Savage Conversion!

K i am getting the FLM kit and currently have a MM with 8xl and a 4s 5000hv max amps pack. My question is what pinion to get to go as fast as possible with out overheating my electronics. I used the speed calculator and an 18t pinion will get me around 40mph. I have the 3 speed in the truck so just wondering what everyone else is running.

Remember there are 3 different size spur gears available for the savage which are cheaper then pinions. You can use those to change your gear ratio to find the perfect point. I bought a 14t, 16t and 18t pinion (my savage has different diff ratios compared to stock) and with the 3 different spur gears I basically have any gear ratio. I put the FLM kit together last night and I was so impressed. I couldn't believe how well it went together. You won't be disappointed.

Glad to hear the FLM kit is worth the money. Upon looking at it though i felt the price was really good even if the kit was not perfect. As far as the three spurs i have the metal one that is 47 tooth and would like to keep that for it is metal and will use a hardened pinion to take the metal to metal contact. Thanks for the reply. Oh cant wait for the MMM for i will put that in and have some real power.

I have no problems with the plastic spurs in my nitro but I haven't put them to the test with brushless power yet. Yeah I wasn't going to wait for the MMM but I keep spending all my money on other things (nitro savage) so the brushless savage is coming along so slowly that I might as well wait now. I was thinking of running your combo for a while but I spent my money on other things once again. It should do the trick from what I have read as long as it is geared conservatively.
