Lehner's new generation highenders...

Not 100% new, but I found these pics at a site that sells these new high end LMT motors. It seems they are inspired by the design of the Neu motors, but the ventilations are not as big as the ones in the Neu.
It seems that all of the new Lehners come with thicker than 5mm shafts, too. I....well...shall I get one?....:whistle: |

Are all of the series' being modified like this? (15/19/22 etc.) That would stink if they made the 19xx with an oddball 6mm shaft. I really like the internal fan though.

Yeah, a link would be nice. I wish they would find a way to make the thread holes longer (deeper) so there would be more attachment with the screws and less worry about hitting the windings.

At least with the new design you would only hit the fan blades if the screws were too long. :whistle:

As much as I loved my 1940 before it shorted out - this still doesn't solve their problems. Poor service, poor distribution in the USA, and more expensive than an equally good Neu motor. Besides, the Neu has great service and made in the USA.

I agree totally, on all accounts. That new can design is pure beauty- I wonder if anyone else will alter their designs in the future? We live in hope...

It looks like that motor design is pretty much for aircraft and hydro. It wold be nice if they came out with a closed can like the original and had longer screw threads. I would also like to see someone come out with some kind of rear end bell support to the chassis so the end of the motor doesn't float. Even the best attachment at the front motor mount will have some flex on big impacts.

Lehner has "motor clamps" for their 15, 19, 22 and 30 series motors.

Not bad. Now if there was something that would allow a little adjustment up or down depending on how your motor is mounted. But that's kind of what I had in mind to keep the rear of the motor from moving around.

Those clamps have been around a while for the 19xx series motors. I have a set that came from FD a quite while back already. They do the job OK, but I still prefer the front plate mounting for ease of adjustability.

Guys, are there any other highend two pole motors beside the Hackers, Lehners or Kontroniks?
4 pole motors aren't really friendly from what I've read here and there. |
I don't consider hacker to be high-end? unless they use segmented magnets, but i thought they didn't?

They don't use segmented rotors, but I think because of their high quality construction, they would kick the nemesis and feigao away.( I think history is repeating itself here again:(.. if you remember correctly..LOL!!).

Well, I can tell you what I did on my last truggy was to simply wrap the rear end bell a couple times with some narrow electrical tape. Can't even see it on the Neu motor. What that did is allow some kind of cushioning at the rear of the motor so the chassis wouldn't get all beat up. That's probably all I'll do for future too. Just thought it would be cool if there was something else out there that didn't look as ghetto. :whistle:

What i do on my motors is cut down some 1/2 inch expanded pvc & slide that under the motor then attach it to the chassis it works great.
