what tires are you running? they look huge and stable at higher speeds. how fast is it going also?

themadbaja 01.06.2008 09:16 PM

I am running these

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHLK5&P=7

I think its going around 55

sikeston34m 01.07.2008 12:38 AM

Can I drive it?

That does look like a torque monster. I liked how you were lifting the wheels and rocking it while going down the road.

Big Tires. Aren't they alot heavier than the stock wheels?

jnev 01.07.2008 02:29 AM

That thing rips!! I'd love to get my hands on one of these. Do you know if the Velineon ESC is waterproof like the EVX-2?

t-maxxracer32 01.07.2008 02:34 AM

im going to say it is not because i am reading all the specs about it on tower and it doesnt say anything about it being waterproof.

i am sure that would be one of the first things mentioned.

that truck is insane though.

do the bigger tires help with getting higher speeds? (i think the bigger tires means higher resolutions or some BS like that)

Patrick 01.07.2008 03:00 AM

Bigger tires are like geared up. Since the tire circumference is bigger the car will travel further from the same number of wheel rpm. Gearing up is better though, because big heavy wheels take more power to turn.

themadbaja 01.07.2008 09:51 AM

The ESC are Waterproof now.. I stuffed them full of Dielectric Grease.

Yes those wheels are little heaver but not much.

last night I ran 56(Jator Gear) 22t Pinion. and it did 64mph Verified .. was in my buddy F-150 and I drove the emaxx down a long road. The wheel about blew off the rims I could on get it to 64mph for like 1-3 seconds very hard to control!

They do appear to be waterproof. I don't know if I would submerge it for any length of time, but if you look closely you can see that it does have a small rubber seal around the edge of the bottom case. It also has a similar seal around the heatsink.

themadbaja 01.07.2008 08:30 PM

I took mine apart and filled it dielectric grease so its good for some mudd slinging

BlackedOutREVO 01.07.2008 09:12 PM

DANG! That thing has some power! I do have to admit, its a nice set up, it rips, I never thought it would be that powerful...

themadbaja 01.07.2008 09:50 PM

thanks.. I am pretty happy with it.. 3cell lipo make a big different

BlackedOutREVO 01.07.2008 09:54 PM

Yeah, im sure it did

themadbaja 01.07.2008 10:02 PM

but it still plenty fun with 2cell alot easier to control thats forsure

TRAXROB 01.08.2008 02:28 AM

Thats it I can't take it anymore. Im buying the twin VXL's. When my wife finds out I'm telling her its madbaja's fault.

:tongue::lol:

Yeah, for 300 bucks, its one heck of a fast/torque monster

How power hungry is it? What kind of run time do you get? And whats the heat on the speedo, and motors?

Serum 01.08.2008 03:04 AM

that's not 55 mph? i guess 40-45 mph tops.

Patrick 01.08.2008 03:15 AM

Yeah, it wouldn't have gotten that close to 55mph in than vid.

He can't be far off, unless the motor kv is way off spec, or the lipo voltage is really sagging under load. Check out the speed calc:

Differential Ratio: 2.8461538461538462
Transmission Ratio: 1.83
Spur Tooth Count: 65
Pinion Tooth Count: 22
Total Voltage: 11.1
Motor KV: 3500
Tire Diameter (inches): 7
Total Motor Speed: 38850 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 52.57 MPH

You have to factor wind resistance, but I did not account for tire ballooning, so he is most likely near 50 if not more. I find brian's speed calc to be quite accurate and that the tire expansion usually takes care of wind resistance, at least up to 70mph or so (I just leave the ballooninng section black). I always gear according to the speed calc and then check with my radar gun. Never more than 2-3mph off. My tamiya was actually almost dead on, but it has foam tires and a slippery body.

Serum 01.08.2008 03:42 AM

52 mph under ideal circumstances.

I i am not that far off with 40-45 mph linc.

BP-Revo 01.08.2008 03:52 AM

I was guessing about 40-45 myself...but the truck seemed to have quite a bit in the torque department...lifted those front wheels quite well...

