Cheapest places for batteries
What is the cheapest place to buy goob batteries online? like GP3300's or something.
also, can someone explain what they do mean by "matched"? and is it a big differense beetween matched and not matched cells? Thanks Max |
Check out Mike's online store.
Unmatched means the induviual cells that make up a pack have not been put on a cell matcher. To find out what each cell is capable of. So you dont know what you are getting they are okay for bashing, generally not recomended for racing. Matched means each cell has been put on a cell matcher to find out what each induvidual cell is capable off. They are good for bashing, and great for racing. Most people here if they spend the money for BL they get matched pacxks. I hope this helps. |
the helped alot! i ckecked out mike store but i dont really wanna make my own packs...i know how to do but i dont wanna mess anything up.
also, what kind of cells do i want? |
Glad i could help. If you dont want to build your own packs. Try looking at promatch batteries. That is what i personally use you can get 2 7cell matched packs for around $85.00 or 2 6 cell packs for a little less. Fusion batteries are good to but i think they are over priced.
As for what cells i would say nothing less than 3300's,. As for what brand gp's are good and alot of BL guys are using the ibc cells also. Sinice you live in sweden talk to dafni he would know whats avalible over there. Also try sending mike a pm for a small price i'm pretty sure he would build your packs for you. |
Mike can make you the packs as well!
Those IB's are the real thing at this moment.. |
Yes, I build packs on occasion for those in need! I can get several different voltage outputs of the IBC 3800 cells for a decent price, too. These are excellent cells, with nice voltage and low IR. Drop me an e-mail and we can work something out.
|
mike how much woulkd you sell a IB 3800 7 Cell E-Maxx Pair w/ deans for?
|
I would love to sell it for $1,000,000 and retire! :)
I will take a lot less, though! |
welll how much are they tho under 100? or way over
|
Way under!
|
oh okmost places sell em 4 114$ o yah mike i just got a stock e max 4 50$ i might be selling my pede n geting stiuff 4 the maxx :/
|
Those "goob" batteries are hard to find too.
LOL |
Actually, a piar of matched 7 cell packs would be right around $115. I misread the post and thought you were asking for a single 7 cell pack.
What is a "goob" battery? |
That is what he asked for in his first post. "The cheapest place to buy goob batteries." just funnin a litlle.
LOL |
Hi mike!!!
What kind of #'s are getting on the 3800's. Runtime is more important to me than voltage, as long as they are at least 1.16. |
I thought it was 1.18 @ 30A load..
|
oh, 115$...
now i just need a controller but they are expensive me thinks, LOL |
(don't tell your girl... ;) )
|
No, don't tell your parents :D
Quality has its price. |
Matched packs aren't cheap. It also depends on the voltage and runtime of the matched pack (low end = $50/pack, high end = $75/pack). Even the low end are good cells, but the high end have more voltage and more runtime.
|
How much do you take for the IBC 3800 packs? I need the good ones ofcourse.
|
How many cells, Captain? The best 6 cell matched pack (to be assembled) are around $70.
|
I think I would settle for 6 loose gp cells at promatchracing. They're 32.99 each and 1.17v @ 30 amps. You can also buy 6 IB 3800 cells for 43.19 or something like that with numbers 1.175v. If you wan't your packs assembled, they cost $5 more. I bought matched 7 cell gp packs from them a year. The packs are still in use.
|
I sell 6 loose cells, unmatched for $30 on this site(same 1.17 or better voltage). Similar price on the IBC 3800s for matched cells as well.
|
OK,
I don't know if you guys know about these but here's a link to pete's site where he sells Solderless Battery Tubes These packs are great! If a single cell goes bad, its easy to replace it. So, you could buy loose IB cells from mike and simply make a pack with NO SOLDER. I use these packs with GP 3700's and 2200's and beat nitros all day long :D As long as the IB's are the same diameter as the GP's, they'll fit fine. |
Mike, any comments about these tubes?
|
I too saw them a few months ago, the numbers look good, they have got an ultimate low resistance.. One comment from my side; they don't fit a gmaxx chassis.. And i don't know how they hold on a bumpy truck..
If they work well though, they would be the thing to get, lower resistance, easy to make your own packs and easy to service the packs if needed |
I've ran these tubes for two years now and they have worked well in my gmaxx, revo and my mbx5.
As far as the gmaxx chassis, they will fit, no problem. I ran two ten cell packs(took a little work to get the steering servo clearance and the velcro straps around) but you can fit 8 cells on each side with little to no problem. With the andersen/sermos connectors, you can easily connect multiple packs together in series. Here's pics of my gmaxx with the tubes: http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx21.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx22.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx23.jpg I know the velcro straps should go the other direction but I wanted to run 20 cells and didn't want to run with the extended chassis. Yup, thats a tmaxx transmission on that gmaxx. Automatic 2speed, gotta love it :D Cheers |
Go over to www.maxamps.com
They don't have a bad deal on batts. I not saying they better or worse. He will build for about the same as loose. I need to test mikes batts one day to. |
Yep, maxamps is where I got my loose GP2200's for the batt tubes. Though I'll give my business to Mike when I can.
I'll be in the market for some 6s and 4s Kokam Lipo's when they come out. hint hint... |
Mike has it going on in the hobby. I try to give Mike my bizz to. I just like to keep all options open. No offense mike. Mike has been getting a little money out me. I just wish i had found the site earlier on.
|
hey starscream what motor and motor mounting bracket is that??
|
I also use the SPTs (Solder-less Power Tubes) from MEC. They've got good customer service as well. I have both 6- and 8-cell SPTs with IB3600 cells that consistently out-perform my GP3300 packs.
I'd just like to make one comment about other businesses on this forum. I believe it's in poor taste to come on RC-Monster.com's forums and suggest that people shop elsewhere for products sold here. If you think there's a better deal elsewhere, PM Mike and (if he can't beat it) PM another member to tell them to shop there. I, too, believe that it is important to keep options open and shop around. I spread my business between my local hobby shop, which a friend owns, RC-Monster.com, Tower Hobbies, and other smaller assorted online retailers. However, I'm not going to post public messages on this retailer-hosted forum to shop elsewhere for a product he has in his catalog. It's basically a matter of respect. I think Mike showed great restraint coming to this thread and posting, without comment, that he had competitive pricing on products that people suggested shopping elsewhere for. I'll get off the soap box now. :) |
Batfish, You are absolutely correct I have done exactly what you are saying on a couple of occassions. It was not done intentioanlly to take business from Mike and RC-Monster. My apologies to RC-Monster team members. Sometimes I may call out a competitors site to identify a new (or new to me) product. I (and others most certainly) only mean to identify the object and see what experiences there are in here, related to it. Also posting it in here is smart because almost certainly Mike and the other RC-Monster members have seen or heard about it one way or another..
Mike and everyone here has been hugely helpful with discussing their experiences and sharing knowledge. Mike and Serum are helping me put together a BL Savage right now. Just saying Great Job RC-Monster guyz and Mike especially. Next !!! who wants the soap box next??? |
By the way Mike I would like to get you to put some 3800 packs together for me. I will pm you some more about them.
Just a heads up. I want to put together 2 packs for my Emaxx I am putting the HV-Maxx Novak system in it this weekend. So I am not sure what the best battery layout for 14 cells would be on a stock emaxx chassis. Also for the Savage I want to do 20 cells, and depending on what type of battery mounting arrangement I (or us) come up with, will determine the battery configurations. |
Also Guys I see a couple of different IB or IBC 3800's which are the better ones. Intellect has a 3800 that is listed as IB (for Intellect Battery)on some sites, and EPIC has a IB3800 listed as well. Are they the same cells?? just in a different named wrapper?? and is there an IBC cell as well??
|
IBC = Intellect Battery Cells. Same batteries. Thanks, Major and Batfish for the support, respect and kind words also.
|
I might be interested in some ibc 3800's, although im more concerned about run time than voltage, as long as I can hit the same speeds as my 2 year old 2400's im fine. I'm just looking for loose cells though, as I have to be pretty picky and neat to fit cells in the xxx-t.
|
mike what kind of runtime are you getting on the 3800's ?. I need to get atleast 2 sets of 6 cell packs, & 2 sets of 7 cell packs so i can run in the 10 min nitro mains. I get just over 9 min 30 sec on my 3300's. So i figure the 3800's should put me over the 10 min mark.
Also i would just like to say thats mike's customer service is second to no one. He is awsome Thank's mike. |
Oooh ooooh I wanna turn on the soap box too ;)
I agree with ya Batfish, I guess that had to be said. I can't say enough about the help and support that Mike has provided. So what do you think about the batt tubes Mike? Good, Bad, Indifferent? Would you be interested in carrying them? I know Pete personally. I can actually blame his brother for inflicting me with the brushless addiction. Now I can't stop :L: Major, the motor is a maxcim N32 brushless motor made in the good OL USA http://www.maxcim.com. Unfortunately the guy who produced these motors has discontinued thier production. He told me that he couldn't keep up with the lower cost motors (I'm assuming the feigao's n such) so he had to give it up. He is an engineer in NYC so this was a side business anyway. The motor plate is a stock emaxx plate mounted to a tmaxx transmission. Its not too hard to do with a drill and a dremel. I gave that project up for my E-Revo aka Evo. I've spoken to Mike about upgrading my system to even higher voltage and am going to get a Lehner 1940/14 and a bk3670. This new system is begging for Lipo's. I've got so much information, inspiration and help from this forum. I plan on givin Mike as much business as I can. Thanks Mike |
