17mm hex
hey guys just wondering if you guys know if these 17mm hex would fit. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPFE4&P=7
i think it would but just wanted to make sure before i order them. |
No, they won't fit. They are meant for buggies.
For the revo you need the maxximizers (mike has them) they are available in plastic and in aluminum. I would personally prefer the aluminum if you are planning on bashing. or you could set with the ofna's, but these are known to be sloppy and weak. |
i was really looking for some in red. like the ones i showed above. do you know any that would be in red.
im trying to make all the little stuff on the truck red and the major stuff black lol. |

This is another option for 17mm revo hex adapters. They work well. I have usd them for a long time with no issues. I know... they arent red. I figured I'd point them out anyway. |
that are the sloppy ofna's i've been telling you about..
 |
hmmm... Sloppy and weak. Not sure what you mean by sloppy. And I havent been able to break one and I have broken just about everthing in the drive line of my revo.
I'm actually using 23mm on the revo now just because my truggy (cen) uses 23mm hex and then I can swap wheels back and forth. If you really want red, Integy makes a red 23mm hex for the revo. You would just have to go to to 23mm wheels instead of 17. Not sure if the Intgey are any good or not, but they are red. http://www.integy.com/cgi-bin/webc.c...02107223832.fb |
they are only attached to the shaft with a through pin, and the hole for the shaft in the ofna hub is larger than the actual diameter of the wheelshaft. That's what makes them sloppy.
|
i have 23mm right now but i like to use prolines permount wheels. and they only use 17mm hex. unless some one knows where i can get 23mm premount tires by proline.
if i cant find a 17mm hex in red i might just go with the integy 23mm and just start learning how to glue tires better lol. |
With really thin Proline CA glue tire glueing is as easy as breathing..
Just lift the tire slightly from the bead and poor in a helathy dab of CA glue and let the good times roll.. It should suck right into every small part between the tire and the rim. |
every time i glue tires it never stays on the rim. it might be cause i always use thick ca glue lol. maybe i well try the proline stuff when i get a new set of tires.
|
yeah its probably the thick glue holding you back. I use thin, and thats what proline recomends. but if your running 5+ cell you may throw the tires off the wheels anyways. Then you have to go beadlock.
|
Another thing I've seen with the OFNA mounts is that the nuts do not tighten completely down on the threads. This turned out to be a problem with Pro-line wheels. There was a very slight gap because the wheel was not completely tightened down to the hex creating wobble. This wasn't an issue with other wheels that had thicker material. Maybe I'll post pics later.
I haven't tried these yet so I can't say anything about their durability but Bluegroove makes a bling 17mm adapter as well. |
Love your avatar Riceman!

oh I forgot to mention I use the ofna adaptors. I have only ran on them for about 40minutes, but I didnt have any problems and mine dont seem to have any slop.

adaptor id .237 shaft od .235
which 17mm adaptors do you guys suggest? What did yours measure serum? |
Another option if you want red.
http://www.impaktrc.com/images/m2c10..._maxx_revo.jpg From what I've heard these actually fit better than the Maximizer aluminum ones. I haven't run these myself but I believe these are the adapters that Tekno is running on their prototype Revo. |
I thought revos use a 5mm axle, it says those are for a 6mm
I dont have any calipers, sry im just going by feel. |
Revo, Tmaxx and MGT = 6mm axles
|
Those look alright. FWIW, the integy 23mm hexes are troublesome- when the wheel nut is fully tightened it can cause the hex to rub/bind against the axle bearing, which obviously isnt a good thing.

hey i have heard that the integy 23mm hexs are bad. can any one tell me why they are bad. cause they are the only red ones i found in 23mm and i cant use 17mm hexs any more cause i have 2 sets of tires in 23mm.
thanks! |
hahaha nvm i guess i should of read a few post above lol. my bad.
