MGM controller...

Okay, I've bothered Mike enough but can't seem to get this done. If you don't remember, I was having problems getting into programming mode in my 16018 MGM controller.

Turns out that my controller was defective from the factory. Mike checked it out, agreed and had it replaced.

Well, I received it today back with the motor and this time, I bought the USB cables to do the programming.

I installed the program, changed the parameters and it worked like a charm.

My problem now is once I write the saved parameters to the controller, Mike says I need to set it in "autotune" mode.

I had not tried this with the transmitter, only the software.

I clicked on autotune and the controller beeps 3 times. The instructions says to unplug the cc02 cable without turning off the controller and then drive it and go into full throttle so it can "autotune".

Now my question. Is this correct, can I use the software to enter the autotune programming mode?

If so, what is the correct way.... apparently I am doing something wrong.

Second question. At this moment, I only have half throttle. Pulling the throttle just past halfway point gets me nothing.

I'm not sure if this is from not going into autotune mode or a setting I have set incorrectly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all....

Mark

Did you set the esc to the radio before programming with the pc?

I made sure the receiver was binded with the new transmitter.

Then I went into programming mode using the transmitter and set the end points for full forward and full backward.

Is that what you meant?

Thanks,

Mark

<OT> Should this be perhaps moved to another forum section? I didn't think MGM controllers were made by castle... </OT>

You're absolutely right, however when I did a search for MGM controllers, the majority of the posts were in the castle section.... and since there isn't an MGM section....

Nonetheless, if mods want to move it, it works for me. I just need some help.

Thanks,

Mark

First set up your esc to know your controller end points for throttle and brake. FOllow the directions in the manual that came with the controller. Its not difficult.

After you do that... run a autotune run. i prefer to run my autotune in a wide open area that I an really let it run full throttle. Not just get there for an instant. So entering autotune from the trasnmitter programing in the field is easier IMO. Again. The istuctions in the manual are fairly simple for this.

Yes that is what I meant.

Were you able to hold full throttle for several seconds while doing the autotune? I never ran the autotune on mine because I never had the space to hold full throttle for several seconds around the house/yard. I also had trouble getting it to run when setting autotune from the software (try doing it with radio). Try resetting the controller to defaults and start over (endpoints too), if you can't get the autotune to work, don't use it.

Is it possible to do the Autotune with the vehicle off the ground or does the vehicle have to be on the ground so it sees the load?

I think it needs to see the load.
