Inrunner / Outrunner

Anyone seen or tried these....

I'm looking for a motor for an LSP conversion - I want to run a saddlepack setup of A123's at the rear so am looking for a shorter motor than an 9XL which I would normally use...

The intension is to flip the diff completely...

These would seem to be smaller but still offer the same torque?

Appreciate thoughts or suggestions... Thx

If you can run something similar to 5s lipo, I would say that an align 600xl would be your best bet. You may get away with the l model on 6s and gear down but the xl is not much longer and will handle the load better.

I have been meaning to run the l version I have in a buggy but have not got around to that yet. I tested both the l and xl in my emaxx and they worked fine, much more torque than an inrunner but not as fast to spool up. Ended up feeling smoother to drive.

On a side note the quark escs work these kinds of motors well, not sure about other escs though...

Do you still have these motors that you tested? Been curious about these for awhile now.

I wonder how they would do in the new E maxx with the mod 1 gears?

The Align motors are strong. When I get my ESC done, I'll put the 600 back in the truck to give it a work out.

I was hoping for a MM capable setup so really looking for 4s lipo 5s a123...

Arct1k, maybe a neu 1509, or 1512 if it will fit. Go for a higher kv, so you can spin it faster than 40k rpm and then have lower gearing to make up for less torque than a larger motor.

How much space do you have? Maybe even the l can kb45 motors? I have a 10l that is shorter than a xl feigao, looks to be able to fit in the gas tank location. That was my plan with the lsp, and put a pair of 5s milwaukee cells on either side in the rear.

I sold the align xl, but kept the l can. They have a rather large diameter, like 43 mm or so. I like the motors, but they do not seem any better than a l can feigao in my 2wd maxx. I need to try out the l can align in an 1/8 buggy, just to see how it does with more load. If quark send me a new 125b, I will outfit the mbx with the l can and a pair of 4200 lipos for 6s. The mbx has a solid center spur now, and should be quite a performer, on the street that is!

i think I have just under 75mm / 3"... An L would fit but not sure if it would cope with a truggy...

Crap, that is impressive!

The ammo will be too small. The align xl should fit, but will be too low kv to work on 4s lipo. If you want to do some modding, either on the motor mount or make a new one, take a look at the 8l kb 45. They can be had on ose or hobby city. You should be able to run it on 4s lipo or 5s a123 in 2p. Only issue is the 6mm shaft, gear selection is limited, certain sizes are available on sp sdp. And it has a 30mm bolt spacing, not the 25mm std to 540 motors.

I took a punt on this one... Heavy enough to be a door stop if it doesn't work :)
