I possede a monster of origin and I want to put a brushless with controller to have a good speed, the problem C which I what I do not know needs and I would wish to buy on rc-monster, but I wanted its to see for conbien I would have some of order from France

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 06:36 PM

even though its not perfect english i think we all can basically understand most of it so dont feel bad!

for a 325 budget i would go with an 8xl feigao motor
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...WAND_XL&cat=20

and then a quark 125B
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...RK_125A&cat=21

that will make your budget only 35 dollars more and it will be a very nice setup.

phildogg 01.04.2008 06:42 PM

why the quark? I'd go with the mamba max esc and save alot..

So will the newer MM's handle 4S with a Cap and fan added? I thought they wouldn't.

ilpufxit 01.04.2008 06:46 PM

Quark is better

I just finished trying a MM and then a Quark 80b on the same 8xl motor at 4s. The Quark is WAY smoother! Not even close.

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 06:50 PM

the newer mm escs cannot handle the voltages as better as the old ones (so ive heard) im not exactly sure what hes running as far as batteries go but since its an emaxx im guessing 4-5s lipos. or 12-16 cell nimh.

i was thinking right now about editing my post and putting in an 80b instead but again. im not sure how that would handle the higher voltages in a big truck.

phildogg 01.04.2008 07:10 PM

I'm pretty sure they handle 4s fine its the 14NiMH cells they won't take.

i've heard that as long as ur running a UBEC u'll be fine with the mambamax esc but i'm not 100% sure.

The MM and the UBEC will do 4s, or 14 cells just fine:mdr:

bluonyx 01.04.2008 08:03 PM

I've had my MM's for over a year now and they run 4S w/UBEC just fine. I wanna get more but if the new ones can't run 4S w/UBEC anymore, I'll just wait for the MMM. (Man, that's a lota M's)

I'm afraid of the MGM because it seems everyone is frying them, or is that just because of 5S and everyone pushes them? I only bash so 4S is the max for me.

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 09:05 PM

everyones frying mgms?

i see more fried bks than mgms.

i think the mgms are very nice (my 16018 is awsome)

lincpimp 01.04.2008 09:35 PM

Seems like luck of the draw with esc purchases. I have 7 MM and 5 quarks and all of them have worked fine. I did nuke a MM but that was on 5s and a rock got stuck in the spur and stopped the motor dead at around 30 mph.

To me the new quark plasma looks to be the best bet. It combines the great quark smoothness and a decent looking design for heatsinking. If it performs as well as the 125b and stays cool we may have a winner. Especially if it can handle 6s and not cook itself!

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 09:50 PM

is the price going to be alright on the plasma?

lincpimp 01.04.2008 09:55 PM

Is the price alright on the 125b? I have a feeling that they will use the plasma to compete with the MMM esc?! Hopefully they can get the price down to 250 or less. I always thought that the quark escs were too expensive, but they do run a motor very well, any motor. Hopefully this new design will stay cool!

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 10:05 PM

ya the quarks could be better (the reason they made the plasma)
if it can actually run 6s then its going to be a great one.

lincpimp 01.04.2008 10:56 PM

If it can handle 6s well, I may have a use for it. Think new emaxx with a kb45 8xl on 6s 5000mah lipo! With a 2 speed geared for 70 wide open! We will see how strong that new emaxx tranny really is!

t-maxxracer32 01.04.2008 11:17 PM

so when you gear it for 70mph that means it will have worse acceleration than lets say 40mph?

I have a feeling that the combo of a 2 speed tranny and the insane torque of the KB45xl should make up for the gearing. I have a feigao 15l on 5s lipo in an emaxx that is geared for 40 and it will pull the front wheels till 30mph. These vehicles are so light that even mediocre power is too much.

suicideneil 01.05.2008 10:01 AM

Funny you should say that, someone on the traxxas forum mentioned that in he old days they all ran S cans, and even that was pretty fast- now we all run XL motors!

Anyway, I think the best combo available now would be the feigao/wanderer 8XL & a MM with ubec- that should easily come in under $300.

That was Jamie from Strarluckrc.com. My first BL E-maxx was a 9L and a bk9918 esc. worked ok but ran alittle hot. Was fast though.I guess If I knew then what I know now I shouldve geared down alittle. lol
