Snowing today - thats all - thank you

snowing again today in NY - what the he**. This sucks -

i have no clicky buttons or pics for this site the search/newpost bar is gone no avitars. this site works with crappy explorer but not fully with firefox what setting did i click or anyone had this happen before.
problems
no avitars
no click buttons i.e start new thread, reply...
no pictures
no search/new post bar at the top, just a large blank space i only have this quick response hence the random thread from 2005

any help would be a appreciated

hmmm.. Try clearing your cache and go through all the options and make sure you don't have something stupid disabled. If you don't like firefox opera is always and option... I love it.

i've used firefox for years i actually deleted then reinstalled with same results. hmm i've heard opera is good but i am soooo used to firefox. but i'm sure both are years ahead of explorer. i have cleared my cache. thanks

If you use opera you wont ever change again.

To go back just click right, click left or click and hold right then drag left. Opposite for forward. Close tab with hold right click drag down and then right at a right angle. Opera looks really clean and isn't as gay as IE. It's just as fast as firefox. I've used firefox and all the others and I still prefer opera. Now if Firefox had mouse gestures like Opera I might have to change...

ok in opera now gestures are pretty easy and working well. can't seem to find the text size option though; in firefox it was text zoom. i use a tv as well as a monitor and dont want shitty resolution but that shrinks the text sooooo

Try going to tools, preferences, fonts, and change it from there.

I have a forum controls issue though- I cant alter the text above my avatar anymore as the option has vanished from the User control panel (custom user title option).

No, but I've checked every option in the control panel (might have been under 'options' actually), and its just plain vanished... do you still have that option or has your one gone walkabout too? :neutral:

same thing with the small pic that comes up on the top left of my profile. That option seems to have dissapeared too...

This happend when the forum was updated. I noticed that alot of forums all changed on the same day. I am guessing that this brand of forum software (or whatever it is called) can be updated by the mfg...

Oh yeah, just noticed that too- avatar normally shows up in the top left hand corner...

Well, I just thought if you could remember if it was a special link name. All the options are called through the URL. For instance, editing options is called by "?do=editoptions". I was just curious if you entered the right text after the = sign, the page still existed, but hidden or not linked...

EDIT: Proves my point - If you look at the control panel, you will see there is a thick line in between "Edit email and password" and "Edit options". That gap is actually this: http://rc-monster.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile. it's not in the menu but it is really there.

Its 17 degrees here (chicago), going to snow and we already have 15" of ice. I went and saw Metallica and Machine Head last night :diablo:, brought the family (13 girl,15,17 boys and wifey), badass show, killer laser show and fire ! 1st concert I ever went to sober :angel:....Last time I saw Metallica was 14 years ago in Los Angeles :drunk: I still cant hear ! seriously, Im too old for that loud . Wife has the day off and is working on Shauns webpage. Hopes to have something up tonight.... Thought Id share :intello:

WOW you’re the MAN... That’s way cool.. I finished up my class work a few weeks ago and have gone to thee dives already, this one was the big final test..:whistle: ie. pulling a diver out the water, giving CPR in and out of the water etc, fake calling DAN / local paramedics etc...:angel: I passed!, yeah I past the big one!.:yipi::party:. very physically demanding test but great knowledge to know (hopefully I’ll never need to use it!).. :intello:

Next comes ship and cave diving!..:eyes: I’m really looking forward to this class, most people die who do this without training and I’m not going to end up a statics in the alert diver DAN mag.. Wont happen.. :no:

How far are you into your PADI certs :neutral:?? I’m assuming you’re a Master Instructor?? I’m don’t know if want to go after next my Dive master or just become a Mater scuba diver and call it quits.:neutral:. any thoughts from the PRO?? :wink:

I actually went up through the ranks of NAUI. PADI was developed by a bunch of NAUI instructors that wanted to start a "for profit" organization. :neutral: 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other. NAUI still remains non for profit. I went this route because all of the Universities in Florida contract NAUI instructors to teach their college level courses. I went about as far as you can. I became an instructor trainer. The order for NAUI is open water, advanced, master diver, rescue diver, dive master, assistant instructor, instructor, instructor trainer. In the mix of all that, I did a few specialties, like nitrox, trimix, stage diving, cavern, cave, and wreck. I never teach any of those (special classes) except nitrox, and wreck tho.

