Problems with CC BEC
I just bought the CC BEC for a MM that that replaced the stock ESC in a VXL Rustler, my plan is to go to a 4 cell lipo,I was able to program the MM ESC but when I hooked up the BEC I got a green light on the castle link program for the USB connection but a red light for the BEC connection, the green led lights up on the BEC. I called CC and they will send me a new one but I hate doing double work and I was ready to run the Rustler. Its been a real PITA

the problem turned out to be my fault, i had originally connected the USB cable to the computer first than the BEC afterwards, I have since connected the BEC to the Castlink than the USB cable to the computer it now mates up to the software just fine...sorry to CC for the misunderstanding......

Another thing to note is that if your BEC is connected to the power wires of the ESC while you try to program it (the BEC), the computer will only read the Castle Link and not the BEC. I hardwired my BEC to the ESC before I got the Link and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't register on the program screen. I finally disconnected one of the power wires and voila, there it was.

Really? I guess I'm just unlucky. I was thinking there was some voltage left in the caps of the mm or something, the mm would turn on when I hooked the BEC to my comp. I also tried a different computer and a different castle link. Oh well, I have it set now so it doesn't matter, but if it happens to someone else it could be worth a try.

Just for future reference from Castle's site:
3. I am plugging into my Castle Link to change the output voltage to my servos, but the CC BEC will not connect. What is wrong? First, verify that you have a green USB connection status in the lower left hand corner of the Castle Link screen. If not, go to the Castle Link FAQ section regarding loading the driver. If it is green but the ‘Device Connection Status’ light stays red, the USB port may not be able to provide enough current to power the CC BEC. Try plugging a battery pack into the CC BEC. This may also be necessary if you’ve already soldered the ESC to the CC BEC. If the problem persists contact Castle Creations Technical Support at support@castlecreations.com or give us a call at (913) 390-6939. My CC BEC was already hardwired to the ESC and it wouldn't connect through Castle Link until I plugged a battery into the ESC. Works like a charm now! |
