I am going to go brushless with it and wanted some input on an ESC

A. Mamba 25
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba.html

B. Mini Tazer
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=DYN4930

C. Quark 33 or 22 amp
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=ea_Quark33Car
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=eb_Quark22Car

I am thinking of using this motor
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=dg_Align
or this one
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=dz_permax400

I plan on using a 2 or 3 cell lipo

What do you guys think? Am I on the right track.

Stormer hobbies are selling the chaos right now for 99 bucks! I might buy one just to play with as it is!

And I did just buy one! Man I need to stop buying RCs!

Good luck with your conversion and post up some pics!

Who knows? I think that they are trying to clear them out, stormer often has deals like this when products are being discontinued.

VWT4 12.29.2007 12:27 PM

If found it in ebay for $78,87.

It has a wide alu chassis, very nice for electric conversion. :intello:

Do you know what pitch is the spur gear? 32p or MOD1?

Team X 12.29.2007 12:46 PM

This is the cheapest I have found it

I tryed to e-mail sporkwerks about the spur gear pitch, but they have not gotten back to me.
What are you going to use for a motor mount?

I think the Mini Quake's motor mount will work.

Team X 12.30.2007 10:24 PM

Just orderd this motor:
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=dg_Align
I will try it with my Mamba 25 frist, and then decide what ESC I want.

I have about 40 right now. Must have about 15 4wd monster trucks/truggies at the monent. A couple of boats, some 2wd stadium truks, 1/8 buggies, on road larger scale, a few minis, and a selection of tamiya vehicles!

That is a good motor, I used it with a quark 33 and it worked very well. It was in a tamiya 10th scale fwd vehicle. It was a great setup, but it was a bit heavy and the motor ran too warm for my liking. I am sure that it will work well for your application.

The pitch may be 48 pitch, or possibly metric 48p, tamiya uses those on the on road vehicles.

Team X 12.31.2007 03:45 PM

Thanks for the info on the motor.

WOW!! 40 RC's thats alot

tashpop 12.31.2007 05:27 PM

just fyi, i was reading a bit on rcu about these and people are stripping the diffs with the stock .05 motor. you're probably going to see some issues with brushless power. there is a question whether on not the irc gears will fit. they have a metal gear upgrade.

Team X 12.31.2007 05:45 PM

Ya, I read that about the diffs on RCU. Thanks for the heads up thou
I hope someone will try the IRC gears. if it works that will be a great way to upgrade

VWT4 01.10.2008 01:43 PM

I measured the spur: it's 32 pitch. :yipi:

Team X 01.10.2008 04:23 PM

Ha, That’s funny, I also measured the spur last night and it is indeed 32 pitch.
How is your conversion coming?

Team X 01.15.2008 02:40 PM

Well here it is my first nitro conversion; I just finished it last night
Mamba 25 ESC
Algin 430 Motor
Stock Receiver & steering servo
Elite 1500mah 7 cell battery
15t 32 pitch pinion gear with stock spur gear
Not my best work but it’s ok
We will see how long the diffs last

VWT4 01.15.2008 03:01 PM

Very nice conversion !

I am working in my own Chaos conversion and trying to leave the mechanical brake.

Do you thing the motor and motor mount will fit leaving the brake servo?

Team X 01.15.2008 03:07 PM

The brake servo would not fit on mine, (I wanted to keep the mech brake and use a plane ESC)
What motor are you useing?

VWT4 01.15.2008 06:15 PM

I'm using a YPIN 5100KV :

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-KV-5100-Inne...sid=p1638.m118

http://www.tupianku.com/bin/655/bres/380S1.jpg

It is a 380S class with 28mm diameter and 37mm long with 1/8 shaft son you can use standar 32p pinions.

I have a 3900 kv model just like than in my tamiya m03 chassis. i use a quark 33 with it and it works great!

Team X 01.15.2008 11:03 PM

Well, one battery pack and my rear diff is toast!!

MTBikerTim 01.15.2008 11:09 PM

You have to love brushless power. I have read the diffs in those are very weak. Anyone come up with a fix for that yet? I want one of these I think http://www.cenracing.com/censports/me16mt.html

lincpimp 01.15.2008 11:40 PM

Anyone want to buy a brand new chaos? Dunni why I bought one, just had to have it at the time! Still in the box, just like new.

VWT4 02.09.2008 01:31 PM

My Chaos brushless conversion: E-Chaos :intello:

Waypoint 25A ESC
380S 4500kv motor
Stock servo and disk brakes
MQ motor mount
Hyperion 1800ma 3S battery

I think the stock diffs won't last too much.

nitrorube 02.09.2008 05:39 PM

yeah they are going to stop making them,i had one no big deal at all, mini inferno blows it away in handling and speed,i also disliked the motor, pretty weak and overall not very fast, thats why they are getting rid of them,it kind of reminds me of the older trinity spyder mini, another piece of sh:lol:just my opinion, hope no one gets upset with me i just call them as i play with them