I used it as a way for me to make $$ and put myself through college. The Dive safety officer at FIU hired me when I became a divemaster. Shortly after I became an instructor, I was given 4 labs and 1 lecture in my first teaching semester.

It was great. every semester 30-40 new co-eds would show up to my lab (at the pool :yes:)

i was written up a few for "fraternising with my students" but nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Considering I was 20 when I became a professor there I think they were understanding that my "students" on friday were my classmates on monday.

anyhow, if I were to recommend anything in terms of moving forward, I recommend a nitrox class. It will allow you to stay down longer. (not go deeper, that is trimix) ....But nitrox is a blend of air that increases the amount of oxygen in the mix. why? to lower the amount of nitrogen you absorb. This way you will have a new set of tables to use and you can extend your dives. It comes in handy when you plan to do multiple dives (past 70' or so) in one day. For example, a normal day charter down here consists of two - three dives. On air, that usually translates to your first dive being around 60-70 feet and your 2nd and 3rd dives being under 40 so you can stay within your limits. But if you dive nitrox, you can do dives 2 and 3 at 60-70 ft as well and not have to cut the dives short to 15-20 minutes. You can stay down longer and still avoid too much nitrogen absorbtion. Also, some divers use nitrox to dive a "safer" plan. They will still use "air" tables, but use a nitrox blend to reduce their nitrogen intake even more. anyway...I can yap about this all day!

The biggest thing I think people take from that course(rescue) is "accident prevention". Hopefully if you ever use anything....it will be that!

Wow PADI is definitely different that NAUI

I went this route:
Open water, which let me then get my Dry suit, night diver, underwater navigator & peak performance buoyancy. Learning to hover was a bitch!..:whip:

Adventure Diver which let me get my deep water (I’ve been 120’) its’ fricken cold! LOL..+ plus in so-cal you really don’t see anything .. and I started to nitrogen narcosis so I really don’t go below 100’ anymore..

Advanced open water diver which let me get my search and recovery & rescue diver

Now I can go to master scuba (highest level a non pro can achieve) :yipi: or do the divemaster then start teaching emergency first response instructor, etc.. :whistle:

The following certs I don’t have yet but do need to get for my own knowledge is: :wink:
Enriched Air, Wreck Diver, Cavern Diver and maybe a Semiclosed Rebreather. There’s these new units out now that are just 6k I’m been looking at but it’s hard to justify for me / to the wife… for what no bubbles hahhaaa..

The cool thing now I can go the sheriff’s and join the volunteer search and rescue team!.:party: I’ve got a buddy who does this Nor-Cal and he loves it!..:yes:

Trust me!, I’ve been a DAN member from DAY 1.. I even have their life insurance for 250K just incase something go wrong!.. :oh:

The whole enriched air things scars me a little so I’ve been kind or passing on it.:no: I’ll need to get a new tank, reg & gages.. + I’ve heard horror stories about the gas being mixed wrong from the dive shops and not pretty.. I was trained using the tables and dive planner when I do multiple dives i.e. (first dive is always the deepest), wait an hour, then start over again, etc) as long as keep an eye on my nitrogen level use my dive computer I should be fine!.. at least that what I’ve told..:lol:

metalallover : opera doesn't work on a lot of sites, buttons would click, but do nothing; their is however, a mouse gestures add-on for firefox that is identical to opera, and i must say thanks for showing me the idea of mouse gestures:yes:

I never knew you could get an add-on for mouse gestures.... Come to think of it the only reason I use opera is because of the mouse gestures... I'll have to give firefox another try.:whistle:

I haven't got too many problems with compatibility myself. One website a few weeks ago was just pages of garbled up characters, and I think on the same day the buttons on lightflight rc didn't work. It had a html version though, and even said "if the buttons don't work click here"

Well I am on firefox right now.

I downloaded and installed mouse gestures and it isn't working. I'll try tomorrow, but if I cant get it to work I'm going back to opera. Firefox doesn't seem to be much faster then opera, I'd even say it's slower. I can't switch tabs quite as fast. I'll use it for another week or so if I figure out the mouse gestures then I'll decide if I like opera or firefox more. I really like how opera uses a really small interface at the top. It's simple and very easy to read and navigate.

Are those like the color tabs in IE8 where it organizes the tabs by color based on the website?

wow my problems were opposite i thought opera was slowwwwww Firefox seems instant for me good luck though. also video links would not wokr for me in opera i would see it download then nothing? oh well long live Firefox:rofl:
