Losi Lithium Charge Converter
 

I'm wondering if this would be a good supplement to my ICE charger. Not a whole lot of info on Losi's site. It would be nice to put my idle peak charger to work as opposed to babysitting 3-4 separate charge cycles after a day of racing.

The only bad thing I can think of is that this converter only allows you to perform the constant-current part of the charge, so you'd be missing the constant-voltage part. The CV stage can add up to between 5-10% of the charge depending on battery type (A123 vs lipo).

Why does it still need a charger to opperate? Does the charger still detect the peak or something, or is it simply a power source? I would like a way to charge more than 3s A123, but the only other chargers I own are a Twin Peak and a Piranha Digital Peak charger, so I couldn't charge them very fast anyway. Could you just use a power supply with the new Losi adapter, or does it not actually terminate the charge of the Lipo/ion when it is done?

I wonder if the losi unit has a fuse or some protection in case the power leads are disconnected before the battery is? I know I have done stupid in the past, the alligator clips seem a bit dangerous to me.

maybe the current only travels one way?.
