Watts Up Meter

Could I use this as a monitor for my 5s since I cant find a 5s lipo cutoff? It has what Im looking for plus a few extra features. Anybody have it?

Thanks

Or to go cheaper I could get this- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6454

I suppose you could use something like this, but it won't protect anything. Unless you can see the display as the vehicle passes you, it won't have any use as an LVC IMO.

The Watts-Up meter can record peak amp, minimum voltage and peak watts. I used to use it for this before getting an eagle tree and still do on occation. So by stopping and checking what your lowest voltage was under load you could see when the packs are running down, But from my experience, most Lipos run strong until right before they dump and then they drop off rpidly. It wold not be that effective in decting the end of the pack.

As a basic tool the Watts-Up still usefull IMO. I keep mine in my battery bag for doing quick voltage checks and sometimes run it in line when testing a new system/setup just to see a quick gauge of how much power I'm pulling as a sanity check that Im not overloading the batteries or esc or something. It doesnt give you alot of info but does tell you the basics.

Max amps, min voltage, max watts, mah consumed, live actual voltage, etc.

I agree, it's a nice unit. Just not the ideal tool as lipo-protection IMO. A "real-time" LVC is needed to protect against over discharge.

One of these should do the trick if looking for LVC.

Does that one go up to 5s?

jhautz 02.29.2008 04:39 PM

Yea. I use it on my savage with a 12020 on 5s.

I think it is good to 12s, not sure though.

i just got the 101 meter. does it record like you're saying? i'd like to run my truck with this inplace and comeback and look at the min/max data. you say it loggs this stuff? how do i use that feature?

nevermind, i have to do a return/exchange. i picked up the astro flight whatt meter which will only do real time, no good unless your bench testing and i can't run fast enough to watch it in my cars.

Ok Ill look into that LVC bdebde. It fairly priced and looks good. Looks as if it wont take up much room like the watts up meter will. Thanks you guys. Ill probably order it soon.
