here the rest! :O)

Great looking truck you got there, and VERY light weight too. My only recommendation is to get a RCM heatsink on the motor, but other than that, awesome job!!
|
VERY nice truck! If you want to shed a few more ounces, get a Gorillamaxx single speed kit.
|
looks good dude.... love the body...
|
looks great man. That body looks great on there.
|
i did not know that they orion made 4 cell lipos like that.
just wondering how much where they. |
Boy this looks slick with that body!

what blue screws did you used?
Be carefull with using weaker scews in the gmaxx chassis. |

why does it say 4s orion lipo's. or does he just have 2x2cells. but those lipos only come 3200mah. so thats not that much run time. |
Orion makes 4800's in a silver case. I think they are 2s2p packs, because the one that I saw puff up yesterday looked like it had 4 cells in it. I didn't look that closely, I was trying to keep my distance from it.

thanks for all your comments! :O)
Jnev, heatsink + ship to canada comes to almost the same price as the motor... lol + it doesn't run too hot with my set-up... I also have an 8xl but doesn't sees much runtime. Squeeforever, I did run my custom made single speed for a while but since I have the smaller tires I like to be able to just change gears when I run my other regular maxx sized tires. I just realised I have to change the dual servos in my description, cause I put pack my shifting servo... drkros3, your right they dont make 4s, they are 2s1p but I right down 4s cause I have 2 in series, so it's 4s total. I also have some bigger packs from maxamps for more runtime. but for pictures you can't beat these orion...and yes there quite expensive, 100$ each Serum, I know these al. screwz are sh#@$t, probably going to take them out soon, looks good and saves about 40 total but isn't worth the assle of stripping them way to often + the blue in them is all different from one to another, really bad product! Glad you like the body, plain and simple as i'm not a good artist + I screeded my carbon fiber look paint job by putting to tick of a coat! :O( anyway's sorry for the long response but it's to show I appreciate the comments... This forum is one of my reference cause around here where I live people Run mostly Nitro, I know more about Brushless set-ups than the hobby shop guys! AND I don't know that much... |
You can loose some weight..
Take off 4 shocks. My lightweight maxx was 6.8 lbs, and that was including MT size tires and wing http://picasaweb.google.com/buikpijn...ightweightMaxx |
Serum, very nice truck!
That's 6.8lbs Without batteries I presume?? Mine is actually 6.4lbs without batts, with 4 shocks, no shifting servo and internals for 1st gears remove from tranny but that's with the very light komodos. Is that a basic or basic xl motor in there? Yeah about the 4 shocks I actually do run it like that when I race. How did you manage to run the stock sliders? that must be a really good slipper.... what king is that? looks custom to me? I'm also waiting for the new extended maxx body to come out, I can save around 50-80g there as my baja body is really heavy... |
no, that 6.8 is including 4S 4000 mAh maxamps.
|
holy mahonny, How did you do that? that's impressive... any tips for me where to save more weight... I really dont know where else I can cut lol

that's a gorillamaxx motor mount, not the current edition tough (they dont have those anymore on their site but you can still get them) I like the look and works pretty good for a LIGHT motor, if to heavy as with my 8xl it tends to spring to much... but can be fixed with a rear custom motor mount I guess.
I like that the weight distribution is really good with this mount BUT it's has a high center of gravity lol |
I used two stock sliders in front, and two CVD's in the rear.
Titanium pillowballs also shave off a good 20g grams. That XL motor is lighter too. I don't use 2 servo's and the gmaxx mount is heavier than the stock one. (and it's single speed) titanium turnbuckles, 4 shocks instead of 8, no wheeliebar, no bulkhead braces and a light stock body. I think that all puts it together for a lighter truck.. |
My chassis was probably the older version; the xbraces are lighter, skids where 17% lighter and all the carbon was 17% lighter too.
|
would the slipperential make it lighter than the single speed? and is there a way i could get a old gmaxx cf chassis and the v1 slipperential?
|
Serum, I see you know your stuff a lot... can't get anything past you, hehe. I do have al. pivot balls and al. turnbuckles, the wheeliebar is only on when I run on the street and not counted in my weight. I know the xl is 60g lighter but i'm happy with my 8l for the moment... that xl is sure more expensive... On your truck you mover the tranny forward, how did you acheive that? did you make custom dogbones? how was your weight distribution? mine is really close to 50/50 front and back, I only have about 100g more in the back.
|
No, it's simple done by flipping the transmission, since the singlespeed uses the same output shaft as the stock two speed gearbox you can simple turn it around. (you can do this too, it doesn't require other shafts)
You can shift the weight balance with batteries rather easy. If the pack is thin enough to slip below the servo horn you can go any way you like it. |

here are some pics with my regular maxx sized bash tires. For those who dont like the look of skinny tires. hehe
