tires for BL emaxx
Just wanting some opinions on some good tires to run on my BL emaxx3905. I had the talon tires on it and they just balloon too much. Its hard to control. Has anyone had any luck with other tires? Or has anyone tried strapping the inside of the tire with strapping tape or some other tape? Did it help?
Thanks for any input guys. |
im running the stock emaxx tires right now and they do not balloon,im running brushless too,but i really dont like the way they look,so this thred should help me too:wink:

putting a layer of duct tape on the inside of the tire helps the ballooning alot. I have been running the losi zombimaxx tires with the duct tape and really like them.

Bowtie MTR's are nice, no need for tape. :) Tread wears quickly though. I also have a set of Zombie's, balloon all to beat hell (with no tape), so bad infact, I have no control. Trying a set of the Badlands next, not sure with or with out tape though. Taping for me is hard, tried it once and it deformed my tire, so not sure if I did it right. Any tips on that would help others as well.

i use truggy tires with a dence foam, and they have small holes punched in them along the center of the tread. they're grp's.

Using the Ofna Med foams work nice too. They last longer than the tire!
|
I've also done the duct tape trick on the inside. Works great!

Any tips?????

I tried to tape some tires once and after 1 run the tape broke loose.

I'm looking for a more all round use tire. Bowties and crimefighters are gone in a blink of an eye on pavement. Any ideas?

Taping badlands, is it needed?

On a side note, the only thing about them that I don't know is if they balloon badly. Anyone know if they need to be taped or not? I had no need to tape my MTR's at all. But not sure about the badlands.... |

i washed and scuffed the inside before using the gorilla tape. been running the Proline crimefighters for months and no ballooning. works like a charm. only problem is that the crimefighters, like mentioned above, is pathetic on pavement. all the tread is basically gone only after a couple of months.
i too am thinking of another set. i love the traxxas talons i had on before, but the sidewalls just couldn't hold up to 8xl on 5s. started tearing at the beads. was thinking of going with 40 series road rage or proline mashers. anyone has experience with these? |
i had tape pulling off too, but i didn't clean them very well. could have been my problem. anyway, i will repeat myself. i love my grp's, and i will stick with truggy tire/wheels from now on. it just so much better for high power and speed. they are light, narrow, and have less side wall to stretch out and upset the truck. even before my tape started pulling loose and making the tires unballanced, the sidewalls would still stretch into a U shaped tire.

what about 40 series tires? They have less sidewall. Has anyone used them on their BL projects?
