extra long gmaxx

I have the gmaxx chassis. I have used the extension in the rear. I want to know if any one has tried to extended the front an inch as well as the rear. I am in the process of making the skid and top plate for servos.

RC-Monster Mike 07.28.2005 08:39 PM

Never tried it. The extended g-maxx is a nice length, allowing great handling without having a negative effect on the turning. I would be curious to know how it turns out, though!

coolhandcountry 07.28.2005 09:02 PM

I am to mike. I was just wondering if someone else may have did it. I have to let you know.

RC-Monster Mike 07.28.2005 09:08 PM

It would be easy enough to do.

I have assembled the front part. I just need to fix my rear and shocks so can take it out.

RC-Monster Mike 07.31.2005 09:53 AM

Well....How does it work?

coolhandcountry 07.31.2005 02:38 PM

I don't know yet mike. It still looks like the pic. I have not fixed my rear. Did fix shocks though. There is no gears in the rear end. I tore the teeth off the pinion shaft. Need to get them 7.5 ordered. I get it back together.

Mike_D 07.31.2005 03:14 PM

Hey cool did you get your pro3 yet, and if so whats your opinion so far?

coolhandcountry 07.31.2005 03:34 PM

Haven't got it yet mike d. Expect it this week. I have to get my pinion gear so i can get the truck back going. I let you know. If it survives me it is doing good. I seem to be hard on my truck.

Jason C 07.31.2005 06:16 PM

Hey Country were did you get that alum tranny?

coolhandcountry 07.31.2005 07:53 PM

Jason c I sent pm. I don't want to advertise other sites on mikes. I did it once and realized what i did after. so i sent pm.

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 06:18 PM

Hey Mike or any one else that may know. On the front a arms of the integy pro 3 suspension. I want to know what you supposed to use for setting up the top a arms where they mount to bulk heads. I have the group of little white washers. Is that what i am suppose to use.

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 06:37 PM

On the integy pro 3 suspension. My rd logic cvd seem to short. If i take the knuckle in the turn buckle seem to long. Any suggestions.

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 06:56 PM

Yes, the white spacers are for the uper arms. I use the stock black clips(easier) on mine, though. Also, the RDLogics cvds will work, but you have to turn the pillow balls in as far as you can(without binding/limiting steering/suspension movement). You will have to mess with the turnbuckle length once you get it all set up.

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 07:19 PM

Thanks mike. On the turn buckles. Did you use the stock or integy ones? The integy seems to long.

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 07:29 PM

I used the stock turnbuckles(stronger).

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 07:34 PM

that will help. Are the integy aluminum. I notice that they was larger in diameter. I figured they was stronger. Thanks again mike.

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 07:36 PM

Yes, The Integy links are aluminum. The stock steel is much stronger(though also heavier).

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 08:55 PM

Which way does the arms supposed to go for the front upper? I see that they are different. I wish they had some sort of instructions.

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 09:12 PM

The front upper arms sweep towards the rear(steering knuckles lean towards the rear).

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 09:19 PM

Okay.
The rpm was easieer to put on. Simple design. lol
I have put one on right one on wrong.

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 09:20 PM

Does it matter on the rear?

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 09:57 PM

The rear upper arms are placed towards the front of the bulkheads, with the flat part facing the rear.

coolhandcountry 08.01.2005 09:59 PM

Integy would make life simple with a little instructions. Thanks alot mike. You made the job easier. Less putting and taking apart.

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 10:02 PM

Yeah, I agree the suspension would be much easier if it had instructions. My pleasure to help you out. That is the benefit of these forums!

coolhandcountry 08.05.2005 07:12 PM

I not totally sure how to set the suspension up mike. I have it set up but not sure if it is correct. It goes straight and turns right and left when you turn right and left. It handle good so far. I going to try some different setups and see what happens.

Re~Mix 08.06.2005 12:41 AM

Reverse the steering servo then to correct that steering problem.

RC-Monster Mike 08.06.2005 01:03 AM

I set the shocks on the furthest out position on the lower arms. Then, I set the upper shock mounts as far in as possible, at a level that allows maximum downtravel while still allowing the skids to bottom out before the shock (if the shock bottoms out before the sklids touch the ground, this will bend shock shafts and put a lot of stress on the bulks/towers etc.).

coolhandcountry 08.06.2005 09:23 PM

I have it out all the way on bottom. Have slid it over one hole on top and down some. I still running the fastlane towers. The skids hit the ground so i good with that. I not sure on the rear though. It has so many hole and stuff on suspension. Need to get the toe set up and stuff. I like it so far. Can tell a big difference. It will still wheelie. Just have to have real good traction area. Going to put test run on tomorrow. If I break something. Can you get me some replacement parts. :lol

Hey mike. The suspension was doing pretty good. Until a holly tree jumped in front of me. I don't think my gmaxx supposed to look like this now. I have another question. On the lower arms of the integy. There holes seem to be in farther than most. Does some one make an adapter or something for this.

RC-Monster Mike 08.07.2005 10:28 PM

OUCH! You must have been moving out pretty good! You can get the individula replacement parts that you need. Perhaps you should steer clear of trees in the future!
On the suspension, I am not clear what you are asking. The holes on the lower arm? Further in in what way?

rchippie 08.07.2005 10:59 PM

Dude i feel sad just looking at your truck

RC-Monster Mike 08.07.2005 11:12 PM

Yeah, me too! It sucks to smash up what you just built. Especially a sweet ride like that one. Fortunately, everything can be fixed!

rchippie 08.07.2005 11:20 PM

I almost want to cry;) .

Nick 08.08.2005 05:35 AM

Can the extension kit work on the old G1 chassis?

RC-Monster Mike 08.08.2005 06:28 AM

Yes, the extension will work fine with a G1 chassis. The motor mount requires a couple spacers to work if you are using it, but the extension bolts right on.

coolhandcountry 08.08.2005 07:54 AM

IT happens. IT be okay. Not the first crash won't be the last. I was making a speed run in the yard. I have video just don't know how to post it. The holes in the arms are closer to the diffs than that stock are or rpm. Gives me more travel but more leverage over shock. If you know what i mean. I was thinking about trying to put the shock adapters on it form a gmaxx suspension.Don't know what i going to try next. I got it extended and handling good. next step is faster. What does it take to get 80 out of a monster truck. :lol

coolhandcountry 08.21.2005 11:42 AM

Okay. I uploaded the video I took two weeks ago. It may not be the best but it is a video. I was doing a batfish manuver. Driving and shooting at same time. http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=63491

Batfish 08.21.2005 12:32 PM

"Batfish maneuver"...I like it :)

I may yet be known for something.

coolhandcountry 08.21.2005 01:15 PM

You have to take a video some way. I had controller one hand and camera in the other. It works.