Even my G2R with a 1940/7 on 4S and low gearing can't even pick the front tires up that fast. It more or less has to "pull them up." On the other hand, the COG and wheelbase is both lower and longer, respectively, than a new E...but even so the torque is impressive.

What I'm waiting for is someone to run two KB45's lol...

themadbaja 01.08.2008 07:22 AM

In the Video I was only going 1/4- 1/2 throttle.. I dont like to roll over on asphalt.
but With the 56/22 gears Its does 64 Verified very very hard to control

Serum 01.08.2008 07:25 AM

lets get a movie of that 64mph mt, that would be interesting..

lincpimp 01.08.2008 10:59 AM

Ok, I thought that you were using a 65t sput, not a 56!!!

Changed up the speed calc and here it is:

Differential Ratio: 2.8461538461538462
Transmission Ratio: 1.83
Spur Tooth Count: 56
Pinion Tooth Count: 22
Total Voltage: 11.1
Motor KV: 3500
Tire Diameter (inches): 7
Total Motor Speed: 38850 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 61.02 MPH

I did not use a value for tire expansion, so you must have some to raise the top speed a few mph. I am quite impressesd, what are you using to determine speed, a chase vehicle or radar? I have used both, but find it difficult for the chase vehicle to keep up! I bought a bushnell radar gun and it is much easier to use.

themadbaja 01.08.2008 11:24 AM

What I did was My friend drove me in his ford edge and I drove the Emaxx he had to go about 63mph to keep up with the emaxx. I could only do 64mph for a short time very hard to control I need to adjust the shocks

:lol::diablo: Now that would be crazy!

The twin V's look good, 64 MPH is crazy, We do need a vid:mdr:

themadbaja 01.08.2008 07:23 PM

I am going to get a video this weekend going to take 3 people 1 to drive the car me to drive the emaxx and my wife to do the video!

BlackedOutREVO 01.08.2008 07:28 PM

Nice!!

tashpop 01.08.2008 09:07 PM

i used to have some of the 7.7 fireballs tires. i used them on my t maxx. it made me roll too easy, but wheelies where easier to pull off i think just from them being too big for the truck.

Me? I have 3 of them!

TRAXROB 01.09.2008 10:37 PM

So I couldn't stand it anymore and I bought two Velinion systems and I am installing them tonight. :yipi:

TRAXROB 01.10.2008 12:45 AM

All done. Installed. I love them. Thanks themadbaja for posting that video. This thing is a monster and I have it on 2 - 5000 MAH 2s lipo's. I can't wait to get it on some 3s lipos.

themadbaja 01.10.2008 10:02 AM

traxrob

let me know if you need some advice on lipos for it Ive tried about 10 different ones and found the best ones for the job

with 3s its insane fast!

TRAXROB 01.10.2008 11:04 AM

Currently I'm running two 2s 5000 MAH racers edge lipos. What 3s's do you suggest?

Pliska 01.10.2008 04:24 PM

nice truck

But too expensive IMO, nothing to get all excited over.

TRAXROB 01.10.2008 05:27 PM

Too expensive as compared to what?

C-5Quad 01.11.2008 06:00 PM

Umm

what pinion are you using with 3s and what are your temps like?
the mail man droped off one vxl. I gotta wait untill mon for the other one:surprised: damn ups and their delays...they also have a bad habit of giving my stuff away to the wrong people..I also got the fans just to be safe.

tashpop 01.21.2008 08:03 PM

looks like a blast. has anybody that done this had a strong single bl maxx to compair? id love to compair my truck, although i know i'm carrying much more weight with my flm stuff, and its nearly impossible to compair using video. vid does make the front look light though.

adrenaline 02.17.2008 10:25 PM

We just did a Single E-Maxx 3905 using a Feigao 8L, MMAx and dual 3S-8000 batteries. It runs 37mph and runs for 45-55 mins. My customer was looking for runtime instead of speed. Temps run in the 140s for both ESC and Motor after 15-20 mins running.
