has it been done?..any thoughts on me trying?

Well, HPI stuck a MM in their WheelieKing to get the 72mph record back along with only a few modifications, so its entirely do-able. BYT has tons of info on the wheelieking and modifying/upgrading it- its not an ideal platform for going fast in stock form, but with a little time and money....
