can i purchase G3 CF without extension?

hi guys,

just wondering if any of you know whether i can purchase the G3 cf chassis without the extended rear top plate thing from mike, or is the extended part the only thing i can get in the chassis kit? i would rather run a monoblock, thats why im asking

thanks in advance :mdr:

The G3 only comes one way. With the extension...

The chassis kit is extended - no other way to get it. I think you emailed me the same question - I MAY be able to dig up a regular length Gorilla rear upper plate for you. The Gorilla Extension and monoblock aren't exactly the same length, but close enough to be compatible. :)

they work like a charm on a slipperential though. They UE extension is 1 or 2 mm longer than the ext. gmaxx.

jordan... 11.13.2007 07:35 PM

hey guys, thanks for the replys

that would be great if you could try and dig up a non extended cf rear top plate mike, reason is i just got a VBS rear skid and it would be a shame not to use it

as the UE and the Gmaxx extensions are only 'similar' would i be able to use the extended dogbones that come with the GMaxx kit with the UE extension?

thanks guys

If the UE kit is a couple mm longer, then I would say the normal extended rear dogbones will be fine- might just need a tiny spring/o-ring in the output cups to take up any slack. You say VBS skid, does that mean you have VBS bulks too?...

jordan... 11.13.2007 11:56 PM

VBS-T to be precise :mdr:

Man, Im suprized anyone would give away nearly a whole Gmaxx chassis- that is a great gesture. Thought- couldnt you use the rear upper plate (non extended one that bluonyx has) as a template, and make your own out of CF sheet? Might not be as perfect as an original part, but would suit the purpose....

nl12 11.15.2007 12:10 PM

I am after the same part if I find 2 I will let you know.

Jordan and nl12 I just found this on Ebay since both of you wanted a CF rear plate. Just happen to find your treasure, is there a finders fee? JK, LOL:rofl:

thanks alot bluonyx!

looks like he'll only ship to the US though  oh well, ill ask if he'd be willing to ship to Australia, fingers crossed

jordan... 11.24.2007 10:41 PM

if anyone in the US could bid on them for me, and then i'd paypal them the money for the parts and the shipping to australia when i get back from a business trip on the 2nd of December, that would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

jordan... 12.07.2007 02:40 AM

YES!!! :mdr: just won a non extended rear cf plate off ebay, now i can use the UE monoblock, when robin sorts himself out that is...

a hefty cost though, $28 for the upper front and rear cf Gmaxx plates, oh well...

Yeah, I noticed you kinda getting hung out over there at UE - couldn't read the email (gone) l, but still see leftovers. Whats up with that??

jordan... 12.07.2007 08:36 AM

i have no idea? i've sent two pm's since i started the thread which robin says he didn't recieve, and i sent an e-mail today to his actual e-mail address, all up been waiting for about three weeks just for a shipping quote :surprised:

but hey, if they're the only ones with the best parts, i have no other option but to wait...

Duster_360 12.07.2007 09:26 AM

I don't know what's going on over there -they don't appear to be paying attention, my order before the last one I just got was real screwed up. I tried raising the issue, but it was obvious it was not going to help, so I dropped it and ate the costs.

I hope you get your quote - sooner than later, Good luck!

neweuser 12.07.2007 12:29 PM

I wouldn't eat the cost. I would keep mailing him (in a manner that is acceptable) and Robin will take care of you, eventually.

jordan... 12.07.2007 09:00 PM

i did get a reply from robin, said he would forward my order to sam on monday, like last time..., however, im going away on tuesday so doesn't leave much time to sort things out, i guess ill have to wait another week

jordan

Duster_360 12.08.2007 01:20 PM

Been my experience once things get to Sam, they're handled quickly. I hope he can get you a timely answer.

Point of diminishing returns on chasing the missing piece in my order. Not worth worrying over - the time better spent working. I received enough to get the job done, just no spares, but shouldn't be needing them anyway. Ironically on my next order, the spare rear knucks had pb retainers in them so I do have spares now. Sometimes it all works out.....
