Whats the differance?

Dealing with the CRT .5 I have read some of you state you need to get Traxxas nitro stampede wheels. What the difference between the nitro wheels and the electric wheels?

Also what pitch is the CRT .5 spur gear? I assume mod1.

The spur is a Mod1.

The Traxxas nitro rear wheels are the same offset as the electric front wheels. They have a wider offset than the electric rear wheels. So, for a wider track width, use the electric fronts or nitro rears. Also, if you really want something that looks sharp, check into the new Pro-Line 30 Series Torque NItro Rears and a set of 30 series Dirt Hawgs. The Dirt Hawgs are only 4" in diameter and would look killer on a CRT.5

Are the nitro rears and electric fronts both hex adapters?

The 30 series stuff does look good, but I'm not a fan of dirt hawgs. I find they only work good on asphault.

Yes, they both use 12mm hexes. The only Traxxas wheels that don't use hexes are Nitro Fronts.

They make Bowties in 30 series that are about the same height..3.89" You can even buy them premounted now: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUHV4&P=7

Wow, those premounted 30 series bowties look sweet. A little spendy at $32 for a pair. To bad my local track is pretty much a Losi Taper Pin and Panther Switch type clay. I could see getting a set for the back yard track. Nice loose black dirt.

skellyo - Are these 30 series supposed to go with the extended chassis? Or are they just a different option to the stock wheels/tires that come with the CRT.5?

Also, not to hijack the thread or anything, but I was wondering if there are any 17mm adapters available to run 1/8 buggy rims/tires?

Just an option instead of the stock wheels/tires.

As for 17mm adapters, I'm not sure of any that will fit the CRT.5 axles. Perhaps the New Era 17mm hexes made for the Traxxas Stampede will work?

Thanks skellyo. These look like they should work: http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?part_id=3244
Too bad it comes with the unneeded front wheels hexes though. That means two sets would have to be ordered...

Nice tires. I assume they work on a 12mm hex?

Absolutely. The 30 Series Torque rear wheels would be what you want.

Does anyone know the inner diameter of these ofna 17mm adpaters? They look close. 1/8 scale buggy wheels might be fun for bashing, but they might be so tall that the chassis won't slap on hard landings. In that case you might break more parts. Chassis slap saves things like shock shafts and hubs on awkward landings.

Hickoryhead 03.02.2008 01:38 AM

But chassis slap ruins electronics and is not good on Lipo's. IMO

There may be some truth to your statement, but every 10 scale electric car I've seen relies on chassis slap on the big jumps and sometimes even the smaller ones if its a low grip track. By the time you set your "stock" car up to never slap the springs and damping are so stiff it will handle badly in a race situation. For that matter even the big 1/8 buggys and truggys slap a lot.
