Project E-Revo

My 3.3 roller arrived today all set for a bl conversion. I have stripped the nitro gear from it, I will get a black wing for it and may try the new Traxxas mount. I'm still up in the air about which motor\esc I will use. I'll be making the jump to lipo for this bad boy too! 4s 8000 mah is the plan.

I've installed the rc-monster motor mount so I can keep the nitro tranny and lower CoG.

I will post updated pics as the project progresses. I have lunsford hinge pin's for it, and a sheet of 3mm carbon fiber I will make the electronics and battery mounts from.

I'm sure I'll have some questions for you guys and it won't be a fast build. I have to budget this one, so it will take a few months to get it all rolling.

squeeforever 11.13.2007 12:18 AM

Looks REALLY nice! Why not just dye that wing black? Only cost like $2.

drkros3 11.13.2007 12:49 AM

that does look nice.

if your on a budget i would recommend 9xl/mm it works great. i have it on my revo with a 4 cell and omg its nice. like i do see any reason to upgrade any time soon.

also where did you get the cf from. i want some so i can make a little box to protect my lipo in.

offroader 11.13.2007 12:54 AM

Can't wait to see the finished product....That new motor mount is sweet!

DickyT 11.13.2007 12:59 AM

Thanks guys. a 9xl would get me running fastest. I have a ubec and MM sitting in a box. I will wait until late Jan to make that decision though. I want to see if this fabled MMM comes to pass.

I got the CF from www.fullforcerc.com

I will be locking it in second.

drkros3 11.13.2007 01:35 AM

oh i see. just wondering how would you cut the cf??

DickyT 11.13.2007 01:44 AM

I cut some already with my dremel for a couple small pieces for my Rusty. After I mock up the mounts with carboard, i will trace the templates on the cf sheet with sharpie then go to my friends hose. He has a band saw and drill press. I'm going to counter sink the screws on the battery tray If I don't get lazy and get the tekno tray.

squeeforever 11.13.2007 02:12 AM

Personally, I'm gonna get lazy (and cheap) and get the Tekno. I may to something with CF though. Maybe a battery brace or something....

drkros3 11.13.2007 02:32 AM

is tekno selling just the battery trays yet?

gtxracer 11.13.2007 02:54 AM

Are you going to de-anodize the chassis?

squeeforever 11.13.2007 03:00 AM

Yes, they are.

drkros3 11.13.2007 04:02 AM

yah i just sow them when i went to the impakrc site

yes, I am. All of the blue aluminum around the truck will be stripped to natural finish.

BL_RV0 11.13.2007 09:39 AM

tell me how all of the de-anodization goes, ive been wanting to de-ano mine.

DickyT 11.13.2007 10:13 AM

I'll be starting tonight! I'm stopping by the grocery store on the way home for some easy off oven cleaner and steel wool. I'm expecting a bit of elbow grease to be needed.

BL_RV0 11.13.2007 10:18 AM

great! cant wait for results!

Just to be different, I actually prefer the blue to unfinished aluminum. Everyone and their mother has a blue chassis 3.3 though.

DickyT 11.14.2007 01:05 AM

I've been busy this evening and the truck is looking great. The anodizing all came off really easy but the fumes made my head all loopy.

Looks great, how did you strip the bumpers?

thanks. easy off oven cleaner:mdr:

drkros3 11.14.2007 01:12 AM

wow that does look good.

squeeforever 11.14.2007 01:19 AM

Dicky, looks really good! Maybe dye the wing and blue dust boots?

drkros3 11.14.2007 01:21 AM

hey jsut a fast question. say you wanted to paint the chassis a different color after you stripe it what kinda paint would you use.

DickyT 11.14.2007 01:33 AM

Thanks guys. Squee, I will get a new wing for it, I want one of the high downforce ones in black and the new traxxas one for photo's and the dust boots are shot. I'm thinking about dying the new ones when I replace them.

As far as painting, it will chip, but you would prep, primer and paint it like any other metal.

squeeforever 11.14.2007 01:42 AM

I would look into getting it anodized or powder coated.

rchotrodz 11.14.2007 03:23 AM

^ that would be the only way to go without it chipping real bad

BL_RV0 11.14.2007 10:47 AM

looks great! you should paint the springs and turnbuckles and pushrods.

squeeforever 11.14.2007 07:44 PM

Why would he paint the red Traxxas Tubes or the springs that match?

BL_RV0 11.14.2007 07:48 PM

cuz red sucks

DickyT 11.14.2007 08:27 PM

I like the red tubes. The shocks will be covered with black socks though.

DickyT 12.22.2007 03:41 AM

drkros3 12.22.2007 04:20 AM

I have no "planes" for it, but my plans are to wait until I have some more money. lol. This will be a slow project, I have alot of other stuff going on and RC has taken a back seat. It will get finished though :D even if I have to sell my Rusty.

I'm hoping to see that fabled MMM combo soon. If not then I'll get a 9xl and use my spare ubec and MM. lipo will be 4s 8000 mah.

Sorry it's a slow project guys, but I'm not made of money, so this gets work when I have some to spare ;) donations accepted, lol.

talk to aquwut, he is made of money.

gtxracer 12.22.2007 02:49 PM

Are you gonna get some black shock socks? I run them and like mine, really adds a nice touch to the color scheme.

Already have them. I may just use the blue shaft covers I ordered, or them and the socks for effect. I ordered the anodized GTR shocks, it would almost be a shame to cover them up.

drkros3 12.22.2007 05:48 PM

yah i got the gtr shocks and had the shock boots and did not use them cause the gtr shocks looks so nice.

and your going to love the gtr shocks. i think that was the upgrade i loved the most on my revo.
