Kyosho E-7.5 Finally Done

well i finally finished my buggy. its a Kyosho Kanai 3 as a base. I dropped in a neu 1515 1y/f with a pair of 2s 30c 5000Mah Neu batteries wired up in series for a "tame" 4s Setup ^_^ i didnt really have time to grab my camera and take a few pics of it yet because i was late to class... damn brushless car distracted me and i was late by like 30 minutes  but i got a minute or 2 of playing with it and i was very suprised. I've been racing for the better part of a decade now and I've never seen a 1/8 scale buggy do wheely's on command before... till now O_o

Anyway ill take some pics when i get home from class...

Mamba max ESC with Novak fan
Neu 1515 1y/f
2 2s 30C 5000 Mah Lipo Packs From Neu energy
Airtronics 359 for the steering department
Castle Creations BEC Set at 6V

I'll be down at Socal Raceway in Hunington beach friday with it too... ooh damn cant wait... 4wd Mod Buggy...

MetalMan 11.06.2007 10:12 PM

Wheelies, huh? What center diff oil are you running? My Hyper 8 doesn't do wheelies with Associated 30k in the center.

I hope you got a set of Hole Shots!

mwry13 11.06.2007 10:24 PM

40k but i dont have a throttle curve set yet and i usually dont like to but under the circumstances... i think i may have to set one up... i wish i had a laptop to take to the track with me so i can change that stuff on the fly... and i dont think it helps that i was driving it like a normal nitro buggy...

and it was on the asphault with a set of old Crime fighters...

lutach 11.06.2007 11:37 PM

Hope to see pics. I love how my close to 14lbs truggy with the batteries that weigh 470g each placed forward in the battery tray does wheelies. I have a solid center shaft. I had the diff with Ofna's 50K oil and it was unloading to the front wheels. Now it is a much easier truck to drive with the solid center shaft.

MetalMan 11.06.2007 11:45 PM

Too bad I work on Fridays... Otherwise I, and my laptop, could join you.

Would you be able to make it to SoCal on Monday, assuming they're open? Due to Veteran's Day holiday I don't have any classes.

mwry13 11.06.2007 11:48 PM

Negative... i have school Monday Nights and i usually work the morning shift... :(

MetalMan 11.06.2007 11:50 PM

Oh, that's too bad.

But if you want, you could swing by Hobby People in Fountain Valley on Friday any time after 3:45pm and show off your buggy to me in person .

BP-Revo 11.07.2007 12:02 AM

Don't forget about me!

I also have a laptop (which I brought to SoCal last time), so between Metalman and I you indeed CAN change setup at the track. :intello:

Let me know the next time you plan to hit up SoCal (either of you) and I'll do my best to join you.

My CRT is ready to roll, and this time I have some spare just in case... I ordered up some HoleShots which should be here Thursday or Friday.

How about hitting the track next Thursday - would that work for either of you? (I can't this Thursday, unfortunately).

MetalMan 11.07.2007 12:13 AM

As far as I know, next Thursday (November 15th), is good for me as well. I've got a bunch of stuff on the way - aluminum to make an extended CRT.5 chassis, a bunch of spares for the .5 and the necessary dogbone for the extension, parts to fix up my Dark Impact, and aluminum front and rear diff cases for my MT2 to get it to hold up to the torque of brushless. Add my Hyper 8 on top of that, and I've got enough running for a full day .

mwry13 11.07.2007 12:25 AM

mmmm thursday huh... i do have class but i wont really be able to make it there till at the earlyest around 5... and since i live in Riverside its a bit of a drive... in traffic... so unless something comes up where my 3'oclock class is canceled or i can ditch outa it... i dought ill make it... Fridays and the weekends are usually the best for me. My manager is pretty reasonable with schedualing since we have mostly part timers working there (like me)... ill definatly swing by F.V hobby people to say hi and all and then ill be at socal till racings over O_o

Oh I forgot - did you need me to order up any parts for you? I have to order some parts to fix up my T-Maxx to sell it, so now would be a perfect time to throw stuff in.

Even though mwry can't make it, did you still want to plan for next Thursday?

MetalMan 11.07.2007 12:39 AM

I get out of class on Thursdays at 5pm anyways, so can't make it to SoCal until about 6pm.

Well Clocked the Car at 49.8 MPH with a gps unit today... and the buggy weighs slightly heavyer than a standard nitro buggy ( by about 1/8 of a pound or so )... i must say im very suprised with how well this setup works because i didnt think a Neu 1515 would run on a mamba max without significant cogging.

MetalMan 11.08.2007 10:33 PM

I sure do hope you plan on gearing down for SoCal... My Hyper 8 is geared for about 33mph right now, and if anything it's too fast. You're not gonna use more than 1/2 throttle geared like that, and you can also have better low-end throttle response with a smaller pinion.

mwry13 11.08.2007 10:40 PM

Well... when i ordered the spur gears, pinion, and motor mount... Mike didnt have pinions in stock cept for the 16 tooth... and since there 12 bucks a pop + shipping... i cant afford em at the moment nor would they be here for tomorrow... so ill probly just drive it. the whole point of going down to socal at the moment is to break the batteries in and make sure the mamba can handle at least a 5 minute race under power. If its still toooo fast ill drop down my EPA on my throttel to artificially slow the car down. but i think it will be fun none the less ^_^

Hakan_J 11.09.2007 01:51 PM

Nice conversion!
Those NEU lipos looks very slick!

How do you charge them, seperatly or together?

mwry13 11.13.2007 09:40 PM

I charge them seperatly, i have 2 chargers so it takes about 50 min or so to do a full charge.

Socal was awsome over the weekend and i went to revelation on saturday. Socal i was doing the back quad with no problems when everyone else was double double doubleing. Revelation was awsome too, i made a 25 min main with a battery swap mid race ^_^ was fun to keep up or go faster with some of the fastest guys out there (chad Bradely, etc etc)

MetalMan 11.14.2007 02:14 AM

I heard you did indeed race on Friday in 4wd mod, just like you said . A guy who works at HP races stock 2wd truck on Fridays. Speaking of work, you didn't stop by HP in FV on Friday! BTW, we're gonna still be at SoCal on Thursday, I'll be there at about 6.

How's the layout at Rev right now? I haven't been there in a few months, but last time I went, there was a huge triple that the nitro guys weren't even attempting. I cleared it every time  (although not always on the wheels :oh: ).

mwry13 11.15.2007 12:37 AM

Yeah i didnt get a chance to stop by HP because i carpooled with a buddy of mine that also raced 4wd Mod with me... And Yeah i saw Geo there too

Rev has had only 1 track change since you were there (sad isnt it). Rev's layout isnt to "technical" right now. There is really only 1 section of the track that seperates Expert from sportsman, its a triple double section right off the strait away thats a bit tough to get if your not square... My buggy worked awsome... i ran a 25 min main with no problems and i had gobs of power to work with. When gas guys had to take a corner wide to clear a triple, I would just hug the inside and blip the throttle to make it over the jump :yipi:

Whens your days off? ide love to hit the track with your Hyper 8 to see how it compares... maybe we can work out a saturday or something... those are my usual days off.

MetalMan 11.15.2007 01:13 AM

I only work on Fridays and Saturdays, but have school at varying times Monday-Friday. Sundays are an option for me to hit up a track.

mwry13 11.20.2007 09:57 PM

I think im going to do the Airtronics race at revelation with my new buggy ^_^ im ordering some carbon fiber from Penguin RC to make a better battery mount... (unfortunatly Mikes is a bit on the expensive side) so i can make a reasonable time for battery swaps... gonna be fun.
