Spring RCM Event?

Next August seems such a long way off!

Just wondering if people would be up for a spring event or even just try to organise a monthly get together at barnstormers for a brushless race or two...

We seem to be so non ROAR compliant! :rules: :whip:

Post your interest here and maybe we could get something organised...

gtxracer 12.13.2007 02:13 PM

Yes, and we're having it in Idaho! :yipi:

Maybe we should have an east and west grouping...

DrKnow65 12.13.2007 03:02 PM

Some place within 8 hours of Colorado would be cool :)

Roar can stuff it! I'll have my lipo's my mamba max and what ever else I can afford to stuff into my rigs.

Where in Idaho?

Electric Dave 12.13.2007 05:48 PM

Monthy is an EXCELLENT idea...I'd be there...only about 2 hrs from where I live in CT...

If monthly is too much (which it likely is given how insane the Barn's schedule is) a 3 race series spring, summer, fall, sounds like a great compromise.

Lets see if Mike is into that!

I think its a great idea, I'd definitely go. It was alot of fun last time....

Bye:mdr:

gtxracer 12.13.2007 07:02 PM

Probably Boise Idaho or the surrounding area for people in the west.

DrKnow65 12.13.2007 08:52 PM

Well Boise is only ten hours and fourty five minutes from me :) I'm sure I could make it there and back for a day of racing :D Now how to warp time so the family won't realize I'm gone....

Only 10 hours hey... hahaha.. cr*p if I drive that long I'd be sleeping in a ditch..

Hickoryhead 12.13.2007 10:06 PM

Why Boise??? Thats 10 hours for me to. Maybe Salt Lake City? Thats in the middle of us all. If not there how about Vegas?

ib4200 12.13.2007 10:12 PM

how bout jersey? thats close for you guys right?

Finnster 12.13.2007 10:18 PM

The Barn is just upstate NY (Orange Co, 10 min from Woodbury commons if you've been there)

I'd def like to go. I'm sure if there were enough people often enough you could do a reg class there.

haha, that's the funny thing about living in the east vs the west. Nothing is close. The next biggest town to Denver was SLC, maybe Albuquerque, NM? (unless you count Cheyenne  ) Here half the nations population living with a few hrs of ea other

gtxracer 12.13.2007 10:29 PM

If SLC is closer, that might work. It's a 4 hr drive for me. Not too bad.

_paralyzed_ 12.13.2007 11:11 PM

somewhere within wheelchair distance of minnesota. and an elevator on the drivers stand. thanks.

ren 12.14.2007 01:36 AM

SLC? thats 1.5 hrs for me. I would definitely be there.

Dude, I am sure that we could get you on the drivers stand somehow. Hell, I'll make ramps!

Plus one for Vegas, I love going there. Legalized prostitution and rc racing, what could be better (free money?)

Where are you at Ren?

nl12 12.14.2007 08:34 AM

Vegas is one of the cheapest places to fly to, I would like to see an event in the south, NY is just too far for me to go

I did 12 hours each way to the last RCM Bash. Id do it again in the spring. It was a blast.

Arct1k 12.14.2007 10:08 AM

& jeff if you need somewhere to stay - happy to host you - I'm about an hour south...

PS watching you LS10 on ebay - Is the motor mount adjustable for different pinions?

cheers

DrKnow65 12.14.2007 10:57 AM

Salt lake city is only 6 hours for me and I could do that. I would love to do an RCM bash!

Edit: Vegas is about the same distance and I've got family there to stay with....

I'm in Logan UT, about 30min to the idaho border. We actually have a decent outdoor track here (5 min away from me).

Arct1k 12.21.2007 11:27 AM

Bump it up? Aany more interest?

Finnster 03.18.2009 02:29 PM

So what's the deal with this? Its starting to get warm finally, and it won't be too long before the barn opens. Their website seems down, so IDK their sched. We have to work something out.

My parents in law actually live in Chester, so depending on the time of year, maybe we could even do a BBQ or something at their house. Very big MAYBE, as its not my house and I haven't asked, but I'm can't imagine they would mind a few guys hanging out on the deck grilling and drinking beer. 2 acre lot to run some RCs on too.....

E-Revonut 03.18.2009 02:44 PM

I'm def going to the barn at least twice this year! I just need a couple weeks notice and I'll be there!

Electric Dave 03.18.2009 02:55 PM

I'm in for a Spring RCM race...

BrianG 03.18.2009 03:26 PM

I think it should be somewhere located a little more centrally in the US... what a coincidence; Iowa is right in the middle!

I could go for that...

E-Revonut 03.18.2009 03:57 PM

People should be getting together all over at least once a year. Pick a track that a couple of you guys can agree to go to and race! However Barnstormer's is Mike's hometrack so thats where a group of us choose to go. It's over a 3 hour drive for me but I did it once and I'm looking forward to doing it again! There should be several un-official RCM bash's all over the country though.

BrianG 03.18.2009 04:00 PM

Unfortunately, the only track I know of near me is at the LHS and it is small for 1/10 scale generally even though they run 1/8 scale on it. I know there are more tracks in other cities is IA, just don't know where or how big.

Ideally, someone should have a nice big backyard capable of housing a track. And then a picknick table and some beers to round out the day. I tend to like the more informal "jsut playing around" type of racing.

And no, I'm not volunteering my yard as it is about as big as the bed of a pickup!

bruce750i 03.18.2009 06:28 PM

^^+1 for the central bash at BrianG's^^ J/K I am six hours south from BrianG's with KC in the middle of us. We need a central USA local also.

BrianG 03.18.2009 06:57 PM

Maybe those east-coasters can have their bash and we midwesterners can have ours. We've got quite a few members in this general region, all we need is a date and a location.

Finnster 03.18.2009 08:24 PM

You guys might as well. IDK just how much of an official bash we can get as the Barn's sched is usually pretty booked, esp in the spring as everybody is excited to get back to racing. What we can do is just pick a date where there isn't a huge special event and all just come and have our own class. Really depends on how many can come.

beer def needs to be involved somewhere..

Finnster 05.08.2009 11:17 PM

Anyone have any idea what is going on at the Barn? They have a new (and less detailed) website up, but nothing on the sched. They do say they've expanded the track again tho.

I'm going to be in town visiting family nearly every wkend for the next mo or so, and I'd like to get over there hopefully once at least. We are visiting people coming in from out of town, so I can't spend all my time up there, but hopefully one of those sundays I can go out messing.

Finnster 05.10.2009 11:38 PM

Expanded track at the Barn

Was up visiting family for mothers day and stopped by to check out the track. No racing on Sun, but the new track is even bigger and more awesome. Looks like a kickass track to run on. I'm dying to take a run on it.

Be sure to zoom in to 100% to see all the details.

bigboi146 05.10.2009 11:40 PM

:surprised:I wanna go so bad!:surprised:

jhautz 05.10.2009 11:50 PM

Thats a crazy long straight on the front. Looks like a fun layout and the track is quite a bit bigger from what I remember from 2 years ago.

E-Revonut 05.10.2009 11:58 PM

track looks awesome!
