MGM fried immediately
I have been putting a conversion together for months, and today the mail man brought me the final piece to the puzzle. I unwrapped my new Neu motor from Ray Fuller at Fuller's Fast Electrics, and immediately started to solder and hook it up. Once finished, I checked the programming on the speed controller one last time (Which I had prior set, weeks ago). Next I got my trims and motor direction together, and all was well. The delayed startup in the MGM's settings seemed just the ticket to tame this beast. Turned it all off, and put the wheels on to go and do the famous MGM automatic setup run. When I connected the battery this time though, all I got was a single kick from the motor when it should have armed. Unfortunately, all I got was a flashing red light. ?WTF? So I disconnected it from the battery to try to let it reset itself. I hooked it up, turned on my controller, and then turned on the MGM and was waiting for the arm when smoke started shooting out of both ends fiercely. While I was reaching for the battery connectors to unplug it, the spewing smoke turned into a fireworks show inside the controller. I have never seen such a spectacular display of me losing $400 in my life. I never even got to run it once. Oh well, Mamba Monster Max anyone?

All I could do was laugh. And fix the building. and cleanup the waste paint that got on everything. Including me, it burns btw. Good luck with the mgm, they should be able to get you a new one, eventually. |

And the names lincpimp, not licpimp. I take offense to that btw. You just offended a guy who has a stupid nick-name and a building with no ack wall. How do you feel now? This is all sarcasm, btw:intello::wink::oh::tongue::mdr: |
What up Lic'mPimp...
Serious; there is a warrantee on MGM controllers, so it's not a complete waste of the 400 bucks.. |

Wait a minute I already said that one. Wonder what other ways people could butcher my screen name? pimpil mc? limppin'? gimppimp? pimpy mcpimp? pimple gimp? crippled master? It is 3am here and I need to duck out! |
Too afraid to sleep, i think you need to tell Kermit to back off for a night..
|
I may need to change my avatar, and have alot of "thought provoking" pictures at hand. However I am sure that this forum has some sort of "decentcy requirements" that i am barely meeting at this time anyway. I would hate to get the boot, as you guys are my only friends. Its hard to make friends when you look like me. And when you are british!

Why not dress like a female? Most of the clothes are really nice, soft and form fitting. I have to say that the "plus size" pants really make my butt and thighs look rather slim and attractive. I do need to post pics, maybe tomorrow when my hair is done.
|
it's something i'll never understand.. The only thing that excites me is opening a bra, but that's because you EXPECT something.. And lets say it's not a hairy chest i expect to see.
|
Yes I expect something too when I open a bra. Sometimes it is good, and other times you get socks, or some wadded up toilet paper. Usually the chic is so drunk she does not care, and you are too busy trying not to wake your parents up. So I guess it all evens out. I actully dressed up as my buddies girlfriend for Halloween this year, bra and all. I even wore a wig, but stuck to mans underwear, no thong for me. Just thought you might want to know that.
|
How old exactly was this buddy?
|
My friend is 27, same age as me. His girlfriend is 22, and very attractive, so needless to say I looked nothing like her. I am sure that one would be very "satisfied" if they opened her bra.
|
Thankfully, a more logical explanation.
What do personally you think of ant-eater costumes? |
Hmmm, anteater costumes...
Only if the nose resembled that famous part of anatomy, and was detachable for "private use only". |

Don't get carried away here, I'm affraid it's not detachable, and if it was, i can't think of pasionated acts that would gain preformance by the use of a stuffed nose.. (on the other hand, i am sure if my mind spents a little more thinking, i am sure i can...?)
|
Man, I could scare some children with that costume. I bet it is warm, and and has room in the head for a beer hat or other liquor dispensing items.
I would prefer an ardvark costume myslef:lol: |
I did the same thing with my brand new bk warrior 9920, I was programming it and when I hit full reverse smoke started coming out of the esc.
Is there a warranty on the esc, I heard they are located in Germany though...... |
This is about the biggest "WTF" thread I've seen in a long time lol
sometimes I read the name as licn'pimp.... |
LOL!
Daddy, tell me the story of the forum thread that never was...:lol::mdr::mdr::lol::rofl: |
Sorry for the inconvenience guys..

Wow...how did I miss this one?
|
I've had that happen a couple of times with MGM controllers. I fried one this past weekend, but I think that it was because of the Neu motor.
MGM has been good about warranty work, but it takes a while. It took two months to get the last one that I had to send in back. I have three or four MGM controllers, so at least I'm not out of the game and waiting. |

:grrrrrr:What is it about with RCM cronies and picking on the spellingly challenged??? I am dislexic remember??? :lol:If I forgot the "N" here you go. Take it with you. :lol:I need to think about who I am talking about. A 27 year old painter who convinced his friend to ditch his girlfriend and go out with him "while" he cross dressed on halloween. This same "guy" stays up till 3 am and dreams of what Serum does at 3 am in an ant-eater costum. And he makes fun of my spelling??? |
Spellingly?

Whats with all the fried mgm's? I have been using bk warriors and lehners for years and now I just ordered my first mgm 224.18 and nue 1515 2.5d and now all I'm hearing about are smoked mgm's with programing headaches, and long downtimes for warrenty repair. I hope my $ 400.00 bucks was well spent.
|
misspellingly challanged.... I think he even waited till i got out of bed, in my defence; i am in another timeframe, you know..
|
Generally speaking, the MGMs are like any other piece of electronic hardware. If it starts up on the first try and runs as it should, odds are that you won't have any trouble with it. I have two 22418s. The first fried on the first day that I had it, so I bought another to run while the first was on its trip around the world. I took around two months to get it back. The second that I bought hasn't given me any trouble. I have since gotten the first one back and it hasn't given me any trouble either. With the switching bec, I liberally swap among 4S, 5S and 6S lipo with my 1515 2.5d. I've also recently been running the Compros with the Align 600XL (1650kv) motor and I think I like it better than the Neu in terms of the way it runs. Heat issues are still undetermined, since I haven't had the time to really give it a run for an extended length of time.

Sorry to hear that you are dislexic, I actually transpose numners when I speak, but write them correctly, and I say green when I see yellow, or the other way around, not really sure. I actually hung out with my friends girlfriend while I was dressed up as her. It was funny, and I got to feel the difference between socks and the real thing! Not my first time but it is always good to keep your hand in, so to speak! |

You guys are too funny!!!!! |

Thank you BOR, that means alot, cause I try to add some humor whenever I can. Sometimes it is a witty comment, or a funny story, and sometimes I just fall over accidentally and people laugh. Whatever. |
