny case. I ended up mounting the t-maxx tranny backwards on the g-maxx chassis. I don't think it will fit the stock emaxx chassis though.
If this is what you want to do I'd recommed getting the gmaxx chassis.
Hopefully you have a drill, dremel, and files.

RC-Monster Mike 07.05.2005 08:45 PM

I think the case will help. I munched a front diff in my revo over the weekend as well, and will upgrade to the aluminum diff cups this week.

coolhandcountry 07.06.2005 06:53 PM

I have the g maxx chassis. I would like to check out your pics. Always like new ideas. I was thinking about running a four channel controler so the brakes would be on ther own control. I always trying to come up with something.

coolhandcountry 07.06.2005 07:22 PM

Mike is right on the aluminum diff cups. I have run a 7 xl nemisis on my truck with standard gears. It holds up very well. I would recommend them. Mike uses them so you know they have to be good.

Here's some pictures of my original g-maxx before I made the transition/conversion to the E-REvo!

This setup worked very well but I could not seem to dial in the suspension, bump steering etc. The Evo was the solution to my MT experience (hence my sig). The tmaxx tranny took the abuse of the brushless system well. With that said, the Revo trans takes the abuse just as well. You can see in the pics that the tmaxx trans is installed backwards on the gmaxx chassis with an extended brake rod (I used piano wire). With a few holes drilled in the emaxx motor plate and tmaxx trans, you can mount the plate directly to the tmaxx tranny. This setup was bulletproof

Cheers

That is a cool looking set up. I like it. You say you went to a e revo now. You like that better. I was thinking about the same as well. You have beat me to that to. lol Nice work though. I like.

Serum 07.23.2005 05:25 PM

What motor do you use for that 20 cell setup?

starscream 07.24.2005 01:56 AM

The motor I use is a maxcim N32 motor and controller, maxcim motors

The motor is rated for 18 cells but can handle 20 with proper gearing. I ran my revo with it on 14 GP3700's tonight and took first against the nitro's. I was surprised at the top speed I was getting from only 14 Gp3700 cells and a slightly higher gearing. I'm not sure what the run time was but we ran a 15 minute main and I had plenty of power left over.

I am going to get a Lehner motor and bk controller from Mike. I would like to run upwards to 37 volts. I'll probably start out with 22-30v (6s or 8s lipo).

Serum 07.24.2005 04:21 AM

I am planning on buying a HV system too (from Lehner as well), on 24 cells or so. you run very long on an overpowered car, because you can't run at WOT the whole time.
