mm 7700 e maxx
I have a e maxx with the 7700 mamba max motor and esc and it works fine. I have never thermaled and have never have any heat problems.
i am currently running a 9t with a 72t spur. i use a 3s a123. I dont know exact speeds but its fast and i can flip it over with the wheelie bar. oh and i have no cogging. |
Thats a miracle, but seeing as you are running 9/72 and only 10.2v that would explain it. The MM motors are way too small normally, but gearing down a ton like you have will help no end. If you really wanna have some proper fun, ditch the 7700 in favour of an 8Xl or 10L feigao, and run 5s A123, with the BEC disabled (remove red wire from rx lead), and use the CC UBEC or an RX pack to power the RX. That will get you moving at closer to 40mph with tons of torque. Got any pics/video of your rig?
I thought the mamba motors had a 50k rpm limit? The 7700 running on 3s a123 would be pushing 80k rpm... that's going to be really stressing the motor and bearings.
They are good for 72k... Castle say 5700 on 3s lipo (4.2v) is ok...
Under a load those a123 cells easily drop down to 2.5-2.8 volts anyway so figure 7.5-8.4volts total.
castle tests them up to 80,000, they are tough little motors, just little. I ran my 7700 on 12 cells and it was nuts, but it was way to hot to touch, even after hard bashing on 7 cells it was too hot to touch, and it was in a bone stock rustler, 86' camaro must drive real slow downhill
just the opposite i run it full bore with the highest timing and i ran it 20min strait and could easily hold the motor and esc and the batteries are still cold.
maybe im just lucky. but before i did have it in my rustler but i keep breaking the planetary gears so i got a e maxx roller for 80 bucks. |
You sure it is a 7700? The 7700 on high timing will get hot just looking at it.
yes im positive and i did have cogging at first so i soldered the motor wire. just to let you know im only 16 so thats why i haven't gotten a bigger motor.
well just cause your 16 doesnt mean much. you can get the 8xl for 80 bucks. if you are working then you should be able to afford that after a month or so.
anyways. johnny that made me laugh. (it gets hot just looking at it.) lol |
yeah i nkow but right now im working on getting a tremec tko 600 trans for my 385 stroker camaro so thats my highest priority.
i will get some pics as soon as i can |
how would i post pics?

yes that is a dog collar for a battery hold down.

those are hot bodies wheels and tires and it would easily flip with those but i stripped out one of the wheel hubs.
so what would the best motor be and why?
Thanks |
for a emaxx? best would be a nue 1512 or 1515 - OK would be a feigao XL 7-9
Much more torque, effecient and cooler. |
That's pretty amazing. I have a 7700. I was able to run it in my T3 by gearing it down very very low and running only 6 cell NIMH. on 2 cell lipo it got wayyy to hot. I ran it in my DF03 buggy for a while, but it was too much there. Kept melting diffs, but the motor handled it nicely. I have no home for the 7700 at the moment. I got a 5700 for the DF03.
Nah, I smell something funny here. No offense. yeah, it's "in" the maxx, but without issues? Anywho, good luck with it....
im going t
o get a 8xl and run it on 5s a123. what would be the best and cheapest motor and where would i get it? |
the 8XL they are refering to is a fiegao, and it will take some looking. Stock seems to be low everywhere.
sorry feigao
just drove my e maxx motor temps were 100-115f and my esc was 100-120f and my batteries hit a max of 82f.
That is amazing. I get higher temps then that running my 7700 in a 1/10 TC on only 2s.
Let me guess, its geared for 20 mph, its 6 degrees F outside and it was a 3 minute run cuz you had to come inside or your controller hand would have gotten frostbite.
...Or you bought this motor from the same guy who sold Jack his magic beans. Somethin seems screwy... Ive never seen a MM7700 run at 115 on 6 cells in a touring car... BTW: I'm not sayin this info isnt accurate, I just feel like a piece is missing from this puzzle. |
3.3:1 reducer on the front of the motor? set up for crawling?
so what should i do to make this thing alot faster on 5s a123 with mamba max esc?
as stated by someone else earlie rin the thread.... Get an 8xl and run 5s2p. You will think the MM motor was a joke after you try it.
thanks what all would i need to do to handle it. i have revo drove shafts but thats it.
drive shafts.
will i break the diffs?
The diffs will hold for maybe a couple of runs. If you don't mind rebuilding them all the time, you can hang with them. Otherwise, get some diff cups. Or, get Hotbodies diffs (the pro) and get 1/8 cases. So, in all, I would get diffs, center shafts and maybe an idler, not sure how the new tranny's are...I guess they are good enough. Can't remember if you have the new maxx or old maxx, if old, definitly get a steel idler gears. You get can this stuff as you break it...
I would talk to mike about the feigo 8xl and find out when he will be getting them in. |
